CONJURETH premiere new track – features members of ENCOFFINATION, VOIDCEREMONY, GHOULGOTHA+++

Today, ancient death metal upholders Conjureth premiere the new track “Cremated Dominion”. The track is the second to be revealed from the band’s highly anticipated second album, The Parasitic Chambers, set for international release on January 23rd, 2023 via Memento Mori. Hear Conjureth‘s “Cremated Dominion” in its entirety here:

Although they formed in 2018, Conjureth went on a tear starting in 2020, unleashing two demos, Foul Formations and The Levitation Manifest, which all culminated in their debut album for Memento Mori. Ominously titled Majestic Dissolve, Conjureth‘s first full-length achieved its goal – continuing the traditions forged by the originators of death metal – and then some. That they achieved that goal so swiftly and effortlessly was perhaps unsurprising – after all, this lineup of Conjureth do have or have done time in such bands as Encoffination, VoidCeremony and Ghoulgotha, among many others – but the power-trio slayed their way through late ’80s-inspired filth like a well-oiled/slimed machine.

Now, Conjureth return with an album that arguably eclipses that all-too-considerable predecessor: The Parasitic Chambers. Keenly understanding that death metal DOESN’T need to change – or rather, the wheel doesn’t need reinvention – Conjureth turn that wheel with even more power and poise than before whilst keeping their core sound intact. Like that predecessor, The Parasitic Chambers locates that all-too-short time when death metal wasn’t primarily full of blastbeats, caveman riffs, ultra-low-tuned guitars, and super-guttural vocals, slotting into that bygone age of 1986-to-1989-style death metal with a heaping portion of thrash metal riffing and a dash of the technical side of things that would be unearthed a few years later. If anything, Conjureth make their deathrashing musings even more manic and muscular here: while more ripping than ever, the riffing takes tons of wild & weird detours, often literally blowing the mind, as the rhythms take the “by the books” approach and bend the cover backwards; meanwhile, the trio’s multi-tentacled attack retains a full-bodied sense of heft that’s sharpened to an enviable degree by the clear-yet-crushing production. Or, simply imagine late ’80s Tampa receiving strange & unsettling transmissions from a Finland a few years ahead. If Majestic Dissolve celebrated the past giving birth to the future, then The Parasitic Chambers is the sound of that future beginning to beautifully rot.

Graced with yet another mesmerizing cover courtesy of Erskine Designs, The Parasitic Chambers continues Conjureth‘s ascent as one of the most time-WARPING bands around!

Begin time-warping with the previously revelaed “Smothering Psalms” HERE at Memento Mori‘s official YouTube channel. Aforementioned cover art and tracklisting are as follows:

PESTIFER ink deal with DMP

Haunting the Death Metal scene with devastating music and crushing live shows since 2004, PESTIFER have already unleashed three highly acclaimed albums. On most recent opus “Expanding Oblivion” (2020), the group successfully paired an elaborate science-fiction concept with sonic aggression, ethereal melodies, intricate riffing and a special emphasis on song-structure. PESTIFER soar through the sublimity of the night sky into the cold and annihilating darkness of outer space!

Proudly, we announce that PESTIFER has joined Debemur Morti Productions to unleash further sinister and sophisticated obliterations. Vocalist Jérôme Bernard narrates about PESTIFER‘s Art:

We are glad to be part of the Debemur Morti Productions family! I think the spectrum of darkness we evoke in our music is very wide and that is clearly something we naturally tend to. At least, I could say there is nothing positive emerging from the sound we create: our music is a mix of dreadful and dissonant chords, enigmatic melodies, threatening riffs or insane atmospheres but it varies a lot. Layers are often quite numerous without any ounce of happiness. We also focus on structures, probably without choosing the easiest path, but we believe that it makes the songs of PESTIFER as unique as possible. Lyrics follow that rule too. They mainly tell stories about the darkness of existence itself with a science-fiction aspect. Nevertheless, is there anything darker than outer space?

