BIO
One year ago in April drummer Pale Horse (Disfigured Dead/NilExistence) was looking to start another band, and reached out to people who might be interested. Among the parties was Llord Diabolus (ex Violent Fury/Infernal Thorn, Maantrix) who joked of starting a Darkthrone worship band. The two have known of another through shows in the past but never really talked too much. They met to jam and see if anything took root a week or so after the initial talk, and that day wrote the first track on the EP: “From Throne to Funeral”. The title for that song summoned up a lot of key musical fusing and the initial Darkthrone worship joke was spun into “more Dark Funeral than Throne!” After that day The Pale Horse contacted Svartherre (Disfigured Dead/NilExistence) who plays in NilExistence to join the new band. After that the group quickly composed the five tracks over the next months, and entered the studio to record live the debut EP entitled Beyond the Veil of Light.

Fast-rising black metal classicists Asagraum premiere new video

Today, fast-rising black metal classicists Asagraum premiere the new video “Abomination’s Altar. The track hails from the band’s highly anticipated second album, Dawn of Infinite Fire, set for international release on September 13th via Edged Circle Productions. See & hear Asagraum‘s “Abomination’s Altar” video in its entirety here:
A cross-continental entity, Asagraum was founded in the autumn of 2015 by vocalist/guitarist Obscura, who was joined by drummer T. Kolsvart, to create pure Satanic black metal with the old-school feeling of the eternal ’90s greats and with dark psychedelic influences. A three-track promo recording was released in early 2017, laying bare Asagraum‘s aims and sound. Wasting no time, debut album Potestas Magicum Diaboli was recorded, mixed at the esteemed Necromorbus Studio, and released by KVLT Records in September 2017. Upon its release, the album reaped widespread acclaim across the world, garnering attention largely because it was the work of two women – a rarity in black metal, both past and especially present – who quickly rendered gender an irrelevant argument, so strong was the towering power of Potestas Magicum Diaboli.

At the end of 2017, T. Kolsvart was replaced and drummer A. took part in the coven. Many live performances commenced with this new lineup, and Asagraum‘s black flame burned brighter than ever, as they spread that flame across Europe, Canada, and Latin America, aided in these live performances by Mortifero or Makhashanah and additional guitarist V-Kaos. Soon enough, the band garnered a recording contract with instant fans Edged Circle Productions – whose owner, Iscariah, played in Immortal during the late ’90s and early 2000s – and anticipation has reached a fever pitch for their imminent sophomore album.

Alas, it has arrived under the ominous (and prescient) title Dawn of Infinite Fire. Quite accurately, Dawn of Infinite Fire sees Asagraum burning with equally intensity in songwriting, execution, and atmosphere, staying true to their original aims whilst pushing their classicist sound further into the present. Granted, that blast-from-the-past classicism is inescapable – this is pure, traditional BLACK METAL above all – but not once across Dawn of Infinite Fire does that hinder their timeless expression. If anything, this is the sound of Asagraum at their most anthemic and triumphant, marching forward with obsidian austerity, reflecting their prolific presence on the live front: tangibly physical black metal, played with passion and authenticity and not augmented by cheap studio trickery. Brazen that expression might be – not to overstate the fact, but most nowadays black metal hides in the shadows – but Asagraum continue to sound fresh among that modern BM landscape, outstripping the prevailing trends and the pretenders who enable them.

If Potestas Magicum Diaboli walked a delicate-but-bold balance between aggression and atmosphere, both unapologetically modern and authentically ’90s in its sterling black metal, then Dawn of Infinite Fire is the sound of Asagraum perfecting that balance, spellbinding the listener across a deceptively vast nine-song/47-minute journey. With mixing & mastering once again courtesy of Tore Stjerna at Necromorbus Studio and literally incendiary cover artwork courtesy of Bahrull Marta, the time is nigh for Asagraum‘s Dawn of Infinite Fire!

With ‘Advent Of The Human God,’ NECRONOMICON presented themselves at a new height in their long lasting career, which began as early as 1988 with the founding of the band by guitarist and singer Rob “The Witch” in the deep northern part of Canadian province Quebec, called the “Fjord of Saguenay.” Now, they continue to push the envelope with their sixth studio album, ‘UNUS.’

‘UNUS’ is a searing cacophony that blends blistering riffs, machine-like drums, and a symphonic ambience, culminating in a sound that calls to various metal icons such as DIMMU BORGIR, SEPTICFLESH, BEHEMOTH, and DEICIDE. The record combines the furious elements of death metal with the symphonic prowess of black metal, creating the perfect synthesis of both genres and ultimately

NECRONOMICON have a well-earned reputation for quality by releasing material only when ready and satisfied with the outcome ever since their demo entitled ‘Morbid Ritual’ (1992) firmly established their name within the underground. ‘The Silver Key”EP (1996) led to mainstream recognition on a national level, but their debut album ‘Pharaoh Of Gods” (1999) and the sophomore ‘The Sacred Medicines’ (2003) did even more to establish the band as a household name in Canada.

