FLUIDS release new HELLS HEADBANGERS album today

Today, Hells Headbangers releases Fluids‘ highly anticipated fourth album, Reduced Capabilities, on CD, vinyl LP, and cassette tape formats. On the occasion of this surprise announcement, they stream the album in its entirety. Hear Fluids‘ Reduced Capabilities in its entirety here:

Since 2018, Arizona’s Fluids have been prolifically polluting the underground with their remorselessly disgusting brand of goregrind. While they no doubt made an impact with their first two full-lengths, 2019’s Exploitative Practices and 2020’s Ignorance Exalted, it was the myriad short-length assaults where Fluids truly made their loudest / lewdest declaration of total goregrind purity: knuckle-dragging, ignorant, and intensely foul ‘n’ filthy. Come / cum 2021, Fluids would join Hells Headbangers‘ dysfunctional family and release their grand-reckoning third album, Not Dark Yet, followed by a vinyl reissue of their Fluids of Death compilation and, a year after that, the all-new Fluids of Death 2 compilation. And still, the toilet was not empty…

Now, the sewers erupt again and Fluids expel their fourth full-length, Reduced Capabilities. Immediately, the full force of Fluids is felt – a characteristic stream of slimy, speculum-spreading, all-caps GOREGRIND in the grand, drum-programmed ‘n’ fuzz-toned tradition of godfathers Mortician – but more so is Reduced Capabilities the band at their most stripped-down. No intros, no samples – rather, a rugged & raw and totally streamlined approach to the foulness that is Fluids. Sublime simplicity defined, and then defiled: nothing but blasting and slamming, slamming and blasting, blasting and blasting, and slamming and slamming. Reduced Capabilities also marks the first album with newer vocalist David Duran, who plumbs the absolute depths of his throat whilst evincing slightly more articulation than most goregrinders. And then, surprise of all surprises, Fluids end the album with a cover of Moby’s “God Moving Over the Face of the Waters,” which actually isn’t so shocking given the band’s past dalliances in filmic atmospheres.

“Less is more,” more or less, and Fluids trim the fat with Reduced Capabilities!

Finnish metal/grind/crust cult Violent Hammer premiere new track

Today, Finnish metal/grind/crust cult Violent Hammer premiere the new track “Riders of the Wasteland” . The track hails from the band’s long-awaited debut album, Riders of the Wasteland, set for international release on May 29th via Hells Headbangers. Hear Violent Hammer‘s “Riders of the Wasteland” in its entirety here:
Hailing from the ever-fertile Finnish black/death underground, Violent Hammer formed in 2006. Two demos followed in short succession, in 2006 and 2007, before the band would go on hiatus. Violent Hammer would at last return in early 2014 with a new lineup and a new demo, More Victims – Demo 2014, which Shadow Kingdom would release on cassette later that year. Then, another hiatus…

However rough ‘n’ rowdy those earlier demos may have been, the reinvigorated Violent Hammer return with a full-length that handily trounces those not-inconsiderable predecessors. Aptly titled Riders of the Wasteland, Violent Hammer‘s debut album encompasses their simple yet scintillating aesthetic – the full span of death metal and black metal from the ’80s through early ’90s, early thrash, and most significantly early grindcore and UK/Swedish hardcore and crust from the ’80s – and blasts it into oblivion with the aplomb of a nuclear fallout. Unremittingly hammering and remorselessly primitive, each of the nine barbaric slabs of song across the album’s satisfyingly swift 26 minutes gets in, gets out, and fucking DESTROYS. As such, Riders of the Wasteland is deceptively catchy, much like so much ’80s grindcore was, and retains a twisted sense of fun within its gnarled ‘n’ gnarling sonics. And although Violent Hammer here invoke many names – from early Blood, Profanatica, Bestial Summoning, and Naked Whipper to likewise early Doom (UK), Extreme Noise Terror, Mob 47, and even earliest/crustiest Bolt Thrower and Napalm Death – the manner in which they slice and dice all these influences bespeaks an identity wholly unique in today’s underground landscape.

Strap in with Violent Hammer‘s Riders of the Wasteland or get smashed in the fucking face!

Also get smashed with the previously revealed track “(Trapped) in Depths” HERE at Hells Headbangers‘ Bandcamp, where the album can also be preordered.

“Come on and do the toxic waltz. Kick your friend in the head and have a ball.” These words by EXODUS fully apply to ‘Kick Me Silly – VC III’ – the third full-length frontal assault by VENOMOUS CONCEPT

The band was conceived as something like a grind punk supergroup – if that term can even be applied to a bunch of people with clear counter culture preferences. The name was quite obviously chosen to pay homage to the legendary POISON IDEA. At the core of VENOMOUS CONCEPT you will find BRUTAL TRUTH vocalist Kevin Sharp and Shane Embury, the iconic bass guitarist of NAPALM DEATH. The two musicians had bonded over beer and pizza as well as their mutual love of such punk heroes such as BLACK FLAG, SYSTEMATIC DEATH, GBH, SIEGE, and of course the aforementioned POISON IDEA.

The duo soon set about plotting its own assault on the style. Armed with bucket loads of coffee, the pair roped in Danny Herrera of NAPALM DEATH on drums as well as MELVINS guitarist Buzz Osborne. A record deal was signed with Mike Patton and VENOMOUS CONCEPT‘s first album, ‘Retroactive Abortion’ (2004) was followed by a split-CD with Japanese grind band 324 (2006) and another in 2008 with BLÖOD DÜSTER.

Buzz Osborne eventually went on a hiatus, but he never really left and there is always a chance for his return – schedules permitting. Shane switched to guitar, when longtime friend Dan Lilker (BRUTAL TRUTH, NUCLEAR ASSAULT, ex-ANTHRAX) joined on bass. Next, VENOMOUS CONCEPT brought in John Cooke of CORRUPT MORAL ALTAR on second guitar for touring. A second full-length titled ‘Poisoned Apple’ was also released in 2008.

Finally and after too long of a quiet spell, the band decided that it was time for more pizza and beer (cue the A.O.D classic). They got together with a bunch of ideas they had recorded in demo form here and there on tour, and in various smelly rehearsal studios…

VENOMOUS CONCEPT recorded their new forthcoming album during 2014, which sees the band continue in their trademark hardcore punk styles – with the added bonus of compositions by Lilker and Cooke. You will find these fire-starters branching out dynamically in order to perfect their art of grinding rock!

Like a coiled punk rock porcupine OOK is fully charged and ready for attack with ‘Kick Me Silly – VC III’! Kick ass!