First collaborative emanation, the new EP “Defeat Of The Nemesis“, will see the light of day in 2023. Jérôme allows a glimpse into what’s to come:

The core of PESTIFER remains the same but I could say we explored more horizons than in our previous releases. There are certainly more bold attempts with moods we never even approached before. But there are other aspects that can remind people of our first release as well: some reborn aggression, more anger. That’s also the reason why we wanted the production to be very powerful. “Defeat Of The Nemesis” is a concept EP with a main lyrical theme about cosmos colonization by the human race. Every song represents a new civilization which is influenced by a specific mental pathology. Anyway, you can expect adventurous bass lines, serpentine guitar riffs, furious vocals, and tireless drums.

Furthermore, as it was recently announced, the band will also perform on the 2023 edition of Hellfest Open Air Festival in France.

PESTIFER are:

Philippe Gustin – drums
Jérôme Bernard – vocals
Valéry Bottin – guitars
Adrien Gustin – bass

Follow the band on Facebook and Instagram and listen to their latest album, “Expanding Oblivion“, via Bandcamp

PESTIFER is a metal band that has been haunting Belgium since 2004. Composed of four humanoids, the group plays an original music mixing aggressivity, melodies and personality with emphasis on the songs’ structure, elaborate riffing and the general atmosphere.

The project was fantasized by young hairy twins, fanatics of the 90’s Death Metal scene. With a first EP in 2006, PESTIFER aligns concerts on a local scale. In 2010, the band takes a new dimension releasing its first album, “Age Of Disgrace“. Two European tours in support of KATAKLYSM and KRISIUN follow and they sign with Ultimhate Records.

After a new 13-date European tour with NILE, PESTIFER release a new album on Greatdane Records in 2014. “Reaching The Void” confirms the band’s musical direction and brings a new trend with more “sci-fi” themes.

The following years, the band undergoes some line-up changes with the arrival of a new guitar player. In mid-2019, the band records a concept album, marking a new milestone for PESTIFER. The album, the result of several years of writing, is released in March 2020 on Xenokorp Records, a few days before the worldwide lockdown. During that period, PESTIFER sign a publishing contract with Les Editions Hurlantes (GOJIRA, IMMORTAL, MARDUK…).

In 2021, the band releases a video documentary. The film is directed by Giov‘ and focuses on the band’s life during covid. 2022 sees PESTIFER sign a contract with Debemur Morti Productions.

ABYSMAL LORD stream new HELLS HEADBANGERS album

Today, New Orleans barbarians Abysmal Lord stream the entirety of their highly anticipated third album, Bestiary of Immortal Hunger. Set for international release on December 30th via Hells Headbangers on CD and cassette tape formats – the vinyl version will follow next year – hear Abysmal Lord‘s Bestiary of Immortal Hunger in its entirety here:

Since their grand emergence in 2014 with the Storms of Unholy Black Mass debut EP, New Orleans’ Abysmal Lord have vaulted to the forefront of the modern bestial metal scene. Red-eyed and rabid, their primeval surge swallows listeners whole with preternatural ease – or simply (black)grinds them down to dust. Under the auspices of Hells Headbangers, the band has gone from strength to strength with each new recording, each one a swift ‘n’ tactical strike on all that is holy and pure. Both 2015’s Disciples of the Inferno and 2019’s Exaltation of the Infernal Cabal have established Abysmal Lord as a none-more-formidable name in the metal underground, with their shock ‘n’ awe live prowess proving that such sonic bestiality is best witnessed in the flesh.

Since the release of 2020’s Cathedral EP, much has transpired in Abysmal Lord camp. A tumultuous period, drummer Barbaric Slayer exited the band to further pursue a spiritual journey deeper inward. Meanwhile, vocalist/guitarist Nocturnal Damnation and bassist/guitarist Guillotine committed themselves to continuing the path of no return. With no reasonable alternative, Abysmal Lord decided that, for their next full-length, Nocturnal Damnation will handle drumming duties (as was done on the aforementioned Storms of Unholy Black Mass). Maximum effort was expended to ensure that the brutality and chaos of Barbaric Slayer’s tradition was honored and continued.

