Black speed metalpunks Bonehunter premiere new track

Today, black speed metalpunks Bonehunter premiere the new track “Sex Messiah Android”. The track hails from the band’s highly anticipated third album, Children of the Atom, set for international release on September 28th via Hells Headbangers.

Hear Bonehunter’s “Sex Messiah Android” in its entirety exclusively HERE.

If Bonehunter’s debut album, Evil Triumphs Again, became the first and last word on how to do Bathory worship – and becoming something of a mini-classic in the process, especially after their much-talked-about performance at Hells Headbangers’ Hells Headbash 2 in 2015 – and last year’s Sexual Panic Human Machine became the shocking sound of the band asserting their own identity with equally compelling results, then Children of the Atom is Bonehunter hitting a fucking fever pitch. It would not be untruthful to say that Children of the Atom is the perfect synthesis of Bonehunter’s first two albums: the dungeon-bred grit of the debut meeting the streamlined cruise of LP#2, without the faintest hint of self-consciousness nor repetitiousness. But – and this is absolutely crucial – the devilish charisma and unfuckwithable confidence with which the band roll out each anthem after another here bespeaks something else together. Simply, Children of the Atom is the new (and very now) sound of Bonehunter breaking into the bigtime.

After the stage-setting “Initiate the Sequence” intro, Children of the Atom literally EXPLODES from the speakers. Charging hard like the veritable post-apocalyptic Road Warriors that they are, Bonehunter truly make their self-proclaimed “Devil Metal Punk” a subgenre unto itself here. It’s one of those sounds that’s immediately familiar – again, earliest Bathory will always loom large – but with a wealth of era- and globe-spanning influences all freely fed into their engine, from ’80s Japanese metalpunk to the deepest South American blackthrash, what emerges on Children of the Atom is indeed a mutation like no other. And it’s absolutely ADDICTING: hooks upon hooks are doled out effortlessly, inciting possessed headbanging and air-guitaring, and all with a breathless abandon that’s a wild wonder to behold. Additionally, Bonehunter’s rhythmic arsenal has kicked it up a notch or five, as well, hitting speeds previously unapproachable for the band but here delivered with authority and elan. Not to mention that the production’s been roughened up again, bloody raw but belying a clarity of intent.

Featuring unforgettable cover art courtesy of the master Joe Petagno, Children of the Atom is the ultimate nuclear assault from Bonehunter! A statement from the band reads: “We envisioned an album that sounded like songs written by the synthetically-revived cadavers of Chris Witchhunter, HIDE, and Petrus Steele after blasting Sacrilege, Atomkraft, and Immortal in a military bunker through the heart of a nuclear winter. Läjä Äijälä, frontman of the infamous hardcore act Terveet Kädet, gave birth to the intro track ‘Initiate the Sequence.’ The only man who could be trusted to handle the album cover for Children of the Atom was the legendary artist behind Motörhead’s Snaggletooth, Joe Petagno. Hails to Hells Headbangers for helping to spread our noise, filth, and fury and to Läjä and Joe for their contributions! This is the ultimate Bonehunter album – turn up the evil!”

Continue turning up the evil with the new track “Sex Messiah Android” exclusively HERE, courtesy of Revolver, North America’s premier rock & metal authority. Begin turning up the evil with the previously revealed “The Reek of Reaper’s Scythe” HERE at Hells Headbangers’ Bandcamp, where the album can also be preordered. Additionally, Bonehunter will be joining labelmates Midnight on a North American tour later this year, in support of Children of the Atom; dates will be revealed in due time.

ROTTING CHRIST have reached another peak in their long career that now spans over more than three decades. The Greeks have literally stood the test of time. With a steady core line-up and their well-honed live delivery, ROTTING CHRIST are filling concert halls and reap enthusiastic crowd reactions wherever they go. This demonstration of love from their followers is not just driven by nostalgia as the band has managed to evolve and grow, while staying relevant beyond the classics with their highly acclaimed latest albums such as ‘Aealo’ (2010), ‘Κατά τον δαίμονα εαυτού’ (2013), and ‘Rituals’ (2016).

With more than 30 years, 12 studio albums, a dozen EPs, singles and split releases, as well as more than 1.250 shows under their belt, it is about high time to take a retrospective look at this band’s fascinating musical development by picking a select choice of key tracks covering the many facets of ROTTING CHRIST that have sparkled over the years. With such a massive catalogue such an undertaking will always lead to controversy about certain additions as well as omissions from the final list, but the involvement of frontman Sakis Tolis in this extremely difficult task ensures that the result is at least relevant.

