Since the inception in 2014, EARTH ROT have pulled no punches, recording, releasing and touring heavily across Australia, Asia and Europe with no intent of settling for anything less. Their debut album ‘Follow The Black Smoke’ was released in the same year, quickly followed by the ‘Chthonian Virtues’ EP (2016) and the second full length ‘Renascentia’ in 2017.

Chile’s INVOCATION set release date for new IRON BONEHEAD mini-album, reveal first track

Today, Iron Bonehead Productions announces February 21st, 2020 as the international release date for the highly anticipated mini-album of Chile’s Invocation, Attunement to Death, on CD and 12″ vinyl formats.

It was but the early autumn of 2018 when Invocation released The Mastery of the Unseen EP through Iron Bonehead. Although only two songs, The Mastery of the Unseen was presciently titled, for the power-trio made masterful strides since their debut CDR in 2016 and the extremely promising Seance Part. I demo released later that year. Exhibiting the same sulfurous energy as the first works but now displaying a uniquely feral poise, that two-song salvo set the stage for yet another presciently titled work: Attunement to Death.

Indeed, with Attunement to Death, Invocation are reaching a hellish harmony with their classic South American diabolism, but imbuing it with an ever-deeper – and ever-more-unique – aspect that bountifully displays their authentic grounding in the occult. In fact, one could argue that Attunement to Death is a clear ‘n’ cutting iteration of the Invocation aesthetic, robust and roiling and brimming with a confidence that betrays their still-young years as a band. And yet, for however well-recorded Attunement to Death might be (and executed with deadly precision by the band), there’s nevertheless a gritty, time-honored analog feel to Invocation‘s fiery ruminations. Hysteria begat possession previously, but now is offered transcendence for the willing listener/acolyte…

Open thine hearts and ears, then, and join with Invocation in their Attunement to Death! Begin opening thine hearts and ears with the brand-new track “Flying Ointments” here:
Cover and tracklisting are as follows:

Tracklisting for Invocation (Chile)’s Attunement to Death
1. Oppression
2. Flying Ointments
3. Divine Transition
4. The First Mirror
5. The Officiants
6. Secret Tongues

DKBM stalwarts Blot & Bod stream new Iron Bonehead album

Today, DKBM stalwarts Blot & Bod stream the entirety of their highly anticipated second album, Ormekongens Argelist. Set for international release on December 6th via Iron Bonehead Productions, hear Blot & Bod‘s Ormekongens Argelist in its entirety here:
Blot & Bod is Jøran Elvestad and brothers Erik and Jesper Bagger Hviid – a Norwegian and two Danes. The trio serves in the new wave of DKBM under the Korpsånd banner, with members also taking part in such bands as Jordslået, Grifla da la Secta, War is Aer, BRODER and Ærekær. Just one year ago, the band released their debut album, Ligæder, on vinyl LP format through Iron Bonehead. Although it was initially released on cassette (as was their debut EP) through Fallow Field, this Iron Bonehead edition of Blot & Bod‘s debut album spread their name far and wide, proclaiming a new iron-fisted iteration of primitive black metal fury.

Wasting little time nor resting on any laurels, Blot & Bod intensify that iron-fisted iteration with a swift ‘n’ decisive second LP, Ormekongens Argelist. As every other release from the aforementioned Copenhagen scene, Ormekongens Argelist was recorded in a studio at the legendary venue Mayhem, ensuring clear-yet-cutting production that heightens Blot & Bod‘s bloodthirsty attack. From their mutual cultural heritage and through their respective native tongues, the power-trio have fully established a framework of Norse mythology, where they throw you deeper into head-first into their idiosyncratic battlefield. Just like on Ligæder, here the swords of both mind and body cross blades till they are worn down to grains and are ready to be forged back into shape.

No great changes take place across Ormekongens Argelist, nor should they: Blot & Bod have crafted a singular sound that’s reverent of black metal traditionalism but by no means is bound to it unnecessarily. Simply, their spiritual spectrum is more focused than ever, a joyously violent bounty of minimal-is-maximal songwriting executed (literally) with the fury and finesse of craftsmen quickly becoming cognizant of their boundless powers. And, just like that, within 30 minutes is Ormekongens Argelist concluded, and Blot & Bod emerge transcendent. Burn brightly, burn quickly, but never fade away…

Cover and tracklisting are as follows:
Tracklisting for Blot & Bod’s Ormekongens Argelist

2. Hug
3. Åråd
4. Tæft
5. Hævd
6. Slid

Monolithic black/death cult Witchbones stream new Iron Bonehead album

Today, monolithic black/death cult Witchbones stream the entirety of their highly anticipated second album, The Seas of Draugen. Set for international release on December 6th via Iron Bonehead Productions, hear WitchbonesThe Seas of Draugen in its entirety here:
Hailing from Portland, Oregon, just last year did Witchbones form but soon began an onslaught of dark ‘n’ devastating short-lengths. At the beginning of 2019 alone, mainman Vardlokker released two EPs a month apart – Akasha and Entropy Rite, respectively, through Witchbones‘ Bandcamp – and right behind it, the aptly titled debut album We Haunt Ourselves. More momentum continued with the Akasha II The Lost Demos compilation and then another EP, The Mirror Effect, slated for Halloween.

