Today, American black metallers Luring premiere the new track “Born With the Devil’s Marking”. The track is the second to be revealed from the band’s highly anticipated third album, Malevolent Lycanthropic Heresy, set for international release on December 13th via Iron Bonehead Productions. Hear Luring‘s “Born With the Devil’s Marking” in its entirety here:
Belonging to the Order of the Broken Sword circle which includes labelmates Azathoth’s Dream and Wuldorgast, Luring made their public debut in 2018 with the Interitu Caret Devotione ad Coronam Satanas demo. From there, with the successive full-lengths Victory Fires Ablaze Under the Banner of Lucifer and the Iron Bonehead-released Triumphant Fall of the Malignant Christ last year, Luring have slowly-yet-assuredly become one of the most exciting developments in American black metal of recent years, effortlessly finessing a stridently classicist form that doesn’t point toward preceding idioms too obviously nor overly.
Perhaps reaching their apotheosis of such, Luring now deliver Malevolent Lycanthropic Heresy. The trio’s third album features much of the same foundation as its two LP predecessors – rippling physicality fused with otherworldly texture, inspired by contemporaneously early Abigor and Gorgoroth as equally as turn-of-the-millennium Nocternity and Lunar Aurora – but here do Luring intensify the extremes of their sound. On one hand, that physicality goes a more gutted direction, digging deep into sepulchral catacombs almost deathly. On another hand (and especially as the album plays on), their once-subtle melodicism goes to bolder lengths: some more melancholic, others more triumphant, but always with a fully developed narrative arc. Interestingly, half the album is given to instrumental tracks that aren’t strictly “ambient” in the usual black metal sense(s), imparting haunting / alluring atmospheres that thread seamlessly into Malevolent Lycanthropic Heresy‘s overall sensory experience; however, there are touches of true ambient within the other four, otherwise-black-metal songs. Altogether, and armed with a cleaner and yet still-analog production, Luring render their third full-length a never-belabored masterclass in black metal both authentically ancient and refreshingly modern.

On January 3rd, 2025 internationally, Mutagenic Host will release their highly anticipated debut album, The Diseased Machine. The album will be co-released by Gurgling Gore (vinyl, cassette), Dry Cough Records (vinyl, cassette), and Memento Mori (CD). The CD version will be released on January 20th, 2025.
Mutagenic Host are a five-piece band hailing from London, as part of the New Wave of British Death Metal (see also: Coffin Mulch, Celestial Sanctuary, Slimelord, Vacuous, Mortuary Spawn, etc.). The group comprises members from various parts of the UK and United States. With a diverse background spanning the hardcore, black metal, and death metal scenes, Mutagenic Host blend hardcore sensibilities and groove with the heavy, well-crafted sound reminiscent of ’90s Floridian death metal.
Mutagenic Host dive into a technological apocalypse, examining a world overshadowed by hypocritical, insidious, and murderous global powers. The band is deeply disillusioned with the traditional themes of death metal and hardcore, feeling that these subjects no longer capture the urgency of the present. Instead, Mutagenic Host tackle the modern-day specters of complacency, apathy, and the looming threat of AI. Their work is an allegory for the systematic industrialization of humanity’s eradication — whether by human hands or by the machines we create to snuff out life. In this narrative, the instruments of the state use AI to monitor, control, and suppress the population, sounding a warning of impending doom through a fresh, intense lens in the death metal genre.
The Genotoxic Demo, unleashed in early 2023 via Dry Cough, featured four tracks that plunged listeners into a cerebral mulch while simultaneously slashing through them with a ruthlessness found in the streets. Following a year of relentless live performances alongside bands such as Incantation, Fulci, Fuming Mouth, Undeath, Celestial Sanctuary, Kruelty, Portrayal of Guilt, and Doldrey, Mutagenic Host have now finished writing, producing, and recording their inaugural full-length debut, The Diseased Machine.
Aptly titled, The Diseased Machine is a dark and thought-provoking journey into that post-plague world, which frankly doesn’t feel so far away from present times. As a debut album, it consolidates Mutagenic Host‘s myriad strengths – stomping ‘n’ slamming grooves, world-eating heaviness, patient deployment of double-bass movement – and then intensifies them to an enviable degree. To be sure, the band are the proverbial well-oiled machine (but not diseased!) across the album’s ten oft-twisting tracks, the clean-yet-crushing production amplifying their strident execution. And with their fluid shifting between tank-rolling downtempo and galloping bouts of speed, we can confidently declare The Diseased Machine as the epitome of “chug and slug” – Mutagenic Host have stormed the gates to further solidify their ferocious presence in the death metal scene!
In the meantime, hear the brand-new track “Incomprehensible Methods of Slaughter” here:
Preorders will begin on November 22nd. Cover and tracklisting are as follows:

A mighty force since the ’90s, MÖRK GRYNING‘s ferocious black metal refuses to yield to trends, instead honoring their feral forebears and carving an untamed path forward. As the world braces for the release of their latest apocalyptic symphony, Fasornas Tid, the band ignites the flames of anticipation with their new single, Black Angel.
The raw, relentless energy of Black Angel beckons from the shadows, a harbinger of the madness that lurks within us all. This track captures the essence of what MÖRK GRYNING has always embodied—a defiance of the mundane and a celebration of the chaos within. The ferocity of Black Angel is unmatched, leading listeners through a dystopian landscape with a blend of melodic black metal mastery and death metal savagery that harkens back to their iconic era of Tusen år har gått…, yet resounds with the power of now.
Recorded, mixed, and mastered at Wing Studios by Sverker Widgren, Fasornas Tid promises to be a journey through the darkest corners of the human psyche. With album artwork crafted by the enigmatic C-G, every aspect of this release speaks to the unyielding spirit and dark, rebellious heart of MÖRK GRYNING.

Mörk Gryning was founded in Stockholm, Sweden in 1993 by Goth Gorgon and Draakh Kimera. Two years later they released their debut album “Tusen År Har Gått” (1995), recorded and mixed at Unisound Studios, by legendary producer Dan Swanö and released by No Fashion. The album is one of the milestones of the ‘90s Swedish Black Metal scene.
The group returned to action in November 1996, working at Sunlight Studios together with Tomas Skogsberg and Dismember’s Fred Estby to craft the “Return Fire” album. Over the following years, three more albums were released, for example “Maelstrom Chaos” with new guitarist Avathar, a scene veteran, recorded at the legendary Grieghallen Studios Bergen, Norway.
Ever since the debut album, “Tusen år har gått…”, Mörk Gryning has refused to follow in the footsteps of others and walked their own paths – something which is made very clear on the 2003 release “Pieces of Primal Expressionism”, an experimental and heavy progressive release recorded at Dug Out, produced by Daniel Bergstrand. After a couple of years of touring and festival performances, the band was put on hold.
Returning to the scene again in 2017, the band performed an exclusive live show in Stockholm playing all the songs from the debut album and some other songs from the back catalogue. This ended in releasing the 4-song live record called “Live at Kraken”. During the pandemic the comeback album “Hinsides Vrede” was released to much critical acclaim with many of the songs today being the backbone of their live shows. A new album is scheduled for release in 2024 and the band is more active than ever.

In their endless quest to push and support current underground acts that perpetuate the odor of vintage death metal, Memento Mori are extremely thrilled to announce a new signing: Ataudes, from Argentina.
The entity known as Ataudes was called forth in Buenos Aires back in 2019, out of a rabid desire to play blackened death metal pervaded by destructive riffs, blastbeats, and gut-wrenching vocals, and exhibiting a dazzling taste for haunting sections that create an eerie atmosphere that spreads through their music like a malevolent blend of all things morbid. From the high-speed rampages to the creepier slower parts, Ataudes have a brilliantly grim and defiling sound that hits all the right spots for old-school extreme metal diehards to feast upon. The band are recommended for fans Morbid Angel, Blood Incantation, Spectral Voice, Immolation, Dead Congregation, Krypts, and Incantation.
Ataudes‘ second full-length is due out on April 21st, 2025. Memento Mori will release the CD version, and Obscure Disharmony Records will take care of the tape version. Further details to follow in the coming months. For more info, consult the links below.
Today, Osmose Productions announces December 27th as the international release date for CMPT‘s highly anticipated second album, Na utrini, on CD and vinyl LP formats.
The second in the ambitious Balkan black metal trilogy, started with the debut album Na utrini, offers a conceptual prequel set before the events of the previous album begin to unfold. Utrina comes from the local vocabulary usually meaning a neglected, uncultivated land that no one pays attention to anymore. It is a desolate piece of land at the end of villages, between fields and forests, roads and marshlands, alienated and abandoned by common folk.
While Krv i pepeo carries the symbol of bloodlust, Na utrini paves its way in symbols of land, mud, and dirt and, as such, explores the world located on the northern wing of the Danube bank in the lower part of the Pannonian basin. These wet and muddy lands at the foot of the Carpathians were, for centuries, both home and the grave for numerous empires and civilizations, many of which still have their mark in local folklore, beliefs, and toponyms. It was here that the ancestors of the southern Slavs made their last stop before definitively settling on the Balkan Peninsula.
Once again following the night and the local “demon hour” (Serbian: “gluvo doba”), Na utrini is a record about the darkness of abandoned places, old ruins, cemeteries, wastelands, and liminal spaces that time has forgotten.
First track premiere to be revealed on December 2nd. Preorder info can be found HERE. Cover and tracklisting are as follows:

Today, German black metallers Chaos Invocation stream the entirety of their highly anticipated fifth album, Wherever We Roam…. Set for international release on November 8th via AOP Records, hear Chaos Invocation‘s Wherever We Roam… in its entirety here:
The journey of Chaos Invocation started in the fourth year of this millennium. Ever since the beginning, it has been the intention to manifest the members’ beliefs and experiences in Satanic music. As a trident lineup, Chaos Invocation released three full-length records: In Bloodline With The Snake (2009), Black Mirror Hours (2013), and Reaping Season, Bloodshed Beyond (2018). Shortly before the release of the latter, Omega (drums) and Tumulash (bass guitar) joined the founding members A. (guitars) and M. (vocals) and enriched the band with another spearhead. As a four-piece, Chaos Invocation recorded Devil, Stone & Man (2022): a wild, fierce, and challenging ride into the more sepulchral and dangerous realms of the black metal genre and a sonic monument of Satanic worship and sheer metallic fury. Devil, Stone & Man also marked the first collaboration with V. Santura at Woodshed Studio, with whom they also recorded their latest output.
Titled Wherever We Roam…, Chaos Invocation‘s fifth full-length looks to the past to see the trails to blaze ahead. Where Devil, Stone & Man maintained an incredibly direct aspect – arguably, the German’s most straightforwardly aggressive material to date, all grime and gnarl suiting the dark times in which it was birthed – Wherever We Roam… sees Chaos Invocation bringing back their burning-black melodicism, which heightens the authentically second-wave vibes intrinsic to their enduring aesthetic. Still serpentine and sinuous, their songwriting has continued to focus on expressions of a direct nature rather than busy themselves with overbearing complexity. Put another way, the quintet have focused on the more dynamic currents of Reaping Season, Bloodshed Beyond and simply sharpened them to a judicious degree, all given nightsky flight through the crisp & clean production – wholly organic, wholly powerful – as well as the oft-soaring leads.
As such, Wherever We Roam… feels anthemic, boundless, and wholly tailor-made for the stage, where Chaos Invocation have considerable experience; since their first live appearance in 2009, they’ve embarked upon several European tours as well as playing several smaller tours and festivals all over the European continent. “Our journey is far from being over,” state the band, and “we cannot wait to raise our banners at places we have yet not visited.” If there’s a record to slay that way forward, then surely it’s Wherever We Roam…

Today, Norwegian death metallers Shaarimoth stream the entirety of their highly anticipated third album, Devildom. set for international release today via W.T.C.Productions, hear Shaarimoth‘s Devildom in its entirety here:
Formed in 2004 but tracing its origins back to 1998, Shaarimoth emerged from the then-barren Norwegian death metal underground, and along with it, so did new incantations of darkness, death, and destruction. Both dark and ecstatic, furious and violent, defying genres, but at the same time paying tribute to its predecessors of the black arts, Shaarimoth‘s goals were firm from the very beginning.
To date, Shaarimoth have released two albums, a full 12 years apart: 2005’s Current 11 and 2017’s Temple of the Adversarial Fire. Indeed not ones to rush things, the Norwegians maximize “delayed gratification” and embrace bold & brazen reinvention. Such was the case for the universally celebrated Temple of the Adversarial Fire, which saw Shaarimoth evoking the album’s namesake: a wholesale stripping-down their aesthetic to its barest essentials, only to be rebuilt into an incendiary, black-smoke-billowing monolith of blackened death metal majesty. Rarely in the nowadays metal underground will one hear a death metal record this pure and reverential in its intent whilst being so suffused with the blackest of blood…that is, until the arrival of Devildom.
Almost elegantly simple in its title, Devildom nevertheless reveals the fullest depth(s) of Shaarimoth‘s ever-entrancing vision. The template remains unyielding and limitless – technical Morbid Angel-esque death metal given unique twists in texture, ambience, and authentically occult lyrical content – but the execution of such is taken, impossibly, up to yet another level. Devildom delves into themes of darkness, death, rebellion, and the acosmic forces of the infernal, guiding the listener on a journey through the boundless abyss, beyond the illusions of creation. It reveals a path to transcendence, returning to the true darkness from which all things arise and to which they will eventually return. Grounded in esoteric philosophies and dark spiritual doctrines, the music acts as a conduit to an otherworldly domain where reality’s limitations are cast aside to embrace the forbidden light of the dark gods. More than just a collection of songs, Devildom offers a ritualistic experience meant to invoke the Devil’s presence and power, immersing the listener in a realm of liberating madness. This journey celebrates the sinister and the spiritual, inviting exploration of the shadow self and crossing the boundaries between the mundane and the mystical to confront the darker aspects of existence.
Thankfully, a dozen years were not necessary for Shaarimoth to continue the glorious new epoch they ushered in with Temple of the Adversarial Fire. Patiently and painstakingly crafted all the same, Devildom soundly cements Shaarimoth‘s status as the Devil’s Death Metal ELITE.