ROTTING CHRIST were founded by Sakis Tolis and his brother Themis in the year 1987. Starting out on a basis of death and grind, the Greeks had already embarked on a darker musical journey by the time their debut full-length ‘Thy Mighty Contract’ (1993) was revealed. On the following seven albums covering a ten-year period from ‘Non Serviam’ (1994) to ‘Sanctus Diavolos’ (2004), ROTTING CHRIST steadily defined their own distinct style by experimenting with elements from death, heavy, and gothic metal without betraying their black roots. At the same time, the band went from underground heroes to headliner status. With the highly acclaimed ninth album, ‘Theogonia’ (2007), the Greek stalwarts added an unmistakable native element to their sound, which has remained with them as a signature trademark ever since. Exploring the mythical legacy of cultures around the globe let to ROTTING CHRIST’s massively successful latest release, ‘Rituals’. With ‘Their Greatest Spells’, the Greek metal icons musically revisit their exciting legacy and even contribute a brand new track entitled “I Will Not Serve” to connect their past with the present.

ABYSSOUS set release date for new IRON BONEHEAD mini-album, reveal first track – to play Never Surrender fest in November

Today, Iron Bonehead Productions sets November 1st as the international release date for Abyssous’ long-awaited new recording, Mesa, on CD and 12″ vinyl formats. This new mini-album shall be released on November 1st, in conjunction with the Iron Bonehead / Nuclear War Now!-curated Never Surrender Festival set to take place in Berlin on November 1-3. Abyssous will be giving an exclusive performance at this fest.

It’s been six long years since the original release of Abyssous’ debut recording, …Smouldering. What was first a demo soon became something of a debut album, aided by two newly recorded tracks and a cavernously 3D mastering job by P. Engel at Temple of Disharmony: Iron Bonehead was so impressed by this fresh take on a rotten sound that it released …Smouldering on vinyl LP in 2013. Anchored in the ancient ways of the Metal of Death yet exuding a bold, flowing flair for songcraft, here Abyssous compositionally ran the gamut from teeth-gnashing, tempting-the-corners-of-chaos violence to slowly simmering, doomed-out dementia, taking the listener on a journey to eldritch depths…and beyond, and back. Not for nothing was it titled …Smouldering.

Then came silence, but during that interim, Abyssous have been patiently perfecting their craft. It finds full bloom on the aptly titled Mesa, which presents ten tracks across a surprisingly expansive 35 minutes. With such a setup, one would think a record of quick-hitting constructions; instead, Mesa is more like five proper songs buttressed by just as many no-less-crucial interludes. As such, Abyssous weave a more mind-melting tapestry than before, painting a fever dream in more gangrenous hues of ancient death metal and dizzying tension. It all very much sounds like the band who left us …Smouldering, but whipped into a delirium of fractured angularity and even-more-fractured sanity. Mesa is no less rotten, but paradoxically more regal. Even the language the power-trio is using here – “Fissurge,” “Aerosoils,” “Perlurkural,” “Vesspense,” and especially the climactic “Congealed Lores” among them – suggest that they’re indeed operating on a mesa all their own.

Or, one could simply gaze deeply into the cover art of Mesa and see where Abyssous are going now, and where they’re arriving. Will you step beyond The Beyond? Dare to find out with the new track “Ocaeon” HERE

Cover and tracklisting are as follows:

4. Impelled
5. Fissurge

TROLLHEIMS GROTT set release date for long-awaited new W.T.C. album, reveal teaser video

Today, W.T.C. Productions sets October 31st as the international release date for Trollheims Grott’s long-awaited third album, Aligned with the True Death.

Hailing from Finland and forming in 1997, Trollheims Grott are unsung pioneers of industrial black metal. The band’s first two albums, 2001’s Bizarre Troll Technology and 2003’s Bloodsoaked and Ill-Fated, served as benchmarks for the idiom, pushing forth a sleek and psychotic sound executed with the utmost cruelty.

Now, some 15 years later, the time has arrived for Trollheims Grott to unleash their carefully prepared third bloodthirsty beast from their Syndicate Laboratory. Tellingly titled Aligned with the True Death, the album shall lay terror around the world with unforeseen force.

In these times of unskilled copycat newcomers staggering around the scene babbling about their “primitive” approach, it’s about fucking time to put true talent and vision back into black metal again. Aligned with the True Death is true black metal executed with the exceptionally deadly skill and precision for which Trollheims Grott became renown in the underground, and further fueled by these true Luciferian visionaries’ fiery prophecies and perception of this decaying world.