And indeed it has, and then some, with the arrival of Bestiary of Immortal Hunger. On first glance, Abysmal Lord‘s third album retains all the red-eyed and rabid elements of yore – OTT explosion and forward propulsion in the grand tradition of Blasphemy, Black Witchery, and Proclamation and then malforming it into morbid, miasmic shapes – but peer deeper into this gurgling pit of despair & darkness and one will find surprising twists to their core sound. Foremost, perhaps, is the unhinged drumming of Nocturnal Damnation; foregoing sustained blasting, instead he draws influence from the fucked-up ‘n’ feral drumming of DD Crazy (during his early Sarcofago days as well as Sextrash) and Hadez’ Tonyn Destructor, especially on that band’s Guerroros de la Muerte demo. Unorthodox but undeniably effective, these more angular and askew rhythms form a (feral/fucked-up) foundation for Abysmal Lord‘s most CRAZED and chaotic songwriting to date.

As such, while retaining their foundational elements, Abysmal Lord’s newest offering bears semblance to South America’s most infernal names: the aforementioned early days of Hadez, Sarcofago, and especially Sextrash but also Holocausto, Parabellum, and Reencarnacion. With an even more unsettling style of evil and total darkness, not to mention a plethora of mind-melted solos, Bestiary of Immortal Hunger also slots itself well alongside Mystifier’s pivotal first couple albums and early Beherit. Naturally, naysayers will still contend that this unholy racket is still “just” bestial metal or war metal or whatever – and for Abysmal Lord, that’s fine, as hailing and giving honor to a certain tradition in metal is part of the essence of this wider subculture. Those who know, know, and they will understand deeper, darker truths with this Bestiary of Immortal Hunger.

NOCTURNAL DEPARTURE stream new HELLS HEADBANGERS album

Today, Canadian black metallers Nocturnal Departure stream the entirety of their highly anticipated third album, Clandestine Theurgy. Set for international release on December 30th via Hells Headbangers on CD and cassette tape formats – the vinyl version will follow next year – hear Nocturnal Departure‘s Clandestine Theurgy in its entirety here:

Canada’s Nocturnal Departure were birthed from yellow moonlit darkness between Beltane and Lughnasadh of 2017 into a campaign of rejection and disgust for Christendom and the hypocritical norms of society. Nocturnal Departure redirect the psychomachia of the human condition through ritual and occultism, focusing it outwards as the moon gathers and reflects light from the sun, with raw and illuminating indifference. After releasing their debut album, Cathartic Black Rituals, and follow-up Worm Moon Sessions on cult underground imprints Death Kvlt Productions and Les Fleurs du Mal, founding members Funeror (guitar/vocals), Kryptys (drums), and Illartha (bass) are joined by new guitarist Necrogeist in grim occlusion with Hells Headbangers. The band’s first crime for the label (and third) overall, Clandestine Theurgy, features this bolstered lineup and brings forth the band’s most focused statement to date.

Almost literally a band out of time, Nocturnal Departure harken to the grim days of the ’90s black metal underground, particularly its most devout sectors just south of the border in the United States. While once the object of mockery from the ignorant despite featuring some of the most original and unorthodox outliers, it’s USBM that has the last laugh, as the idiom has developed over the decades and still rings true in the darkest of hearts. Although calling Canadian soil home, Nocturnal Departure encapsulate this mood and era in its most perfect, poignant form on Clandestine Theurgy. Featuring gloriously macabre cover art created by Abomination Hammer, indeed, its title is something of a rallying cry for such hearts – “those who know, know,” as the adage goes – and its raw, desperate violence evinces elements of Judas Iscariot, Masochist, Black Funeral, Summon, and Blood Storm but undeniably with a personality all its own. TRADITIONAL black metal, then, no more but definitely no less: Clandestine Theurgy is a throwback masterclass.

Aforementioned cover art and tracklisting are as follows:

Tracklisting for Nocturnal Departure’s Clandestine Theurgy
1. Ceremonial Storm
2. Dark Spells of the Infernal Spirit
3. Clandestine Theurgy
4. Unhallowed Exhumation

ACT OF IMPALEMENT set release date for new CALIGARI album, reveal first track

Today, Caligari Records announces February 2nd, 2023 as the international release date for Act of Impalement‘s highly anticipated second album, Infernal Ordinance, on CD and cassette tape formats.