But, like a man possessed, Vardlokker aligns himself with Iron Bonehead to unleash Witchbones‘ densest and most penetrating recording yet, The Seas of Draugen. Like its aquatic, mythological namesake, here does Vardlokker drown the listener in wave after wave of shuddering, shivering horror that looks and sounds and feels very much like familiar bestial black/death, but is instead uniquely imbued with a wandering, amorphous atmosphere that creates a truly unsettling tension. Crushing but cast away, doomed to solitude and one’s own internal destruction, the literally massive, ever-so-slowly-roiling maelstrom Witchbones conjures forth is echoed within the thematic arc of The Seas of Draugen itself: setting sail with “The Nun Collector,” taking in a “Nebulous Ghost Ship” later on, and sending that listener to the torrid depths, that veritable Davy Jones’ Locker of the soul & spirit, with the concluding trifecta of “The Ritual Continues (We Haunt Ourselves),” “At the Shores (Draugen’s Revenge),” and “The Candle Burns Alone (Dead Sailors).”

Smothered by the sea, ravaged by bestial frequency, DOOM assuredly and austerely spelled out either way, Witchbones commits you to the gravest depths of The Seas of Draugen.
Cover and tracklisting are as follows:
Tracklisting for Witchbones’ The Seas of Draugen
1. The Nun Collector

PROSCRITO set release date for MEMENTO MORI debut, reveal first track

In their endless quest to push and support current underground acts that perpetuate the odor of vintage death metal, on January 27th, 2020, Memento Mori is proud to present Proscrito‘s striking debut album, Llagas y Estigmas.

Proscrito was born from the ashes of the sloppier incarnation known as Calvario in 2016, paying homage to the too-doomed-to-be-dead/too-dead-to-be-doomed parts of releases like Satanic Rites, Erupted Evil, The Dying Truth, Embrace the Death, Mental Funeral, Lost Paradise, Into Darkness, Worship Him, or Reflections of the Solstice, crafting slow & churning tracks that were to be (not really) perfected with the band’s debut EP, El Calvario, in 2017: a release filled with an all-encompassing passion for decay and rottenness, from the penitent and flagellant opening track “Via Crucis” to the closing instrumental mantra that is “Puteado,” pounding caveman percussion, thundering bass, and wah-soloing frenziness in between.

After three days of morbid delirium at Moontower Studios (Ataraxy, Graveyard, Oniricous, Teitanblood), once again under Javier Felez’s supervision, Proscrito‘s follow-up to the debut EP took form with some more echoes to the days of yore, as a full-length frontal assault titled Llagas y Estigmas (“Sores and Stigmata”), featuring five disgruntled litanies of blood, sweat, and no-tears imagery reminiscent of Robert E. Howard and Cormac McCarthy, muscular riffage, vomit and mucus. Tracks like “Marcado por la Pezuña,” “Tronos de Oprobio” or their (scato)logical outcome “Pantalgia” truly persist with that tradition of primitiveness, putting the stress both in the DEATH and the METAL, for doom has always been the band’s destiny, its powers and wisdom.

Any way you describe it, the dense ‘n’ sulfurous rumble this Spanish power-trio creates can cause tectonic shifts as ably as it can rot your soul. There’s an almost uncomfortably carefree, laissez faire approach to Proscrito‘s ritualistic plod, as if the band is indifferently acting as a conduit for supernatural frequencies only they can sense. It’s not often that Memento Mori dips its toes into the doomier end of death metal, but when it does, be fucking sure that it’s for good reason! And indeed, Llagas y Estigmas is one bad-ass GOOD REASON!

The first Bad-Ass Good Reason can be found with the brand-new track “Persistiendo” here:
Cover and tracklisting are as follows:
Tracklisting for Proscrito’s Llagas y Estigmas 1. Persistiendo [9:21] 2. Tronos de Oprobio [7:05]
3. Exequias [5:37]
4. Marcado por la Pezuña [7:18]
5. Pantalgia [11:07]

Bestial black/death commando Human Agony stream Invictus debut album

Today, bestial black/death commando Human Agony stream the entirety of their highly anticipated debut album. Set for international release today via Invictus Productions, hear Human Agony‘s Putrescence of Calvary in its entirety here.
Since forming in 2016, Human Agony have cast an outsized shadow. Having released just a handful of demos and splits, Human Agony‘s catalog is sparse but strong, corroborated by the band’s devastating live performances on recent tours. With this debut full-length, Putrescence of Calvary, Human Agony display the full might of their weaponry.

Comparisons to Conqueror, Revenge, and Black Witchery are inevitable, and indeed, Human Agony are among the few elite bands deserving of such comparisons. That the band hails from Victoria, B.C.—known for the infamous Ross Bay Cemetery and a longstanding history of Satanic and occult activity—naturally also draws attention to the profound influence of Blasphemy. But Human Agony offer more than rote regurgitation of the bestial black/death and war metal tropes.

Whereas many, if not most, bands that attempt to play this subgenre tend to be style over substance, Human Agony demonstrate an intense dedication to writing songs that are complex and captivating. While the musicianship on these tracks is undeniably impressive, it is the strength of the songwriting that truly set Human Agony apart. Each track contains a procession of riffs, precisely pieced together, with the collection of songs strategically sequenced to highlight the compositional arc of the album as a whole.

Significantly, the production showcases the instrumentation while maintaining the natural cacophony the band cultivates. The guitars stand out just enough to give voice to the riffs, as the frenzied, violent pulse of the drums bludgeons the listener. The unhinged solos and precise cutaways add a degree of unpredictability to the songs, while the wretched vocals lend a feral element to the recording. Interspersed among the tracks are occasional unsettling interludes and extraneous noise to disorient the listener before being propelled back into the fray. Bookending the album are an intro and outro performed by harsh noise musician Striations, who has toured with and collaborated with Human Agony in the past.

In every way, Putrescence of Calvary is the fulfillment of the promise of Human Agony‘s earlier work—the blood-drenched blossom of war’s carnage. Finally, the cover illustration by the skilled and highly regarded Finnish artist Heidi Kettunen, known for contributing cover art for Ride For Revenge, superbly complements Human Agony‘s music and provides a fitting aesthetic for this debut album.

Order info can be found HERE at Invictus‘ Bandcamp.

NATTVERD reveal first track from new OSMOSE album – also reveal cover art, tracklisting

With their sophomore full-length album, Styggdom, set for release on Osmose Productions on January 31st, 2020, fans of Norwegian black metallers Nattverd get their first taste of what to expect from the album with the debut of the track “Dragsvoll,” which can be heard here:
Formed two years ago and with a lineup of extremely experienced and talented musicians – comprised today of Serpentr on vocals, Ormr on vocals and guitars, Atyr on guitars, Sveinr on bass, and Antichristian (Tsjuder et. al.) on session drums – Nattverd has always sought to keep the actual identity of those musicians private, preferring that the band be judged purely on its music, as opposed to any former, current, or future bands or releases its members may be involved in.

Nattverd‘s extremely successful debut album, Vi Vet gud Er En Løgner, showed a band that played black metal in the traditional way: cold and nasty and filled with fury and hate. But with Styggdom, Nattverd have grown and expanded, here coming up with a much more varied and atmospheric album – an album that shows just how versatile this band can be when it comes to delivering black metal.

Drums, bass, guitars, and vocals for Styggdom were recorded at Velvet Recording, Spydeberg, Norway and engineered by Nattverd and Christer Krogh. Mixing and mastering was handled by Tore Stjerna at the Necromorbus Studios.

With artwork, layout and design by Khaos Diktator Design, Styggdom will be available in CD, vinyl LP, and digital formats. Preorder info can be found HERE.

Feel the onrush of sweeping arpeggios, crushing waves of fretless bass, complex rhythmical patterns and erupting scales peppered with jazzy feeling and masterful execution under the mark of ‘Algorythm’, which names the third full-length of BEYOND CREATION.

The French part of Canada is home to a vibrant culture of technical Death Metal fostered by outstanding acts such as GORGUTS, CRYPTOPSY, MARTYR, and NEURAXIS. This illustrious family tree has produced many sprouts in the past, yet none of them are as brilliant as Quebec’s amazing scion: BEYOND CREATION!

BEYOND CREATION saw the light of day in 2005 in Montreal, Canada but it wasn’t until 2010 that the band was ready to hit the stage with their original line-up consisting of Simon Girard, Kevin Chatré, Guyot Bégin-Benoît and Dominic ‘Forest’ Lapointe. A year later, the band self-released their debut full-length album ‘The Aura’ (2011), which quickly became a highlight in the genre. Since then, BEYOND CREATION has been known as the progressive, innovative and exciting new metal sound of their homeland, Quebec.

In late 2012, the band had Philippe Boucher (Ex-FIRST FRAGMENT, INCADESCENSE, CHTHE’ILIST, DÉCOMBRES) take Guyot’s place on drums and things started moving at a faster pace in 2013, when they joined Season of Mist, re-releasing ‘The Aura’ and touring North America and Japan. In 2014, BEYOND CREATION released their second masterpiece ‘Earthborn Evolution‘.