Losing not one step since their early 2000s heyday, Trollheims Grott unload a furious whirlwind of shock-force drums and razor-caked riffs, with mechanized industrial elements providing no-less-devastating support fire, all conveying the sensation of war-machines of the Apocalypse razing the last remnants of this doomed millennium. Gloomy corpse-stenched commandments and divinations drive the mind of the listener to the place where Earth faces its last stand and all things living will be aligned with the true Death.

Truly, Trollheims Grott are more deadly than before. No time has been lost; if anything, it has been erased. Here, stand Aligned with the True Death or prepare for utter annihilation.

Begin preparing with the new track “Holy Black Sun,” of which a teaser video can be seen & heard HERE

Cover and tracklisting are as follows:

Tracklisting for Trollheims Grott’s Aligned with the True Death
1. Aligned With The True Death
2. Deathless Form
3. Omega Angel
4. Holy Black Sun
5. Twilight
6. LXFR
7. Earth’s Last Stand

In anticipation of the imminent release of Aligned with the True Death, Trollheims Grott will be playing two special shows with esteemed comrades …And Oceans and Thyrane. To prepare the crowds for the returning onslaught, Thyrane rose early in 2015 to pump their blend of satanic symphonic black metal origins thickened with industrial veins back into the black metal scene. As the cogs in the industrial black metal core of Finland began to turn once again, the final band to play each evening was not content to lay idle. For the first time in over a decade …And Oceans will reassemble onstage to lay waste to any unworthy survivors. Dates, venues, and event information are as follows:

Milwaukee Black Metallers PREZIR Release Lyric Video for “As Rats Devour Lions”

Milwaukee black metal group PREZIR have released a lyric video for the title track from forthcoming album As Rats Devour Lions. Check it out at:

PREZIR will release As Rats Devour Lions on September 17 through Godz ov War Productions. Pre-orders are available now at this location.

The follow up to 2017 debut EP Contempt, As Rats Devour Lions delivers a scornful blow to the wasteland of safe metal modernity. A contemptuous rebuke of all extremist ideologies, both present and historical, PREZIR epitomizes black metal ferocity (DESTROYER 666, DAWN, EMPEROR) laden with thrash (MEGADETH, SLAYER) and death metal (MORBID ANGEL, IMMOLATION, DEICIDE) influences. This record is a faster, more melodic, and heavier auditory assault than their previous effort.

Both the title track and second single “Hamatsa Death Ritual” can be streamed at:
prezir.bandcamp.com/album/as-rats-devour-lions

A black metal cyclone, PREZIR features guitarists Rory Heikkila (SHROUD OF DESPONDENCY) and Tyler Okrzesik (SHROUD OF DESPONDENCY), vocalist and lyricist Luka Djordjevic (KHAZADDUM), drummer Brian Serzynski (PIGS BLOOD), and bassist Jerry Hauppa (ARA/NORTHLESS)

As Rats Devour Lions was skillfully recorded and mixed by Shane Hochstetler at Howl Street Recordings. Bass recorded by J.Hauppa; artwork and layout by L.Djordjevic; and photography by David Warner.

Track List
1. As Rats Devour Lions
2. Ideologue Alchemy
3. Janičari
4. Dar al-Harb
5. Serpents in the House of Ra
6. Hamatsa Death Ritual
7. Plagiarized Infamy
8. Oedipus Context

“Another great sounding recording from Prezir. If you are a fan of fast and melodic black metal with elements of death and thrash metal, you should check out this album.”

Crippled Black Phoenix launch music video for new track “Great Escape (pt I)”

CRIPPLED BLACK PHOENIX are now premiering the third track of their forthcoming new album ‘Great Escape’, which is slated for release on September 14th, 2018. The song, titled “Great Escape (Pt I)” has been released in the form of an artistic music video and can be viewed below.

On the album, Justin Greaves comments: “Sometimes we want to escape from the dark and make a positive change in our life… and yet…Sometimes we simply want to escape this world. Because we’re tired and we’ve had enough… This is what ‘Great Escape’ is. Some parts it’s pure escapism from real life, longing to just shoot straight up and off this planet…. Other parts are born out of frustration at the unjust world we live in. It is.. Escaping from your own broken mind, or from society, or animals escaping from abuse. It’s the escape from the mainstream thought patterns and engrained social conditioning that perpetuates mans destruction of nature. We can be our own ‘Great Escape’ if we want, and it can be however you want to it to be. If you’re not happy then you don’t have to conform, you don’t have to carry on ‘playing the game’.”