Formed in 2012, Nashville’s Act of Impalement steadily sharpened their sound over a handful of demos and EPs, culminating in the 2018 debut album, Perdition Cult. Always a power-trio, Act of Impalement‘s sound has never been easy to categorize; galloping, oft-doomy death metal and blackened crust are always at the fore, but Perdition Cult showed ever more sides to the band, including moshable thrash and blown-out sludge. This relative variety should’ve proved a boon, but Act of Impalement went on a recording hiatus thereafter.

Work began on Act of Impalement‘s second album in February 2020, when all instruments were recorded; vocals were then done in March 2021, with everything recorded & mixed by Yautja’s Shibby Poole. The wait was definitely worth it, for Infernal Ordinance is a monstrous work, with Act of Impalement at their gutsfucking and most focused best. Eschewing some of the variety of its full-length predecessor, Act of Impalement‘s second album surges forward with more songwriting finesse; every riff is given maximal room to inflict damage, every segment carried forward to its conclusion, and every transition seamless. That the power-trio can still show traces of Cianide, Bolt Thrower, Prophecy of Doom, and even Archgoat – often, all in the same song – and make it meld together consistently and compellingly is no small feat. Add to that their characteristically GUTTED guitar & bass tone and Infernal Ordinance verily becomes its namesake. Perhaps best yet, the album doesn’t overstay its welcome: Act of Impalement get in and slaughter in a mere 29 minutes.

With world-eating mastering courtesy of Will Killingsworth at Dead Air Studios and stark cover artwork by Diablo Macabre, Act of Impalement have undeniably delivered their best record yet in Infernal Ordnance.

Hear for yourself with the brand-new track “Summoning the Final Conflagration” here:

Aforementioned cover artwork and tracklisting are as follows:

Portugal’s IRAE stream special SIGNAL REX anniversary album

Today, Portuguese black metal legends Irae stream the entirety of their special anniversary recording, Assim na Terra como no Inferno. Set for international release today via Signal Rex, hear Irae‘s Assim na Terra como no Inferno in its entirety here:

By now, Irae should require little introduction. Since the dawn of this cursed millennium, mainman Vulturius has prolifically pursued a singular vision of RAW BLACK METAL that includes five full-lengths and countless split releases with likeminded comrades. As such, Irae have almost singlehandedly invigorated Portugal’s black metal scene, particularly the rawer iteration of it. And since the band’s blood pact with Signal Rex deepened in 2020 with the release of the landmark Lurking in the Depths LP last summer and followed the next year with the EPs Korona Winter Rehearsal of Darkness & Evil and Dangerovs Magick Zpells from the Mesziah of Death and a split LP with comrades Ordem Satânica and Wømb most recently, there’s no sign of Irae‘s black flame being extinguished anytime soon.

Of course, the black flame has been burning brightly since the very beginning, and 20 years after the cult’s formation, Irae present a special anniversary album titled Assim na Terra como no Inferno. Featuring seven exclusive songs across 40 minutes, Assim na Terra como no Inferno is both new and old: the ancient spirit revitalized in the putrid present, archaic energies reignited with a passion that simply refuses to relent – and, amazingly, only gets better with time. Truly, it is some strange magick that Irae manages to sound more vital than ever, both embodying the post-millennial Portuguese sound and pushing it to greater, more deranged lengths with that unquenchable flame. Utterly haunting and harrowing whilst exhibiting some of Vulturius’ most nuanced songwriting to date, Assim na Terra como no Inferno is as grim and splendorous as it gets. Those who were immersed in the black metal underground in the mid ’90s will find these sounds nostalgic; newcomers will thrill to the taboo sensations those sounds arouse. The past is truly alive…

As Vulturius explains, “It was in the fall of 2002, with experience brought from other bands and projects, the ideas that have followed me since ’95/’96 flow and quickly turn into lyrics, titles, and songs, when I wrote and immediately recorded it on tape in my room, the first four songs by Irae, which turned out to be the first demo Spreading the Wrath of Satan. I went through all the processes since a young age listening to rock and heavy metal on music videos and tapes to thrash metal, some death metal, until I heard those dark rumors and listened to the first black metal records from the second wave of black metal. It touched me instantly and became a purpose and something that I wanted to follow as a fan, as a musician. Now, after 20 years, I’m still doing it with the same devotion as ever. As time goes by, I thought about something special for this celebration, and nothing is better than a record with new songs glorifying and honoring the dark past of black metal, back when it was dangerous, magical, mystical, and exciting like in the mid ’90s era. Therefore, honoring those times, here’s my take, about what I’ve been following since.” Long may Irae reign!

Cover and tracklisting are as follows:

TERRESTRIAL HOSPICE reveal trailer for new ANCIENT DEAD album – features members of BEHEMOTH, AZARATH, WITCHMASTER+++

Today, Polish black metallers Terrestrial Hospice reveal a trailer for their highly anticipated second album, Caviary to the General, set for international release on February 10th, 2023 via Ancient Dead Productions on CD and cassette tape formats. See & hear Terrestrial Hospice‘s trailer for Caviary to the General in its entirety here:

Forming in 2018, Terrestrial Hospice quickly set to work on their first EP, Universal Hate Speech, released later than year by the esteemed Shadow Records. It’s not surprising that the feverish winds of creativity blew across the duo, as Terrestrial Hospice is the work of two veteran members of the black metal scene, most prominently drummer and driving force Inferno, who’s the erstwhile drummer for Behemoth and Azarath as well as lately playing guitar in Witchmaster. In any case, Universal Hate Speech was a terrorizing tease at a mere 20 minutes, and the duo followed it with the deathblow of their debut full-length, Indian Summer Brought Mushroom Clouds, during that cursed year of 2020. The album was truly titled, and then some: there was no submitting to it, only the act of being flayed alive.

Now, Terrestrial Hospice return with an album arguably even more extreme: Caviary to the General. Compared to its quick ‘n’ concise predecessor, Caviary to the General is undeniably a more expansive spin at 46 minutes; with nine songs instead of the seven on Indian Summer Brought Mushroom Clouds, Terrestrial Hospice are more able to display the full fathom of their flaying strength. Indeed, Caviary to the General caustically keeps the duo’s sound unyielding – a dark, dirty, devastating blast of classic Nordic-style hate steeped in the ancients – but somehow intensifies that berserker flourish so endemic to their native Poland, even with a wider variety of tempos employed. The recording, in kind, is confrontational but never faked: there’s no punching in of parts or copy/paste “production” techniques; the ultraviolence here is very real, and very overwhelming. Despite that unapologetically OTT approach, Terrestrial Hospice never forget actual songwriting – they shift speeds with deftness and dynamics, utilizing their full arsenal – nor the power of RIFFS, which flow and explode in equal measure across Caviary to the General. And perhaps the most surprising aspect of the album is the occasional and ever-so-subtle incorporation of eerie synths into their barbed-wire attack: at once remarkably vintage 1996 and palatably modern.

As savage and acidic as ever but proving they’re not a one-trick pony, Terrestrial Hospice obliterate past and present with Caviary to the General.

SPECTRAL CORRUPTION stream new SIGNAL REX album – features members of CRYPTIC VAMPIRE, SPHERAL VOID

Today, Slovakian black metallers Spectral Corruption stream the entirety of their highly anticipated second album, Requiem. Set for international release today on CD format – the vinyl and tape versions will follow next year – hear Spectral Corruption‘s Requiem in its entirety here:

Formed in the cursed year of 2020, Slovakia’s Spectral Corruption burst from the void fully formed with the debut album Colorless Rays of the Sun. Although at the time only available on Bandcamp, the album nevertheless caught the attention of Signal Rex, who soon released the tape Promo 2021. Crimes were then put in motion for a new Spectral Corruption album through the label.

Now, to round out the ruinous year of 2022, it is here, bearing the title Requiem. Indeed something of a lament, feeling fixed and finite, Spectral Corruption‘s latest full-length bristles with a despair that can only suggest infinite misery, malodorous and miasmic: a vacuum of violence where melodic/majestic riffing gets broken down and blown out. Mainman Verminitar (also of Cryptic Vampire and Spheral Void) howls into that vacuum, drunk on his own power/misery but drowning within it all the same. That he ends the album with a Lamp of Murmuur cover indeed underlines Spectral Corruption‘s place within this uprising of modern RAW black metal.

Preorder info can be found HERE at Signal Rex‘s Bandcamp. Cover and tracklisting are as follows:

GRYMMSTALT stream SIGNAL REX debut – features members of WAMPYRIC RITES, RÜNDGARD, WINTERSTORM, DUNGEON STEEL+++

Today, Chilean/Ecuadorian black metal duo Grymmstalt stream the entirety of their highly anticipated debut album, Anthems of Mournful Despondency. Set for international release on December 21st via Signal Rex on CD format – the vinyl and tape versions will follow in March 2023 – hear Grymmstalt‘s Anthems of Mournful Despondency in its entirety here:

Grymmstalt is a new cross-continental project between two of black metal’s busiest men: Wampyric Strigoi (Wampyric Rites, Dungeon Steel, Aurae Lunae et. al.) and Lord Valtgryftåke (Ründgard, Pyreficativm, Gryftigæn, 13th Temple, Mánþiel et. al.). While both also helm Winterstorm, Grymmstalt foregoes that band’s more medieval ruminations toward the trance-inducing melancholy of Burzum circa Filosofem – or perhaps more concretely, grim disciples like early Forgotten Woods, I Shalt Become, and Wigrid. Their first recording under this banner, Athems of Mournful Despondency is accurately titled: five time-expanding/halting tracks across 45 haunting minutes, shimmering with a strangely full rawness that only heightens (or deepens) the despairing abyss you’ll be inexorably drawn toward.

As Lord Valtgryftåke explains, “Empirically speaking, each of the manifestos on this album recreates step by step the States in which an entity…the being…is possible to experience. It is possible to use pain as a vehicle of initiation to a totally different parameter, far beyond from the veil of earthly misery, far beyond the simple fact of absorbing the pain and these stabbing sensations and channeling a superior construction of the intellect towards various internal parameters of the Temple. Thus, this piece of music would intrinsically correspond to a spiritual nigredo.”

CURSED EXCRUCIATION premiere new track – features TRANCE OF THE UNDEAD member

Today, archaic black metallers Cursed Excruciation premiere the new track “Beast of Fire”. The track is the second to be revealed from the band’s highly anticipated debut album, Arcane Diabolism, set for international release on January 13th, 2023 via Iron Bonehead Productions on vinyl LP format. Hear Cursed Excruciation‘s “Beast of Fire” in its entirety here:

Hailing from Brazil and forming in 2020, Cursed Excruciation is the sole work of one Trance of the Undead, who antagonized trendies last year with his selfsame Trance of the Undead project’s Chalice of Disease debut album via Iron Bonehead. Whereas that band hails the banner of malodorous black/death, Cursed Excruciation is an expurse of sonic sodomy from southern climes circa 1993 – specifically, landmark records like Necromantia’s Crossing the Fiery Path and Mystifier’s Göetia. And yet, whereas black metal as an artform and culture owes so much to those two albums, time has proven that they’re incredibly difficult to replicate, be it songwriting, production, or especially aura.

Enter Cursed Excruciation‘s debut full-length, Arcane Diabolism. Making good on the promise of two demos last year, Trance of the Undead somehow manages to channel the aura of both aforementioned landmarks simultaneously – and, in the process, reveal an identity all his own. Hulking and lurking, surging sulfurously with a primal power that’s exceptionally nuanced, Arcane Diabolism is truly titled: literally Olde Worlde is this black metal, entrancing as it is engaging. Cursed Excruciation cast spells at once ugly and ceremonial, seemingly crude in their dungeonic plunge but transcendental in final effect; physicality is real and wielded freely, just as it was in those fiery days of the early ’90s. Unshackled from orthodoxy but bound by the Devil’s power, all the witches will dance when Cursed Excruciation speak their Arcane Diabolism.

Begin speaking with the previously revealed  “The Sorcerer of Antioch” HERE at Iron Bonehead‘s Soundcloud. Cover and tracklisting are as follows:

Tracklisting for Cursed Excruciation’s Arcane Diabolism
1. The Call… (Intro)
2. Initiation (The Oath of Darkness)