‘Return Of The Witch’ (2010) marked the international break-through for NECRONOMICON, and saw them performing at prestigious festivals such as Inferno (Norway), Ragnarok (Germany), and the Barge To Hell metal cruise among others, while sharing stages with acts such as CRADLE OF FILTH, DIMMU BORGIR, BEHEMOTH, and MORBID ANGEL, to name but a few. Their steady advance around the globe grew considerably in impact by their next full-length “Rise Of The Elder Ones” (2013). By the time the band released ‘Advent Of The Human Gods’ (2016), they were met with international critical acclaim. Now, with ‘Unus,’ the band show that they aren’t slowing down and are ready to deliver another vicious strike! Prepare for the darkness to envelop you…

Having reaped critical acclaim for their latest album ‘Finisterre’ (2017) and solidifying their position as one of the best live bands out there, DER WEG EINER FREIHEIT are about to release their first ever live album, recorded in Lido, Berlin (Germany) on October 14, 2017. The set, featuring songs from the band’s entire discography, is a testimony to the technical prowess of these musicians and the fine craftmanship in songwriting that the German band is widely known for.

Over the relatively short period of 10 years, the sound of DER WEG EINER FREIHEIT has clearly progressed, making each piece fit more seamlessly. ‘Finisterre’ flows together into a coherent picture that stresses the Germans’ unique approach and sound. This album marks the point where DER WEG EINER FREIHEIT turn their various influences into a work entirely of their own expression despite never trying to cover up their roots. This impressive maturity has been reached through several stages.

Founded in 2009 by guitarist Nikita Kamprad and vocalist Tobias Jaschinsky, DER WEG EINER FREIHEIT garnered early attention with their self-released debut ‘Der Weg einer Freiheit’ (2009), which quickly sold out and was re-issued with new drum tracks a year later. Following the ‘Agonie’ EP (2011), their second album ‘Unstille’ (2012) already cored international acclaim. In the aftermath of this record, co-founding member Tobias left and main songwriter Nikita Kamprad took over his vocal duties.

The frontman was first heard on third full-length ‘Stellar’ (2015), which saw DER WEG EINER FREIHEIT gaining traction across the pond as well as expanding their European base. Having performed along such diverse acts as WOLVES IN THE THRONE ROOM, NEAERA, THE BLACK DAHLIA MURDER, AMENRA, CRIPPLED BLACK PHOENIX, and DOWNFALL OF GAIA as well as playing prestigious festivals such as Graspop, Hellfest, Resurrection, Roadburn, Summer Breeze, and Wacken has honed the band’s songwriting skills to razor-sharp precision.

Scottish black metal cult Valaraukar stream their Iron Bonehead Debut

Today, Scottish black metal cult Valaraukar stream the entirety of their striking debut album, Demonian Abyssal Visions. Set for international release on June 21st via Iron Bonehead Productions, hear Valaraukar‘s Demonian Abyssal Visions in its entirety here:
Hailing from Edinburgh, Valaraukar are a formidable black metal duo whose sound encapsulates very real, potent visions of dark supremacy and empowerment. Their first full-length recording following a two-song demo in 2018, Demonian Abyssal Visions is a wealth of hostile, masterful black metal aggression which carries introspective and abyssal undertones. Hovering and heaving and yet emitting a palpable lawlessness, Valaraukar‘s debut LP is black metal by old souls, for old souls, but by no means is tethered to try-hard “retro” tropes.

Valaraukar‘s impenetrable vision comes from the mind of guitarist/vocalist Vagath, whose enduring dedication to his dark arts are driven by inner demons and primal aspects of the subconscious. Vagath’s guitar work is fused together with the driven and powerful drumming of Sovereign, an individual committed to relentless extremity and force. Together, a swirling, sometimes-smothering/sometimes-spacious vortex of cosmic filth is created, palpably physical (and headbangingly so) despite the more spiritual parameters Valaraukar aim. Across its rich ‘n’ dynamic 43-minute runtime, the six component “visions” comprising Demonian Abyssal Visions draw the listener in with a subtly spell-like appeal. Or, put another way, visualize the music much like the album’s cover art.

New old portals have been opened by Valaraukar, and they beseech you to witness their Demonian Abyssal Visions.

