NEBULAR CARCOMA to release GAUA’s debut mini-album on tape

Today, Nebular Carcoma sets November 15th as the international release date for Gaua‘s striking debut mini-album, Feeble Psychotic Vortex, on cassette tape format.

Originally released last year on CD and LP by Portugal’s elite Altare Productions, Gaua‘s Feeble Psychotic Vortex was a startling first fuller-length strike from this still-young Spanish entity. Ever aptly titled, the 37-minute Feeble Psychotic Vortex indeed sends the listener into a vortex of wild, wounded emotion and raw, red hatred, all transposed onto the grimmest black metal. Both malevolent in its marching melodicism and favorably punkish in its fury, each of these four epic-length tracks sees Gaua bewitching with hypnotic ease, all culminating in a massive ‘n’ mesmerizing cover of Vlad Tepes’ classic “Drink the Poetry of the Celtic Disciple,” extending that song’s malodorous ecstasy to a staggering 14 minutes.

Naturally, that choice of cover should say more than enough about Gaua‘s aims and intentions. Do not enter the Feeble Psychotic Vortex lightly!

BROKEN SPIRIT to have demo collection released on vinyl by GOATOWAREX

On December 1st internationally, Goatowarex is proud to present Broken Spirit‘s Demo Collections 2012-2017 on double-LP vinyl format. Originally released on CD in 2018 by Portugal’s elite Black Gangrene, this vinyl version will feature laser-etched artwork on Side D, the first of such type of release done by Goatowarex. As per the band’s wishes, it shall be limited to 160 copies, with newly remastered sound.

Emblematic of the newer breed of black metal coursing through the deepest, darkest veins of the underground, Australia’s Broken Spirit is unflinching misery & misanthropy incarnate. Perfectly monikered, Broken Spirit is but another face of prolific enigma B.H., who counts among his current endeavors Drohtnung, Grave Worship, Mors De Corpus, and Pestis Cultus. But, put more directly, indeed is Broken Spirit his most personal and most challenging face.

Broken Spirit‘s first public recording came with Promo 2013, a four-song fucking of your soul: blown-out but with a nuanced-if-peculiar approach, here was triumphantly turgid black metal that dared you to enjoy it. Picking up the pace, both release-wise and more so tempo-wise, was the three-song Rotting in Void a year later, with its disturbingly clanging riffs creating an unsettling dislocation of body and soul. Thereafter, with 2015’s Solò otro cerdó and successive, super-limited split tapes with the considerable likes of Obskuritatem and Drohtnung did Broken Spirit‘s sonics become more ghostly, hovering like a forever-lost spectre – truly, a Broken Spirit – but charging forward into a vortextural vacuum with self-inflicted violence, B.H. truly matching form with content.

It is with this history, this complementary alternate life to Broken Spirit‘s cult Vivid Dreaming debut LP (which will receive the Goatowarex vinyl treatment in the coming year) with Portugal’s likewise-elite Altare Productions, that Goatowarex wishes to preserve for posterity on black vinyl, serving as a reverberating curse before the next penultimate chapter begins…or ends.

The band comments: “It is now time to unveil this journey into the cosmos. We are proud to present “Cosmicism”, our new album, in its entirety. Live the fate of protagonists meeting the unspeakable Lovecraftian creatures, and let yourself be caught by the inexorable attraction of the black hole.”
Press quotes on ‘Cosmicism’

Grimm Gent (BE):   “The Great Old Ones‘ latest album by the French black metal outfit is a milestone in the band’s discography. ‘Cosmicism‘ is a journey into deep dark space. This is a supreme cosmic black metal record of the highest quality. Once again they have released a splendid album in the modern age of black metal!” 9.6/10