CRIPPLED BLACK PHOENIX have previously revealed the artwork for ‘Great Escape’, which can be viewed together with the album details below.

Track-list ‘Great Escape’
1. You Brought It Upon Yourselves (3:43)
2. To You I Give (9:22)
3. Uncivil War (pt I) (2:50)
4. Madman (4:51)
5. Times, They Are A’Raging (11:58)
6. Rain Black, Reign Heavy (5:58)
7. Slow Motion Breakdown (4:34)
8. Nebulas (5:35)
9. Las Diabolicas (3:49)
10. Great Escape (pt I) (7:36)
11. Great Escape (pt II) (13:03)

‘Great Escape’, this beautiful touch of darkness comes hardly as a surprise, when taking into account that CRIPPLED BLACK PHOENIX mastermind Justin Greaves has previously gone public about his personal fight against severe depression. Similar dark themes and traits have already been a hallmark of the UK rockers’ latest full-length, ‘Bronze’ (2016).

CRIPPLED BLACK PHOENIX have always confounded critics trying to pin their style down ever since founder Justin Greaves recorded his first ideas in 2004 – which earned them tagging attempts ranging from “stoner prog” through “freak folk” to “psychedelic doom”. Despite the wide range of musical leanings within their albums, there are a unifying dark streak and somber melancholy running through the songs. Greaves had already made himself a name as drummer for IRON MONKEY and ELECTRIC WIZARD among others. When the multi-instrumentalist finally decided to stand on his own musical feet, CRIPPLED BLACK PHOENIX was born. This involves a changing cast of musicians and live set-ups which mirrored the ever-ongoing evolution of the band, and the fact that the songs were mostly not composed with a live performance on mind.

Between 2007 and 2014, CRIPPLED BLACK PHOENIX released a string of five critically highly acclaimed studio albums – namely ‘A Love of Shared Disasters’ (2007), ‘The Resurrectionists’ (2009), ‘Night Raider’ (2009), ‘(Mankind) The Crafty Ape’ (2012), and ‘White Light Generator’ (2014). This was complemented by EPs ‘I, Vigilante’ (2010), ‘No Sadness or Farewell’ (2012), and ‘Oh’ Ech-oes’ (2015), the live recording ‘Live Poznan’ (2013), and the ‘200 Tons of Bad Luck’ compilation (2009). Their ‘New Dark Age Tour EP 2015 A.D.’ was the band’s first release on Season of Mist and came with an extensive homage to PINK FLOYD. The strong influence of the UK rock giants could also be felt on ‘Bronze’ (2016), yet while CRIPPLED BLACK PHOENIX never denied their roots, this outstanding act has long created their own sonic cosmos.

With last year’s ‘Horrific Honorifics’ offering, the band elegantly payed tribute to great artists and classic songs while making those tracks their own in sound and spirit without compromising the integrity of the original masterpieces.

Now with ‘Great Escape’, CRIPPLED BLACK PHOENIX take you on their new adventure and let you explore their sonic cosmos even further, and where all its emotions are reflected on to this earth. From the angry “Rain Black”, to the unnerving “Madman” and forgiving “Nebulas”, CRIPPLED BLACK PHOENIX arise once more.

PULVERIZED: Chilean Death Metallers Streaming The Track “Devoción”

Chilean death metal horde Pulverized is coming up with their debut full length via Krucyator Productions in both digital and jewel-case CD editions. The album, aptly titled as “Monuments of Misanthropy”, is slated for worldwide release on October 13, 2018.

“Devoción”, the opening track of the album is currently streaming here

Cover Illustration by Adi Dechristianize of Dechristianize Art

Chilean cadavers PULVERIZED awoke in the city of Santiago in 2006. They perform death metal with a strong American influence from the early ’90s, without leaving aside the essences of the glorious South American extreme metal scene. Their lyrical themes touch the thoughts about life, death, Christianity and its moral decadence in Western Society. Having two demo releases in their discography, they have already illustrated the sign of miasmic assault, that is uncontrollably fierce and absolutely petrifying.

“Monuments of Misanthropy”, the impending debut album, will lay the cornerstone of a new epoch in the band’s history. Featuring lyrics in both Spanish and English, PULVERIZED deploy unholy feelings in veins throughout the six abominably composed furious songs. In terms of sonic landscape, this album stands in a supreme point where viciousness, profanity and primitiveness are in poise.

This striking debut album will see the worldwide release on October 13, 2018 via KRUCYATOR PRODUCTIONS on Jewel Case CD and digitally. The album was recorded, mixed and mastered at DM6 Studio by Pablo Clares. Santiago, Chile.

WITCHES HAMMER (pre-BLASPHEMY) stream full Nuclear War Now album

While toiling in the relative obscurity of an underground scene in British Colombia as its first extreme metal band, Witches Hammer self-produced two demos of evil speed metal in the mid-1980s. Following the second demo, a local label by the name of Subversive Productions offered to release a Witches Hammer 7” EP. The band suggested that a 12” EP would be a better format for both improved audio and visual impact, and the label agreed to the request. In 1987 (that same year), Subversive released the record, packaged in a plain white jacket with the photocopied layout glued to front and back, featuring the artwork of Dax Howell.

Unlike the previous demos, which had been recorded with sole guitarist Marco Banco, the band had recruited a second guitarist in Mike E. Death for the 12” EP. This addition allowed for a more complete sound since it more readily facilitated both rhythm and lead guitar tracks, the combination of which was not present on the demos. Estimates of the number of copies pressed range from 1500 to 5000, but a house fire in the 1990s destroyed the remaining 500 unsold copies. Following this record’s release, the band continued to play local live shows mostly in support of touring acts, in addition to a brief tour across western Canada. During this time, Witches Hammer gained some exposure and was noticed by, among others, Black Winds from the notorious Blasphemy cult, who later cited the band as a primary inspiration.

In 1988, Witches Hammer returned to the studio to record what it had planned to be its debut full-length album. A total of 12 tracks were recorded, including nine tracks that had been previously recorded for prior releases and three brand-new songs – “Inner Sanctum,” Stretching into Infinity,” and “Captain Breakdown” – which collectively were indicative of the band’s continued progression. As with the preceding 12” EP, the band once again summoned Dax Howell to provide the cover art, which was also used for a t-shirt design. As fate would have it, however, the album was never released as originally intended, and these would prove to be the last songs recorded before the band members went their separate ways over the next couple of years.

Fortunately, Nuclear War Now! unearthed the tracks from the unreleased album and released them along with those from the 12” EP in a collection entitled Stretching into Infinity in 2005. Thirteen years later, NWN! is proud to offer a repress of this compilation, once again on 12” vinyl format.

Whereas the earlier demos collected on Canadian Speed Metal offer a glimpse into the early days of a band once described by Pushead as a “speeded-up Venom,” these subsequent recordings showcase a fully-matured Witches Hammer that harnessed the evil of proto-black metal bands like Sodom and infused it with a heavy dose of unhinged aggression, similar to that of the local hardcore bands it regularly gigged with in the area. In 2018, this sound is as potent as ever and quite worthy of the recognition it never fully received outside of the Vancouver area in the band’s heyday.

ARES KINGDOM working on new NUCLEAR WAR NOW! album, reveal tracklist

Kansas City death metal veterans Ares Kingdom have returned to their own Very Metal Sound studio to record their fourth full-length album, By the Light of Their Destruction, for the esteemed Nuclear War Now! Productions – the band’s label home since 2004.

Following up the acclaimed First World War-themed album The Unburiable Dead of 2015 – an album recognized by the National World War I Museum in the USA – By the Light of Their Destruction brings a new focus for Ares Kingdom’s sound on an altogether darker, heavier, and more obscure trajectory.

What was the inspiration behind the pivot to darkness? Guitarist and songwriter Chuck Keller explains: “I was a bit worried about a direction for Ares Kingdom after finishing writing the The Unburiable Dead, but one day during the summer of 2015, I was going through my Vulpecula archive and found a few forgotten and unused ideas I had been outlining before we ended the band in 1999. They reawakened the old Vulpecula fire in me, and I knew it was time to go back to darkness and obscurity.”

“Fourth albums are often more technical and noodling than an ordinary band’s older records, and so are notoriously lacking original fire and fury. Rarely does a band in our position purposely make their approach more primitive, but for us, it was the obvious thing to do,” said bassist/vocalist Alex Blume.

Drummer Mike Miller echoed, “While the new songs and our production style still sound like Ares Kingdom, our focus during rehearsals was on the primal power of the songs. It’s easily the heaviest material we’ve ever come up with.”

By the Light of Their Destruction is slated for release in spring 2019 on LP, CD, picture disc, cassette tape, and digital formats, all courtesy of Nuclear War Now! Productions.

Current tracklisting is as follows:

The Hydra Void
Burn, Antares (Scorpius Diadem)
Dark Waters Eridanus
Radiant and Storm
Eighteen Degrees Beneath
Allegory
The Bones of All Men
Iconologia
A Reward for Sin