Aforementioned cover and tracklisting are as follows:
Tracklisting for Valaraukar’s Demonian Abyssal Visions
1. Harnessing of Hostile Forces
2. The Unassailable Throne
3. Red Eyes Behold the Heart of Ruin
4. Visions of Truth Amidst Black Fume
5. Servants of the Nameless
6. Conquering the Void

ALCOHOLOCAUST set release date for HELLDPROD debut album, reveal first track

Today, Helldprod Records sets September 5th as the international release date for Alcholocaust‘s highly anticipated debut album, Necro Apocalipse Bestial, on CD, vinyl LP, and cassette tape formats.

Expursed from the vast and highest Portuguese mountains, the underground genes run ruthless and cold in the arms of those that aim the poisonous path of metal, unless you use those same features to warm yourself along with the night fiery ghouls. Speaking of which, what better way to do that than get shitfaced forever? It seems a curse, but in this case, it gave birth to Alcholocaust back in 2006: The Thrashing Demons of Speed Chaos Beverage!

After getting their banging heads hydrated with all sorts of alcohol, Alcholocaust always showed their musical abilities to the extreme and believe that no raw demo recording could stop them a bit. Instead, and after a successive outburst in their prime times, they have built a legion of maniacs that party hard and unleash the metal fumes like no other. Highly inflamed by the old masters of the Teutonic school of metal, they present themselves armed to the teeth and ready to indulge you neck-breaking aches in honor of their loyal inspirations such as Destruction, Sodom, Kreator, and Germany’s Poison.

“Show No Mercy” is Alcholocaust‘s theme since they care not about the scene or any kind of trendy, poser-like mainstream attitude. These guys are metal PUNKS and provide the necessary SCUM into your ears. So welcome to this diabolical gathering and embrace their first full-length in 13 years (random but appropriate lucky number), Necro Apocalipse Bestial, at its fullest haste.

Relentless to the bone and iron to the core, these 10 songs will tight you in chains and unleash your fury upon the ordinary metallic traditions. Fully sung in the native language, there’s not one single moment of fragility or chastity in sight. On the other (left) hand, you can raise your horned fist and hellbang to this powerful, impious, and obsessive rocking madness. Mandatory for backpatches, bulletbelts, spiked leather wristbands, heavy metal worshipers, and worldwide desecrating drinkers!

Begin the worldwide desecrating with the new track “Assalto Metalico,”
Cover art, courtesy of Victor Costa, and tracklisting are as follows:
Tracklisting for Alcoholocaust’s Necro Apocalipse Bestial
1. Genocidas
2. Angústia sem Fim
3. Determinismo é Real
4. A Tomada do Paraíso
5. Anátema
6. Sonho Abismal
7. Império do Terror
8. Açoite

PA VESH EN set release date for new IRON BONEHEAD album, reveal first track

Today, Iron Bonehead Productions sets August 23rd as the international release date for Pa Vesh En‘s highly anticipated second album, Pyrefication, on CD and vinyl LP formats.

In little more than two years, this Belarusian enigma has built a sizable (and starkly terrifying) catalog, culminating in last year’s critically acclaimed Church of Bones debut album and, earlier this year, the Cryptic Rites of Necromancy EP, all under the aegis of Iron Bonehead. Thus far, Pa Vesh En has exhibited a stark ‘n’ unsettling style of black metal: from stifled-violence miserablism to seemingly formless drift, from bent-askew melodicism to echo-chamber murk, always with a tortured soul guiding everything, he’s almost effortlessly created a soundworld beyond compare – and has done so with the restlessness of a lost specter.

Restless as ever, Pa Vesh En prodigiously keeps apace with his tortured vision of black metal with a brand-new second album, Pyrefication. Ever aptly titled, Pyrefication is total spiritual meltdown: this is the veritable sound of the soul collapsing inward and dying a most exquisite death. To that, Pa Vesh En draws inspiration from within, and here locates a wobbly, ever-so-delicate balance between Cryptic Rites of Necromancy‘s ultraviolent hysteria and the murkier mystery of his earliest work, all done with spellbinding alchemy that makes for a miasmic 40-minute labyrinth. If anything, Pa Vesh En seems unsettlingly comfortable taking his muse wherever he wishes on Pyrefication, malforming and maiming any atmosphere he wishes whilst maintaining that beckoning-abyssward style of melodicism he’s made his own since his auspicious start.

Once again, Pa Vesh En hands you the matches for self-immolation – will you provide the kindling for Pyrefication? The first fire can be felt with the new track “Call of the Dead” here:

Cover and Tracklisting as follows:

Tracklisting for Pa Vesh En’s Pyrefication
1. …In the Ghostly Haze
2. Wastelands of Plague
3. Call of the Dead
4. A Cacophony of Spiritual Transition

6. With Splendor of the Night
7. Fog of Death
8. Pyre of the Forgotten

Beyond Creation release new video ‘The Afterlife’

BEYOND CREATION are now premiering their brand new live video for the track ‘The Afterlife’, which is taken from the band’s latest album ‘Algorythm’.
The Canadian masters of progressive technical death metal are streaming their new offering here:

We shot this during the ‘Algorythm’ album release show, on December 8th 2018, at Le National in Montreal. There are reasons why most metal bands will agree that Montreal is one of their favorite stops on North American tours ; the energy, the fans, the crew and the venues themselves make up for one particularly unique vibe, and this video perfectly captures that! We are proud of our hometown and the impact it has been having on the metal scene! Huge thanks to everyone who came out that night and made it such an unforgettable one! Stay tuned, we have more content to share from this gig! Enjoy, share, like and subscribe! Peace!”

Feel the onrush of sweeping arpeggios, crushing waves of fretless bass, complex rhythmical patterns and erupting scales peppered with jazzy feeling and masterful execution under the mark of ‘Algorythm’, which names the third full-length of BEYOND CREATION.

The French part of Canada is home to a vibrant culture of technical Death Metal fostered by outstanding acts such as GORGUTS, CRYPTOPSY, MARTYR, and NEURAXIS. This illustrious family tree has produced many sprouts in the past, yet none of them are as brilliant as Quebec’s amazing scion: BEYOND CREATION!

BEYOND CREATION saw the light of day in 2005 in Montreal, Canada but it wasn’t until 2010 that the band was ready to hit the stage with their original line-up consisting of Simon Girard, Kevin Chatré, Guyot Bégin-Benoît and Dominic ‘Forest’ Lapointe. A year later, the band self-released their debut full-length album ‘The Aura’ (2011), which quickly became a highlight in the genre. Since then, BEYOND CREATION has been known as the progressive, innovative and exciting new metal sound of their homeland, Quebec.

In late 2012, the band had Philippe Boucher (Ex-FIRST FRAGMENT, INCADESCENSE, CHTHE’ILIST, DÉCOMBRES) take Guyot’s place on drums and things started moving at a faster pace in 2013, when they joined Season of Mist, re-releasing ‘The Aura’ and touring North America and Japan. In 2014, BEYOND CREATION released their second masterpiece ‘Earthborn Evolution‘.

After the addition of Hugo Doyon-Karout (BROUGHT BY PAIN, EQUIPOISE, CONFLUX) on bass, the band focused on touring as much as possible on the ‘Earthborn Evolution’ album cycle compiling 3 North American tours, 3 European tours, countless shows in Canada, appearances in Mexico, Colombia and Dubaï, sharing the stage with heavy weights like ARCH ENEMY, HATE ETERNAL, MISERY INDEX, DYING FETUS, PSYCROPTIC and OBSCURA. They also took part in multiple large-scale music festivals such as Hellfest (FR), 70 000 Tons of Metal (US), UK Tech-Fest, Montebello Rockfest (CA), Heavy MTL (CA) and Damnation Fest (UK).

In 2018, BEYOND CREATION recorded their highly-anticipated third album ‘Algorythm’ at The Grid Studio in home land Canada, which is set for release on October 12th, 2018. With the new album, BEYOND CREATION delivers a ferocious blend of technicality, melody, and brutality aided by fang-filled growls, which is interwoven with beautiful progressive interludes. Prepare for the lightning evolution of the progressive technical death metal revolution!

NUNSLAUGHTER to release new 7″ on HELLDPROD, reveal first track

Today, Helldprod Records sets July 31st as the international release date for a special new 7″ vinyl EP from the legendary Nunslaughter titled Antichrist.

Arguably the most prolific band this side of Japan’s Sabbat, Nunslaughter need no introduction: put simply, their brand of punkish death metal / death metallish punk is a veritable institution in its own right. And while they’ve released a handful of albums over their 32-year career, for most maniacs, Nunslaughter shine brightest (or is that darkest?) on their staggering amount of EPs.

Antichrist contains brand-new recordings of four classic Nunslaughter cuts, all recorded live in rehearsal with the band’s current lineup, bloody raw – and not a moment too soon, as they’ve been hitting the touring circuit once again after a hiatus, including a recent European tour in June. Adorned with darkly comical artwork, Antichrist is mandatory for all Nunslaughter junkies, and just about anyone addicted to death metal at its crudest and rudest!

In the meantime, hear the new recording of “Raid the Convent” here:

Cover art and tracklisting as follows:
