ORDER OF NOSFERAT set release date for new PURITY THROUGH FIRE album, reveal first track

Today, Purity Through Fire announces December 25th as the international release date for Order of Nosferat‘s highly anticipated sixth album, Towards the Nightrealm of Orlok, on CD, A5 digipak, vinyl LP, and cassette tape formats.

By now, those well versed in the crimes of Purity Through Fire should be well aware of Order of Nosferat. Emerging from the shadows in early 2021, the duo of Count Revenant and Anzillu released TWO full-lengths that year: Necuratul and Arrival of the Plague Bearer. And while both underground veterans are no strangers to black metal, the variety they unleashed with Order of Nosferat was most definitely OLD, in every sense of the word: undead vampiric black metal had truly arisen! Like (vampiric) clockwork, two more full-lengths followed the next year – Nachtmusik in March and Vampiric Wrath Unleashed in December – proving that their bloodthirst could not be sated. While 2023 was relatively quiet, Order of Nosferat “only” released a split album with Lunar Spells, showing a more nuanced and atmospheric side to their vampirism.

[Anzillu]

Alas, 2024 has proven to be predictably bountiful for Order of Nosferat, as The Absence of Grace arrived as the snows began to melt – and now, as those snows soon take hold, so does yet another full-length. Titled Towards the Nightrealm of Orlok, on LP#6 do the duo of Revenant and Anzillu return to misery and comfort, regressing their black metal further back to somewhere around 1997-1999. Whereas The Absence of Grace moved at a more measured pace and utilized a unique production style – crisp and cutting but somehow brittle, exceptionally ethereal in its effect – Order of Nosferat kick up the pace again, galloping triumphantly into the night in search of prey. The production’s equally brittle, but authentically vintage: the fuzz ‘n’ buzz recalls old French vampires like Blessed in Sin, Winter Funeral, and Osculum Infame, esteemed company and spiritual forebears for this particular (and pure) style of black metal. And while the duo have always had exquisitely moonlit synths, aiding and abetting their melancholia, they truly meld into something majestic here, indeed taking the listener Towards the Nightrealm of Orlok. Christmas day shall hereby be a bloody one, courtesy of Order of Nosferat!

ORDER OF NOSFERAT set release date for new PURITY THROUGH FIRE album, reveal first track

Today, Purity Through Fire announces March 21st as the international release date for Order of Nosferat‘s highly anticipated fifth album, The Absence of Grace, on CD, A5 digipak, vinyl LP, and cassette tape formats.

By now, those well versed in the crimes of Purity Through Fire should be aware of Order of Nosferat. Like (vampiric) clockwork, two more full-lengths followed the next year – Nachtmusik in March and Vampiric Wrath Unleashed – proving that their bloodthirst could not be sated. While 2023 was relatively quiet, Order of Nosferat “only” released a split album with Lunar Spells, showing a more nuanced and atmospheric side to their vampirism.

Now that nuanced / atmospheric shift fully blooms with The Absence of GraceOrder of Nosferat‘s fifth full-length. Utilizing a unique production style – crisp and cutting but somehow brittle, exceptionally ethereal in its effect – the duo here move a more measured pace, patiently doling out their emotive marches with both misery and mania, somehow sounding dead and incensed simultaneously. Whilst moving within the vampiric black metal idiom, it’s an unapologetically sorrowful canvas on which they paint – “bloody tears” staining everything, to invoke Castlevania – poignantly illustrating the titular The Absence of Grace. Order of Nosferat‘s characteristic moonlit synths brilliantly shine here, moving to the fore and melding seamlessly with their cresting & cathartic riffing. All the sadness and nostalgia that the duo have created so prolifically the past four years comes to a climax with The Absence of Grace! Where that cursed coffin ship sails next, only Order of Nosferat know…

ORDER OF NOSFERAT set release date for new PURITY THROUGH FIRE album, reveal first track

Today, Purity Through Fire announces December 21st as the international release date for Order of Nosferat‘s highly anticipated fourth album, Vampiric Wrath Unleashed, on CD, vinyl LP, A5 digipack, and cassette tape formats.

By now, those well versed in the crimes of Purity Through Fire should be aware of Order of Nosferat. Emerging from the shadows in early 2021, the duo of Count Revenant and Anzillu released TWO full-lengths that year: Necuratul and Arrival of the Plague Bearer. And while both underground veterans are no strangers to black metal, the variety they unleashed with Order of Nosferat was most definitely OLD, in every sense of the word. Undead vampiric black metal had truly arisen!

Of course, the duo wasted no time spreading their infection further, as third album Nachtmusik arrived in March 2022 – and yet again do Order of Nosferat deliver another full-length, keeping their feverish activity to two albums a year…for now! Bearing the ever-apt title Vampiric Wrath Unleashed, this is the sound of Order of Nosferat at their most rabid and bloodthirsty, raging forward with a barely contained violence and fully vintage rawness that harkens to such late ’90s French gems as Osculum Infame’s debut album or especially Winter Funeral’s first demo. And yet, while the pace has quickened (just like the heartbeat of a vampire’s next victim), there’s another tasteful dusting of moonlit synths, and the melodicism has shifted from sad to nostalgic. Essentially, it’s more of Order of Nosferat, but proves that their plausibly idiosyncratic version of VAMPIRIC BLACK METAL is seemingly inexhaustible. Inexorable is their march, and it’s more triumphant than ever: this is Vampiric Wrath Unleashed! Begin marching with the brand-new title track “Vampiric Wrath Unleashed” here:

ORDER OF NOSFERAT set release date for new PURITY THROUGH FIRE album, reveal first track

Purity Through Fire is proud to present Order of Nosferat‘s highly anticipated third album, Nachtmusik, on CD, vinyl LP, A5 digipack, and cassette tape formats. The CD and tape versions shall be released on March 21st while the vinyl version will follow later in the year.

Just last year, Order of Nosferat emerged from the shadows with TWO full-lengths, Necuratul and Arrival of the Plague Bearer, both through Purity Through Fire. Although just four months apart, both albums were the work of two prolific underground veterans: Count Revenant on strings, voice, and keys and drummer Anzillu. And while both are no strangers to black metal, the variety they unleashed with Order of Nosferat was most definitely OLD, in every sense of the word. Undead vampiric black metal had truly arisen!

Wasting no time spreading their infection further, Order of Nosferat return with another new album, Nachtmusik. Aptly titled, Nachtmusik is dedicated to lone night-wanderers and those who dwell in sleepless despair. At times more beautifully sad and more rabid than its two not-inconsiderable predecessors, Nachtmusik walks the fine line between fever dream and sublime paralysis; the black metal is filthier and more flaying while the oft-isolated segments of synth and/or piano impart a wounded darkness to the album’s overall aspect. Of course, Order of Nosferat remain ever true to their vampiric vision, and Nachtmusik bears favorable comparison to vampiric pioneers like America’s Black Funeral as well as France’s Vlad Tepes, Mütiilation, Funeral, Blessed in Sin, or any number of bands orbiting the Black Legions or Concilium collectives. But, with the welcome integration of somber interludes and even-defter layering of keys, the duo continue to expand their own, plausibly idiosyncratic version of VAMPIRIC BLACK METAL. And just like those two preceding LPs, Order of Nosferat continue to feel familiar and nostalgic, and indeed is that the point; black metal doesn’t “need” to be anything else but what it already is…or already was, more accurately. And the same can be said for the “vampiric” appellation, before it was ruined by circus clowns and freaks on a leash as the once-glorious ’90s came to a close. Lights out with Nachtmusik!

ORDER OF NOSFERAT set release date for PURITY THROUGH FIRE debut, reveal first track

Today, Purity ThroughFire sets February 28th, 2021 as the international release date for Order of Nosferat‘s striking debut album, Necuratul, on CD, vinyl LP, and limited A5 digipack formats.

Although a brand-new entity by name, the individual behind Order of Nosferat is a well-known German multi-talent, here going by the nom de plume Count Revenant. While he handles strings, voice, and keys, Count Revenant is joined in Order of Nosferat by Anzillu on percussion. And while this name may be brand-new, the sound across their Necuratul debut is most definitely OLD…in every sense of the word.

Recorded during October/November 2020, Order of Nosferat‘s Necuratul harkens back to the mid ’90s and specifically the early days of vampiric black metal. Names invoked include America’s Black Funeral as well as France’s Vlad Tepes, Mütiilation, Funeral, Blessed in Sin, or any number of bands orbiting the Black Legions or Concilium collectives. Which is all to say: fuck-off RAW yet melancholically melodic, harsh and harrowing yet paradoxically aristocratic, feverish and ghoulish in intensity but also frequently exploring dungeon synth textures. Order of Nosferat feels familiar and nostalgic, and indeed is that the point; black metal doesn’t “need” to be anything else but what it already is…or already was, more accurately. And the same can be said for the “vampiric” appellation, before it was ruined by circus clowns and freaks on a leash as the once-glorious ’90s came to a close. Thus, Necuratul is less a subgenre exercise as it is a reinvigoration of too-long-dormant energies.

More to the point, let the words of Count Revenant stir your passions – or keep you at bay, depending: “Hailed be all those who maintain what stands regal in black metal! Those who imbibe the spirit as it should be! Fuck all those who lack the courage in their convictions, thus corrupting a genre built on strength! Infiltrators of a different walk who are destined to be ousted… Smite those not of Vampiric ilk… Tolerate nothing!”