Lords of Metal (NL): “This is pure classe”! 9/10

Ave Noctum (UK): “This is without a doubt TGOO’s best release since ‘Al Azif’ – they have not only captured the eldritch evil of their first album, but expanded upon it. There’s an urgency to ‘Cosmicism’ that simply wasn’t present on any of their previous releases and it makes for an album that keeps its listeners constantly on their toes, never knowing what to expect.” 8/10

The Black Planet (UK): “Expect something that sounds epic, immensely aggressive and intensely chaotic, enfolding and disruptive. Expect greatness. Expect The Great Old Ones.” 9/10

The most merciful thing in the world, I think, is the inability of the human mind to correlate all its contents. We live on a placid island of ignorance in the midst of black seas of infinity, and it was not meant that we should voyage far.”  H.P. LOVECRAFT (1890-1937)

Channelling the spirit and literary heritage of author H.P. Lovecraft, French Atmospheric black metallers THE GREAT OLD ONES have returned with their most impressive work to date. ‘Cosmicism’ lures the listener deeper into darkness with intricate, beautiful and twisted melodies, ultimately encompassing them with madness.

THE GREAT OLD ONES emerged in 2009 from the old parts of the ancient Aquitanian harbour city of Bordeaux, FRANCE, a city famed for its secrets and deep red wine. After releasing their first album, ‘Al Azif,’ the reactions of critics and fans were unanimously positive.

The band followed up with their second full-length, ‘Tekeli-li,’ which garnered even higher praise. As a result, THE GREAT OLD ONES played a show at the acclaimed Roadburn festival, opened for BEHEMOTH in their homeland, played at Hellfest, and supported label mates SHINING and DER WEG EINER FREIHEIT.

The third full length, ‘EOD – A Tale of Dark Legacy,’ (2017) marked another big step in the band’s fast rising career. The five-piece took the road with the legendary GAAHLS WYRD and embarked on a successful European co-headline tour with label mates AUÐN from Iceland. THE GREAT OLD ONES also appeared on the billing of respected festivals, such as Brutal Assault and Eindhoven Metal Meeting, in front of a gigantic crowd of cultists.

Now, the French worshippers of Cthulhu reveal their fourth offering to the old ones. “Cosmicism” is a literary philosophy developed by H.P. Lovecraft. The idea behind “Coscmicism” is that humans are godless creatures who are totally insignificant in the grand scheme of our cosmic universe.

The production of this album was entrusted to Francis Caste (SINSAENUM, LOUDBLAST, SVART CROWN, REGARDE LES HOMMES TOMER, HANGMAN’S CHAIR) of the Studio Sainte-Marthe, who managed to capture the singular essence of THE GREAT OLD ONES.

The record is a true journey in the cold deep of space. Each song features a Lovecraftian entity and parallel the dark destiny of the protagonist who meets her and in turn, slowly succumbs to admiration and madness. Lyrics inspired by H.P. Lovecraft layered over haunting, melodic beauty result in a perfect match. Just listen and you will find out what awaits down there…

DESTRÖYER 666 continue to do what they are best at: kicking ass and hammering out heavy metal that is slamming straight into the face. No compromise, no sell out, no bullshit!

The Australians fill the gap between albums with the hard-hitting EP, ‘Call of the Wild’ that comes with a distinct taste of an unrepentantly classic flavour.

DESTRÖYER 666 don’t do whiny nostalgia but simply stick to their old school roots, which are reaching straight down into the golden age of metal while allowing themselves to sound fresh and remain relevant.

The band originally started out as a solo project of BESTIAL WARLUST guitarist KK in Australia in 1994. As early as with debut album ‘Unchain the Wolves’ (1997),  fast-tracked towards international acclaim. The even stronger second full-length, ‘Phoenix Rising’ (2000) had the Australians relocating to Europe to be able to satisfy the soaring demand for touring and festival shows. After a round of line-up changes, third full length ‘Cold Steel… For an Iron Age’ (2002) cemented the band’s excellent reputation. After a hiatus caused among other issues by disenchantment with the business, DESTRÖYER 666 returned with ‘Defiance’ in 2009 and followed up on this success with the rough and gritty ‘Wildfire’ seven years later that saw them touring and performing at all the relevant metal festivals worldwide on a regular basis again.

‘Call of the Wild’ comes with three fresh tracks and the revisited classic, “Trialed by Fire”, which was first published on ‘Terror Abraxas’ (2003). Now come and get yours!

Turkish black metal cult Horrocious stream the entirety of their new album

Today, Turkish black metal cult Horrocious stream the entirety of their highly anticipated debut album, Depleted Light and the Death of Uniqueness
Set for international release on October 25th via Osmose Productions, hear HorrociousDepleted Light and the Death of Uniqueness in its entirety here:
Inexorable hatred occurred with the coming together of Godslaying Hellblast, Sarinvomit, and Persecutory members in early 2015. Horrocious started as a two-man black metal band to spread the infernal sounds that symbolize the destruction of the universe under the infinite chaos and eternal dominance of diabolic nothingness, and in this way, they recorded a four-track debut EP, Obscure Dominance Of Nothingness, which was released as limited-edition cassette in 2015 and CD edition in 2016. Later, three new members (C.G. on guitars, E.K. on bass, Alexey on drums) were added to the lineup to record an eight-track debut full-length in the first quarter of 2018.

On this debut full-length, Depleted Light and the Death of UniquenessHorrocious points the egoism and ambition of the divinity and his spatial prison in the thearchia light of his orders when he wanted to be respected, and prepares the ground for an endless struggle. True power of the Lucipherian energy above the spiritual light and embraces infinite sinfulness by rebelling against the incomprehensible secret uniqueness trapped in sanctity. Would it be forgotten that the war of freedom given by the falling angels and the wrath of sealed old evil spirits? From the creation to the scarcity of information, the salvation of humiliated existence will be realized by the destruction of all the things mentioned as goodness, so the control of the worlds was only an embarrassing force, and the irresistible principles and authorities destroyed endless dissatisfaction and the system was designed in stages and the system of interdependence was inevitable. Because this was rebellious son Lucifer’s eternal war against the integrity of all worlds…

Greek death metal cult Vultur premiere the new track “Postmortem Lividity”

Greece’s VULTUR premiere new track at NoCleanSinging.com

Today, Greek death metal cult Vultur premiere the new track “Postmortem Lividity”.
The track is the title track to the band’s highly anticipated second album, Drowned in Gangrenous Blood, set for international release on October 31st via Memento Mori.

Hear Vultur‘s “Postmortem Lividity” in its entirety here:
Spawned from the sick brain cells of several past and current members of other deadly Hellenic entities (Ectoplasma, Resurgency et. al.) back in 2013, Vultur have been exhibiting an unquenchable thirst for sanguine death metal fluids ever since, revealed in all its putrid and vicious glory both in their Vulture’s Beak demo (2016) and their Entangled in the Webs of Fear debut album (2018). Theirs is a timeless ilk of bludgeoning death metal that’s stuffed with assorted tempos that go from relentless eruptions of savagery to torturous and doomed-out passages replete with morbid harmonies and through mid-paced onslaughts of sheer heaviness, influenced by the likes of Morbid Angel, Gorguts, Monstrosity, Immolation, Brutality, Suffocation, Morpheus Descends, and Incantation.

Salaciously titled Drowned in Gangrenous Blood, Vultur‘s sophomore strike sees them sticking to that crushing course – and indeed drowning the hapless listener in gangrenous blood! No compromise, no quarter, no progression: Drowned in Gangrenous Blood is 100% undiluted DEATH METAL spawned from the most righteous of eras, the very beginning of the ’90s. Even down to its bassy, shit-thick production – courtesy of Haris Vougiantzis, of Embrace Of Thorns fame, who also handles the mixing & mastering here – Vultur‘s second album reeks of totally thorough authenticity. Its songwriting is creepy, lurking, and most definitely SICK, spewed by diseased minds who LIVE FOR THIS. And it’s also further proof that Greece’s death metal underground is criminally unsung, but soon shall devour unbelievers…

And what better way to garnish utter sickness than the literally viscous cover art courtesy of Gargoylekelly? Vultur have wasted no time in eclipsing their cult debut album – drink up!

Also sip the previously revealed title track “Drowned in Gangrenous Blood” HERE, courtesy of MetalBite.com, as well as the previously revealed “Groans of Excruciating Terror” HERE at Memento Mori‘s official YouTube channel.

TAN KOZH reveal trailer for ANTIQ debut album – includes members of HIMINBJORG, BELENOS, WAY TO END+++

Today, French pagan black metallers Tan Kozh reveal a new trailer video for their forthcoming debut album, Lignages Oubliés. Set for international release on November 15th via Antiq, see & hear this first glimpse of Tan Kozh‘s Lignages Oubliés below.

Tan Kozh was created by Sven (Himinbjorg, Belenos, Möhrkvlth, Ar Bard) in 2015. After composing an album, Yamnah (Belenos) helped him with the lyrics, and they were then joined by Decay (ex-Way to End) on drums, Barved (ex-Les Chants De Nihil) on guitar, and Introspect (Introspect, ex- Les Chants De Nihil) on bass. The recording is fully redone, with playing on a real drum set and with various additions by all members. The band starts concerts in 2018.

The first Tan Kozh album, Lignages Oubliés, is a pagan black metal album inspired by ancient Indo-European myths. The warlike rhythms switch to frenetic blastbeats and some more contemplative passages, including acoustic guitar and fretless bass. The first part of the album contains visions of the past and future wars and destruction, with in the background the awakening of ancient pagan gods and the eternal turn of the wheel of time; the second part of the album is made of prayers addressed directly to ancient gods.

Antiq is a label dedicated to the fully coherent concept of making music through sound, image, video, and attitude. They have been putting their entire existence into it since 2009. Over the years, Antiq have been identified as producers of not only perfectly coherent lyrics and themes through music, but also conceptual art and, of course, the manufacturing of beautiful objects. The label tries as much as it can to work with French creators, and if possible, with the smallest and most serious structures.

In the meantime, see & hear a special trailer for Lignages Oubliés here:

Sweden’s REVEAL reveal disturbing new video from forthcoming new SEPULCHRAL VOICE album

Today, defiant pan-genre iconoclasts Reveal reveal a disturbing new video for the track “Clevermouth. The track hails from the Swedish band’s highly anticipated third album of Sweden’s Reveal, Scissorgod, set for international release on November 29th via Sepulchral Voice Records. See & hear Reveal‘sbrand-new “Clevermouth” video in its entirety here:
Reveal draw  inspiration from a wide range of genres, artists, and styles and thus have they been convicted as the black chameleons in the worldwide heavy metal / rock scene. But, this is actually a very conservative scene, where innovation & progress is a cuss rather than a cachet.

After their phenomenal black metal debut in 2011, Nocturne Eyes and Teeth, Reveal rightly recruited a fanbase who was then left shocked and disturbed when they released their second album, Flystrips, in 2016. Challenging even the most adventurous listeners, the chameleons of Reveal here delivered an album that encompassed very different themes and sounds, yet one with an even darker underlying aura than the debut.

However, now the Devil’s most beloved tongue & tool is about to release their third album, ominously named Scissorgod, once again via Sepulchral Voice Records: an album where Reveal present themselves at their highest musical level, their most visionary yet also most grounded. From pure rockers like “Harder Harder,” “Clevermouth,” and the title track “Scissorgod” to emotional bleeders like “Decomposer” or “Coin Toss” to ultra-black metal killers like “Down Through the Hole,” Reveal present themselves in a more widescreen and Technicolor manner – their focus frightening, their vision more artistic than ever before. These nine songs reflect the halos, the thorn-crowns, and the maelstrom of fire wherein Reveal struggle and always swirl & whirl, but show that this band is radiant on a pale, grey metallic sky.
Repeating the Reveal pattern, Scissorgod turned out to be an album that will separate the wheat from the chaff again. But this time, it does not require a full basic understanding of the band’s attitude and the knowledge of the fucked-up world they live in to follow the album. In other words, this time, their nailbomb toys are more cuddly and their razorblade candy is more sweet. Although their ever-present schizo grin and the tangible lethal intention is still shining through the darkness all the time, a sardonic weltanschauung is built upon microcosmic insanity: Reveal present a world of filth erected in the midst of Elysium, black-minded and strong.

Or, more directly, with Scissorgod do Reveal prove again that they give no fucks for uniforms, blinders, and the opinions of others; they simply collect and inhale the madness of the world and channel it into a pure outburst of DEATH ROCK (think about those two words for a moment). Scissorgod is not that far away from absorption & understanding like maybe Flystrips was, but scene sheriffs will predictably feel themselves as targets…and fucking definitely will the Scissorgod cut & stab some small-stature sheriffs.

The production of Scissorgod deserves special attention. This time, Reveal did not lock themselves up in a punkish DIY process, but hired none other than Martin -Konie- Ehrenkrona (In Solitude, Henrik Palm, Pig Eyes, Nifelheim) to turn the knobs and entered the Cobra Studios in Stockholm. The result is a top-notch production that evokes the feeling that Reveal are playing live in your room.

So, don’t be afraid: be thankful – be faithful – for what Reveal has to say. It can be the soundtrack while we dance a spiral downwards, down through a hole.

Cover and tracklisting are as follows:

VALOSTA VARJOON set release date for PURITY THROUGH FIRE debut, reveal first track

Today, Purity Through Fire sets October 31st as the international release date for Valosta Varjoon‘s striking debut album, Oberpfälzer Wald, on regular jewelcase CD and A5 digipack limited to 100 copies. Cassette tape version to be released by Worship Tapes.

Valosta Varjoon formed in 2016 as a solo endeavor of V. V. A first demo was released the following year, but in 2018 was V. V. joined by guitarist Sturmwulf, and thereafter did the Valosta Varjoon aesthetic truly begin to blossom. A split tape with Mexican comrades Viha Surma came in 2018, and then earlier this year, Purity Through Fire delivered the German & Slavonic Heathen Unity split CD, with Valosta Varjoon joined by Czarnobog and Necro Forest.

Alas, all these short-length attacks have coalesced into one mighty debut statement with Oberpfälzer Wald. With preternatural ease, Valosta Varjoon here create infinitely stirring & nostalgic sounds from black metal’s glorious 1990s era. Castles, cloaks, swords, snow – all these sensations are evoked, and plenty more, with a sound that’s the epitome of Bavarian Black Metal.

Proudly pagan, the eight immediately memorable anthems comprising Oberpfälzer Wald instill a constantly ascending sensation, but subtly so. Valosta Varjoon here prove themselves as masters of texture, their riffing rich with emotion but never overwrought; simply but by no means simple, a hook is introduced and then maximized with a hypnotic hummability, all before seamlessly flowing into the next. It’s a cold ‘n’ majestic magick, and all done with an austere understanding of everything that makes traditional black metal work. Which is to say nothing of the album’s production: a gleaming-yet-ghostly sort of rawness, reverberating with boundless depth and iron-fisted punch alike, each Bathorian lead sparkling and crackling with the night’s most mysterious energies.

Stern but ever-knowing, German black metal has lurked on the shadowy periphery for decades, mindfully mining quality over quantity and subtlety over ostentatiousness. Now does a profound new iteration of the Olde arrive with Valosta Varjoon‘s Oberpfälzer Wald! Raise the banners for that arrival with the new track “Die Turmwackler” here:
