Canadian Black Metal Chaos machine REVENGE are now streaming their entire re-issued ‘Attack.Blood.Revenge‘ EP here:

‘Attack.Blood.Revenge‘ is an eight song collection of EP‘s and one-off tracks represents the band‘s earliest recordings and displays the focused and hostile, relentless and raw vision that eventually transformed into the twenty years reign of Black Metal Chaos. This edition contains the Attack.Blood.Revenge EP and four additional bonus tracks including the “Superion.Command.Destroy” EP, REVENGE’s track from the split 7” with ARKHON INFAUSTUS, and the band’s cover of VON’s “Lamb” that it recorded for inclusion on the 2009 NWN! Fest compilation.

The EP will be out this Friday, November 20. Pre-orders are still available HERE.

Originally released by Dark Horizon records as a four song EP and then again by Nuclear War Now! Productions with bonus tracks, the band has now partnered with Season of Mist Underground Activists to re-release this long sold out collection. This eight song collection of EP‘s and one-off tracks represents the band‘s earliest recordings and displays the focused and hostile, relentless and raw vision that eventually transformed into the twenty years reign of Black Metal Chaos.  The viciousness of REVENGE’s unparalleled assault on this collection of songs remains after all these years and is easily one the most hostile displays of frenzied Chaotic Black Metal to ever come out of the bowels of the North American Black Metal underground. With the chimes of death ringing in their 20th year in 2020, alongside the prominence that REVENGE has earned releasing multiple albums and EP‘s over the past two decades, it seems fitting to now once again re-issue this debut that declared to the world the band‘s intentions of being a solitary black mist of death that smothers the trends tainting the black metal underground. Revenge stream new song ‘Salvation Smothered (Genocide Of Flock)’

Canadian Chaos Black Metal extremists REVENGE return with ‘Strike.Smother.Dehumanize’, the follow up to their 2015 album ‘Behold.Total.Rejection’. With ‘Behold.Total.Rejection’, the band caused a stir in the underground scene by signing to Season of Mist. In what many saw as an unorthodox move by both band and label, it caused long-time fans and critics alike to speculate on the outcome. Upon the release of ‘Behold.Total.Rejection’, the Canadians proved all who had questioned this unexpected alliance wrong, by releasing one of the most successful and over the top albums in their discography. Being called complete noise by some, and total genius by others, these polarized views continue to be worn by the band as a badge of honor. After the recording and subsequent release of ‘Behold.Total.Rejection’, REVENGE wasted no time systematically destroying the festival atmosphere at metal fests around the world and laying waste to stages in North America and Europe touring with the likes of WATAIN, DESTRÖYER 666, MAYHEM, SHINING and MGLA to name a few. Revenge embark on European tour with Mgła

Chaos Black Metallers REVENGE are kicking off their European tour with Polish metal cult Mgła this Sunday, April 28 in Berlin. The ‘Vision – Discipline – Contempt Conquest’ tour will hit Germany, Switzerland, Austria, the Netherlands, Poland, France and Belgium before the final curtain in Oberhausen (DE) on May 17.

Supporting acts are Deus Mortem (April 28 – May 6) and Doombringer (May 8 – May 17). All tour dates can be found below.

It’s been a few years since REVENGE stormed the black metal scene with latest full length ‘Behold.Total.Rejection’ (2015). Now, the Canadian extreme metallers have returned with two new songs. The upcoming EP ‘Deceiver.Diseased.Miasmic’ represents a new chapter in the band’s nihilistic and hateful mission against the world.
 
REVENGE was founded by vocalist and drummer J. Read continuing in the vein of his previous outfit and war metal instigators CONQUEROR in the year 2000. The Canadians have since delivered some of the most severe and brutal music the metal underground has ever produced. Simply put: they are one of the most extreme bands in existence.
 
With each release, J. Read has pushed the limits further. The two early EPs ‘Attack.Blood.Revenge’ (2001) and ‘Superion.Command.Destroy’ (2002) were followed by first full-length ‘Triumph.Genocide.Antichrist’ (2003). Each release was either greeted by stunned enthusiasm or sheer hatred by critics and fans alike. There was never any room for middle ground with punishing albums such as ‘Victory.Intolerance.Mastery’ (2004), ‘Infiltration.Downfall.Death’ (2008), ‘Scum.Collapse.Eradication’ (2011), and ‘Behold.Total.Rejection’ (2015). 
 
Immersed in a thick layer of sonic muck, the beastly grunts and spiteful screams, the crusty guitar sound and the assaulting drums drown out any pretense of accessibility and affability. ‘Deceiver.Diseased.Miasmic’ emanates a grubby atmosphere, pushing the limits even further than on previous efforts.
 
For those dreading the coming holiday season, REVENGE has made the ultimate soundtrack for the most wonderful time of the year.

DSBM Legends Shining release video teaser for Art House documentary feat. Niklas Kvarforth

SHINING have released a video teaser for an arthouse documentary feat. Niklas Kvarforth, entitled “Cold Void”. The notorious founder of the Swedish black metal act is the focal point of a new movie. The documentary tries to capture a personal portrait of Niklas Kvarforth, who has made headlines that have involved addiction, suicide and self-destruction, bipolar disorder, schizophrenia, passion, and exceptional musicianship. The project was undertaken by arthouse producer Claudio Marino and his film production company Artax Film.

Claudio Marino states that “Cold Void” is a film for anyone interested in life stories, and was not made with the intention of pandering to SHINING’s fans. It is very much a personal journey, bringing a much-needed clarity and lack of sensationalism to the subject of Niklas Kvarforth.

He also comments: “I’ve known about Niklas and his music for a long time. His story interested me and I wanted to know more about him as a person. I did some research and we got in contact. I showed him my documentary trilogy ‘Blood and Spirit’ and he was interested in working with me. We got along from the start and he proved to be very cooperative. He was brutally honest, and never left any of my questions unanswered.”

Claudio Marino is known for his documentary “Blood and Spirit”, a trilogy about three different artists who live for their art, a tattoo artist, an mixed martial arts fighter, and a Satanist, who happened to be Erik Danielsson from WATAIN

SHINING are more than just a band. In fact each release, every concert and interview becomes a bloody battleground, on which Niklas Kvarforth struggles with his inner demons. The frontman and only remaining original member has never been shy to let the world know about his mental afflictions, which seem to complement or even spark his outstanding talent as a composer and musician. His ninth album, ‘IX – Everyone, Everything, Everywhere, Ends’ is another excellent example of Niklas’ genius. Reaching back to their black metal roots, SHINING simultaneously melt eclectic influences from progressive rock, jazz, even pop and more into deeply emotional laments from the dark side of the soul. Niklas’ vocals come in an even greater variety of expressions which few would suspect in a singer coming from the extreme metal scene. Moments of pain and confusion turn into insane outbursts of anger. Despair shifts into melancholy and an eerie sense of timeless beauty permeates all. Lacking any tolerance for false tuning, technical flaws and lack of ambition, Niklas has literally beaten any weakness out of his band, which demonstrates its remarkable prowess far beyond any average on this record. Founded in 1996 by Kvarforth, SHINING self-released ‘Submit to Self-Destruction’ in 1998 and spawned the term “suicidal black metal” with this debut 7″. A couple years after first full-length ‘I – Within Deep Dark Chambers’ (2000) and sophomore album ‘II – Livets Ändhållplats’ (2001) had cut deep marks into the underground scene, Niklas replaced his whole crew and started a continuous cycle of changing his line-up. With MAYHEM drummer Hellhammer on board, ‘III – Angst’ (2003) and ‘IV – The Eerie Cold’ (2005) began to gather major metal press attention. SHINING then focused on bringing their vision and often controversially received live performances to Europe. Yet Kvarforth’s mental health led to cancelled tours, physical and psychological fights within the band, and finally a break-up. Not content to let things rest after the breakdown, the restless singer returned with new members and the massively successful album ‘V – Halmstad’ (2007). SHINING had reached headliner status and toured with big acts such as SATYRICON and MAYHEM. Several line-up changes later, the Swede once again entered studio and recorded two albums in one session. ‘VI – Klagopsalmer’ was released in 2009 and two years later ‘VII – Född Förlorare’ darkened the light of day. The band also received their first gold disc for the single ‘Förtvivlan, Min Arvedel’ in Sweden. After rotating more musicians in and out, SHINING returned with ‘Redefining Darkness’ (2012) and a less aggressive, yet more sinister sound. Before signing to Season of Mist, the band released the project ‘8 ½ – Feberdrömmar I Vaket Tillstånd’, which featured six of Kvarforth’s favourite vocalists. In August 2014, SHINING entered Andy LaRocque’s Sonic Train Studios to record their ninth album. ‘IX – Everyone, Everything, Everywhere, Ends’ is the sum of Niklas Kvarforth’s musical evolution and experience so far. And while nobody expects the Swede to deliver a record to booze and sing along to, the charged word “art” enters the mind unbidden. This masterpiece should interest lovers of music far beyond the narrow confines of extreme metal. Plug your headphones in and find out for yourself!