After the addition of Hugo Doyon-Karout (BROUGHT BY PAIN, EQUIPOISE, CONFLUX) on bass, the band focused on touring as much as possible on the ‘Earthborn Evolution’ album cycle compiling 3 North American tours, 3 European tours, countless shows in Canada, appearances in Mexico, Colombia and Dubaï, sharing the stage with heavy weights like ARCH ENEMY, HATE ETERNAL, MISERY INDEX, DYING FETUS, PSYCROPTIC and OBSCURA. They also took part in multiple large-scale music festivals such as Hellfest (FR), 70 000 Tons of Metal (US), UK Tech-Fest, Montebello Rockfest (CA), Heavy MTL (CA) and Damnation Fest (UK).

In 2018, BEYOND CREATION recorded their highly-anticipated third album ‘Algorythm’ at The Grid Studio in home land Canada, which is set for release on October 12th, 2018. With the new album, BEYOND CREATION delivers a ferocious blend of technicality, melody, and brutality aided by fang-filled growls, which is interwoven with beautiful progressive interludes. Prepare for the lightning evolution of the progressive technical death metal revolution!

ARKONA premiere “Age Of Capricorn”

[Press Release] ARKONA premiere “Age Of Capricorn”

Age Of Capricorn“, the seventh album from one of Poland’s leading Black Metal acts, ARKONA, is nearing its release through Debemur Morti Productions. With the album slated to drop in less than three weeks, Decibel Magazine is now hosting a stream of its mighty title track.

ARKONA is where the lightless spirits of second and third wave black metal assume modern form in an all too relatable maelstrom of degradation and disquiet, alienation and anger, hypnosis and horror. Recorded, mixed, and mastered at Impressive Art Studio, “Age Of Capricorn” is blessed with a crisp production that foregrounds a jackhammer relentlessness of near-industrial proportions, leaving the listener gasping for air as they are bludgeoned into inverted cathedrals of sound.

The album is completed with cover art and layout by Church Of Chaos Multimedia.Decibel writes in part with their premiere, “Aided by a flurry of icy riffs and an intense-but-clean production job, ‘Age Of Capricorn’ feels like the sonic equivalent to being trapped in the eye of a storm: despite the chaotic and turbulent nature of the song, ARKONA keep things neat and controlled. The end result is a song and album that black metal devotees would be mistaken to miss out on as the year and decade draw to a close.

Stream ARKONA’s “Age Of Capricorn” early only through Decibel right here.

Age Of Capricorn” will see release through Debemur Morti Productions on digipack CD, gatefold 12″ LP, a special edition gatefold 12″ LP limited to 100 copies, and all digital platforms on December 13th. Find preorders at the European webshop, North American webshop and Bandcamp.

ARKONA is currently plotting new tour dates to support “Age Of Capricorn“. The band is confirmed to play Metalowa Wigilia 2019 alongside SÓLSTAFIR, PRIMORDIAL, CARPATHIAN FOREST, and more on December 21st, and has already started confirming tour dates for the new year including Under The Black Sun Festival 2020 with NAGLFAR, MYSTIFIER and others on July 2nd.

Watch for updates to post in the months ahead.

ANGELBLAST set release date for EDGED CIRCLE debut EP – features members of Sweden’s EXCRUCIATE and DARKENED

Today, Edged Circle Productions announces December 20th as the international release date for AngelBlast‘s striking debut EP, Rotting Paradise, on 7″ vinyl and digital formats.

Although a brand-new entity, AngelBlast hold a wealth of experience within their ranks, featuring members from old-school Swedeath cult Excruciate as well as fellow labelmates Darkened. And one listen to the swift ‘n’ slaying Rotting Paradise is proof enough of those deeply entrenched Metal of Death values: throttling and propulsive, winding and dynamic, clear yet crushing, malevolently melodic, and with mind-melted solos to literally die for, AngelBlast rip through two tracks (plus eerie outro) with a passion and possession that simply cannot be denied. References to be made include ’90s Morbid Angel, Dissection, Necrophobic, Malevolent Creation, and Unanimated, but on evidence of Rotting Paradise, AngelBlast are well on their way to etching an infernal circle all their own. Suitably, this opening salvo features amazing artwork by Juanjo Castellano Rosado (Unleashed, Revel in Flesh, Gates of Ishtar).

Be on the lookout for a debut album through Edged Circle next year, and step into AngelBlast‘s Rotting Paradise in the meantime! Aforementioned cover art and tracklisting are as follows:

1. Rotting Paradise
2. Descending of the Immortals
3. Incarnation of the Fallen
