DARKENED set release date for new EDGED CIRCLE EP, reveal first track – features members of GRAVE, MEMORIAM, A CANOROUS QUINTET, EXCRUCIATE+++

Today, Edged Circle Productions announces January 7th, 2022 as the international release date for a brand-new EP from pan-international death metal elite Darkened titled Mourn the Dying Light on 7″ vinyl format.

While Darkened made a none-more-auspicious start with the Into the Blackness EP during the summer of 2019, it was the band’s debut album, Kingdom of Decay, where they literally EXPLODED onto the scene. Proud and pure death metal, no more but definitely no less, it was not at all surprising that Darkened made an immediate impact given their lineup on that debut full-length: drummer Andy Whale (Memoriam, ex-Bolt Thrower), vocalist Gord Olson (Ye Goat-Herd Gods / Demisery), guitarists Linus Nirbrant (A Canorous Quintet / This Ending) and Hempa Brynolfsson (Excruciate / Ordo Inferus), and new bassist Tobias Cristiansson (Grave / ex-Dismember). Patient and punishing, they proved that true songwriting stuns and crushes when practiced by masters of the death metal craft.

Now, as a precursor to a new full-length in 2022, Darkened arrive with the short & VERY sweet Mourn the Dying Light EP. More spacious but somehow heavier, the two songs comprising this record show that this lineup is truly finding their groove – and by “groove,” we most definitely mean those of a tank! Produced, mixed, and mastered by Linus Nibrant, Mourn the Dying Light maintains a most powerful aspect – clear and crushing, as expected, but with a surprising amount of atmosphere which will likely be expanded upon on that forthcoming second album. Says the band, “This EP continues on from where Kingdom Of Decay ended, and clearly sets the tone for the upcoming album. Pushing even further into lyrical darkness, foreboding heaviness, wistful melody, and murderous aggression, Darkened are forging old-school death metal in a melancholic landscape.”

In the meantime, hear the brand-new track “Black Winter” here:

CONCRETE WINDS stream new SEPULCHRAL VOICE album – out today

Today, black/death monstrosity Concrete Winds stream the entirety of their highly anticipated second album, Nerve Butcherer. Set for international release today via Sepulchral Voice Records, hear Concrete WindsNerve Butcherer in its entirety here:

After Primitive Force in 2019, Concrete Winds now deliver their second full-length, fittingly entitled Nerve Butcherer. The content is hard to believe yet even harder to describe, as words might simply fail regarding this vile eruption of utmost hatred. The record precisely continues where its predecessor left the listener shocked and terrified. Repulsion on 78rpm, Morbid Angel hunting in bloodlust, Terrorizer infected with rabies, or Funeral Mist’s most dreadful moments may be even understatements for this (surely) god-damned cacophony.

Concrete Winds don’t want to please anybody, nor do they want to be accepted. All they want is to spread disgust and confusion; their tongue is that of perversion, abhorrence, and wrath. Ever witnessed a biblical plague of locusts? Well, dare to listen to Nerve Butcherer and you might find the sonic equivalent. Slaughterhouse atmosphere and total destruction meet even nastier moments to bang your head.

Some folks might say it can’t get worse after Primitive Force, but better beware of listening to Nerve Butcherer…as this is truly damn fucking mentally disordered!!!

Ambitiously recorded and mixed by Stefan Brändström at the Dustward Studio, and mastered by Phil Kusabs. Cover and tracklisting are as follows:

Tracklisting for Concrete Winds’ Nerve Butcherer
1. Nerve Butcherer [2:25]
2. Chromium Jaws [3:07]
3. Demonic Truculence [1:57]
4. Industrial Mutilation [2:46]
5. Noise Trepanation [2:18]
6. Intravenous Doctrine [1:59]
7. Flaying Internecine [2:54]
8. Paroxystic Flagellator [2:01]
9. Dissolvent Baptism [4:48]
10. Astomatous Vomiting [2:44]

ARCHGOAT – “Worship The Eternal Darkness” out now!

Three years after the highly acclaimed “The Luciferian Crown“, ARCHGOAT herald the release of their fifth album today. “Worship The Eternal Darkness” is another blasphemous monolith, forcefully combining Black, Death, Punk, Thrash, Grindcore as well as Heavy Metal influences and fusing all these elements into ten coherent tracks. ARCHGOAT‘s angelslaying compositions display old-school finesse with elements of melodic dynamism, thus making “Worship The Eternal Darkness” a worthy addition to the Finnish Black Metal band’s discography.

Listen to “Worship The Eternal Darkness” via Bandcamp or on the YouTube channel of Debemur Morti Productions:

Worship The Eternal Darkness” received praise from media around the world:

The aeon of angel-slaying darkness continues in full force. A triumphant call to arms from this entity of spiritual and temporal blasphemy. Pure impious terror from start to end that prowls in the darkness and conjures a punishing storm of hellfire upon all that is holy.” (Nattskogg)

Worship The Eternal Darkness” in its balanced and intelligent composition, manages to bring with it the history and the future of ARCHGOAT.” (Rock Hard Italy)

Worship The Eternal Darkness” comes as a welcome reminder of how trailblazing and unique a force ARCHGOAT is within an otherwise largely stagnant Black Metal underground.” (Swallowed In Black)

The album can be ordered with fitting merch on the label’s EU, US and Bandcamp shops.

ARCHGOAT crawled from the deepest pits of hell to form in 1989, a demonic trio consisting of the brothers Ritual Butcherer and Lord Angelslayer on guitars and vocals/bass respectively, as well as Blood Desecrator on drums. After a pair of demo tapes, ARCHGOAT shook the Black Metal world in 1993 with the release of their debut EP “Angelcunt (Tales of Desecration)“, showcasing a relentless and bestial blend of Black and Death Metal. With a growing dissolution with the Black Metal scene at large, and a disagreement with their then record label Necropolis Records over the terms of their debut record, ARCHGOAT vanished from scene in late 1993.

In 2004 the gates reopened anew. ARCHGOAT returned to finally release their long-lost material the following year, and then their first official full-length, “Whore of Bethlehem“, in 2006. Since then they have released two more albums, “The Light-Devouring Darkness” in 2009 and “The Apocalyptic Triumphator” in 2015 under Debemur Morti Productions, as well as a series of splits, EPs, and compilations. Between releases they have carved out a reputation for their malevolent live rituals, storming the shores of Europe, the United States, and Mexico alongside bands such as BEHEXEN, BLACK WITCHERY, and HELL MILITIA.

2018 saw ARCHGOAT unleash their satanic opus “The Luciferian Crown“, their second full length under Debemur Morti. An ungodly black sacrament of a kind that only ARCHGOAT can craft, “The Luciferian Crown” is a testament to what Black Metal should be, bestial, unrelenting, and unholy. Black Metal changed, ARCHGOAT did not, and it is their capable hands that shall carry the black flame forward for years to come.

In 2020, the live album “Black Mass XXX” adequately captured the angelslaying chaos present during their gig in Paris in September 2019. The recorded concert was part of ARCHGOAT‘s 30-year anniversary gig series and a worthy addition to their discography. With “Worship The Eternal Darkness” (out November 2021), the Finnish Black Metal band will cement their well-earned reputation for being one of the most consistent bands the scene has ever seen. ARCHGOAT‘s fifth album is, once again, a unique synthesis of occult Finnish Black/Death Metal, harsh Punk, primal Thrash and Grindcore

With ‘Death on a Pale Horse’, the Swedes bring you an epic tale of witchcraft, the black death and revenge!

MORGUILIATH stream new OSMOSE album – features members of SUICIDE CIRCLE+++

Today, French black metal cult Morguiliath stream the entirety of their highly anticipated second album, Occult Sins, New Unholy Dimension. Set for international release on November 26th via Osmose Productions on CD format – the vinyl LP version shall follow later – hear Morguiliath‘s Occult Sins, New Unholy Dimension in its entirety here:

Morguiliath was born in the south of France by Rats in 2004, offering multiple concerts and performances. Two demos have been released and distributed independently. The first album, Age of Misanthropia Human Blood and Chaos, was released in 2020 by Vacuum Tehiru Productions as a very dark album dealing with occultism, demonology, Chaos, and the annihilation of monotheistic beliefs and all forms of religious cults.

Rats is the only one active member in this project, who is also involved in two other projects: Suicide Circle with the illustrious boss of French black metal, Meyhnach, produced and distributed by Osmose; and Dhärnürgh, which remains an independent alternative project.

The new album Occult Sins, New Unholy Dimension follows the path of Morguiliath and respects the ethics of ’80s and ’90s black metal, associating thrash / black metal riffs without forgetting an unhealthy and abysmal atmosphere. Many influences are present here, such as Bathory, Venom, Darkthrone, Nëhëmäh, Hell Militia, Mütiilation, and others…

ULTRA SILVAM set release date for new SHADOW album, reveal first track

Today, Shadow Records (distributed & marketed by Regain Records) announces February 25th as the international release date for Ultra Silvam’s highly anticipated second album, The Sanctity of Death, on CD, vinyl LP, and cassette tape formats.

It was but March 2019 when Sweden’s Ultra Silvam displayed the full furl of their powers with the debut full-length The Spearwound Salvation. In a mere deadly 28 minutes, the power-trio swiftly ‘n’ succinctly asserted their identity, proudly upholding their home country’s history of melodic black metal during the glorious ‘90s but driving toward something uniquely their own – and VIOLENTLY so. In fact, Ultra Silvam’s execution alone was palpitating: every ringing chord, every bashed drum, and every slaughtered tongue bled an authenticity that was refreshing to behold. The fact that they lock-welded such unsafe (and unsterile) execution to dazzling ‘n’ dynamic songwriting made The Spearwound Salvation all the more impressive.

A daunting task, indeed, but Ultra Silvam return to eclipse that feat with their second full-length, The Sanctity of Death. As suggested by its title, The Sanctity of Death bears a more regal aspect to the band’s undulating coils of coruscating violence…but “regal” is only relative here. For Ultra Silvam let loose with a whole host of more wholly HEAVY METAL moves that are turned into tornado-like torrents of black metal classicism. Verily, The Sanctity of Death slices and swaggers with addicting aplomb, the band seemingly drunk on their own power as they dole out teeth-gnashing screeds of sin, salvation, and swallow-your-soul darkness. It’s more immediately memorable and more incredibly finessed, as that crazed execution of yore remains but has been tightened up ever so slightly, allowing these eight bangers & clangers to create an all-enveloping atmosphere of delirium and dementia. You’ll be winded after the album’s over, perhaps, but emboldened by bountiful visions of a dread future – and one worth returning to again, and again, and again.

Possession guaranteed, then, The Sanctity of Death is the natural follow-up to The Spearwound Salvation, brewing in the minds of Ultra Silvam ever since. Featuring recording by Devo Andersson (Marduk) in Endarker Studio, Norrköping, and mixing & matering by Marco S. Vermiglio at The Forge Music Production and completed by compelling cover art by Samuel E. Thomas (Set33), The Sanctity of Death is Ultra Silvam’s grandest strike yet!

Hear for yourself with the brand-new title track “The Sanctity of Death” here:

Also hear the track HERE at Regain Records‘ Bandcamp, where all formats can be preordered. Aforementioned cover art and tracklisting are as follows:

BEKËTH NEXËHMÜ set release date for new PURITY THROUGH FIRE double-album – features members of MUSMAHHU, GREVE, DIGERDÖDEN, MUVITIUM, GNIPAHÅLAN+++

Purity ThroughFire is proud to present Bekëth Nexëhmü‘s highly anticipated third album, De Fornas Likgaldrar, on double-CD and triple-vinyl LP formats. The CD version will be released on December 12th while the vinyl version will follow later next year.

One of the most imposing and revered bands in black metal’s underground for the past decade, Bekëth Nexëhmü have built a literally towering body of work. The band is yet another creative vehicle of  Ancient Records linchpin Swartadauþuz (Azelisassath, Digerdöden, Gnipahålan, Musmahhu, Mystik, Summum, Trolldom, Daudadagr, as well as current labelmates Greve and Muvitium), but it’s largely Bekëth Nexëhmü where the man has most built his legacy. Only two official albums have been released – 2011’s de dunkla herrarna and 2019’s De fördolda klangorna – but it’s the band’s myriad demos, each one arguably greater and grander than most band’s actual albums, that have equally put a frightening new(er) face on Swedish black metal, by turns becoming the nowadays face of the form.

A relative period of quiet lingered for two years prior to that aforementioned second album, but when Bekëth Nexëhmü did return, it was with a monolith that topped two hours in playing time. Another period of quiet resumed following De fördolda klangorna, but for good reason: De Fornas Likgaldrar is yet another two-hour monolith, a true double-album. Thankfully, no great changes have been made to the enduring Bekëth Nexëhmü aesthetic – spiraling melodicism smothered in blizzards of fuzz, acute layering of instruments within an authentically raw soundscape, and absolutely EPIC and engrossing songwriting that’s stultifying and transcendental in equal measure – but the seven component tracks spread across both albums go even greater lengths (LITERALLY) to draw the listener deeper and deeper into forgotten realms. In fact, the two “shortest” tracks here on De Fornas Likgaldrar are a tidy nine and ten minutes each, on the five-song Disc 1, where speed gives way to swell, blazing icicles transformed into bountiful tundra. Then, on Disc 2, the mysticism is stretched to infinity with three double-digit tracks – from 17 minutes to nearly 23 minutes – that begins with a bang and then shimmers sumptuously toward a twilit dream-world no less nightmarish to comprehend. But, as much as such lengths seem like bloat on paper, in reality, they are utterly immersive journeys which both uphold and expand the black metal imagination, the artform’s latent ability to go beyond mere “music” and instead offer a gateway into the vast beyond. And for Bekëth Nexëhmü, there is no Beyond quite like theirs… Creation. Catharsis. Destruction. Ad infinitum.

No more words needed. Bekëth Nexëhmü are releasing a new double-album. You already know whether this is mandatory.

In the meantime, hear the brand-new track “Själslig Urvilja” here:

Cover and tracklisting are as follows:

Tracklisting for Bekëth Nexëhmü’s De Fornas Likgaldrar
1. Sjalslig Urvilja [9:12]
2. Det Isande Kallet [11:06]
3. Nordens Vidder [10:44]
4. Vinterlandskapets Klangor del.I [9:55]
5. Urtidens Kall [18:10]
6. Det Forgangna Dunklet [17:30]

DESTRUCTO stream DYING VICTIMS debut – features members of DÖDSRIT and NUCLEAR DEVASTATION

Today, fukk-off blackspeedmetalpunks Destructo stream the entirety of their highly anticipated debut album, Demonic Possession. Set for international release on November 19th via Dying Victims Productions. hear Destructo‘s Demonic Possession in its entirety here:

The sound, attitude, and execution of Destructo is similar to the band’s moniker: destructive, merciless and total fukk-off-driven! Formed in 2018 as a side-project between erstwhile Dödsrit and Nuclear Devastation bandmates Soulcrusher and Motörphallus as a tribute to bands like Sarcofago, Syphilitic Vaginas, and Japan’s Sabbat, Destructo delivered their debut demo in 2019 – 19 minutes of total & utter destruction!

In the meantime, insanity, blasphemy, narcotics, and intoxication all played their part in inspiring Destructo’s debut album, Demonic Possession. Here, the power-trio amplify those noble influences to a fever pitch while also bringing forward influences from Bathory, Hellhammer, and especially G.I.S.M. With ten songs spanning a skull-crushing 40 minutes, Demonic Possession is a wild fucking ride, even for those prepared to get on in the first place. Cacophonic screams, primitive riffs, bulldozing bass, and berserking D-beats all collide with vocals which approximate a gnarling demon on strict diet of whiskey and amphetamines, making the album best to be enjoyed with…whiskey and amphetamines! Put another way, Destructo make an even stronger case for being the bastard child of raw and chaotic first-wave black metal blended with an unhealthy dose of ‘80s speed/thrash metal mania, Motörcharged riffs & rock ‘n’ roll grooves that creates the Devil’s Rock ‘n’ Roll!

Armed with production that’s slicing and slimy in equal measure and an overwhelming sense of danger both in songwriting and especially execution, the question remains: can you handle Destructo’s Demonic Possession? ARGHHH!!!

. Cover and tracklisting are as follows:

Tracklisting for Destructo’s Demonic Possession
1. Succubus
2. Black Mark
3. In Service Of No One
4. Necromancy
5. Satans Hammer
6. Lycanthro Kommando

Ecuador’s WINTSTORM set release date for SIGNAL REX debut – features members of RÜNDGARD, WAMPYRIC RITES, DUNGEON STEEL, PYREFICATIVM, 13TH TEMPLE+++

On December 3rd internationally, Signal Rex is proud to present the highly anticipated debut album of Ecuador’s WinterstormVinterstormener, on CD format. The vinyl  LP version will follow in 2022.

Originally hailing from Ecuador, Winterstorm belong to the mysterious (and prolific) Pure Raw Underground Black Metal Circle, which includes the esteemed likes of Wampyric Rites, Ründgard, Pyreficativm, Funeral Fullmoon, Mantiel 13th Temple, and Gryftigæn, among many others. In fact, Winterstorm drummer Lord Valtgryftåk himself is involved in current labelmates Ründgard, Pyreficativm, 13th Temple, Mantiel, and Gryftigæn, and here is joined by equally prolific veterans Wampyric Strigoi (vocals/bass – also in Dungeon Steel and Wampyric Rites) and guitarist Bifrous Nocturno.

As Winterstorm, the trio erect somber towers of ancient-times black metal, their crenellations dusted with grim fury and medieval majesty, their fortified keep containing dread secrets. After a pair of demos and a four-way split all in 2020, they released their debut album, Vinterstormener, on cassette via Mahamvantara Arts Records earlier this year. A literal blast from the past, Vinterstormener breathes an authentic essence, its sounds transported from decades ago (or even longer…) as their rich ‘n’ resonant attack conversely creates a melancholia like no other. It’s the very definition of nostalgic, in myriad ways…which one you choose is entirely up to you.

Now finally available on CD and vinyl, Vinterstormener has been mastered by Diogo Santana at Noise Portrait – Lisbon. Heartily recommended for nostalgic maniacs of Bekhira, Winter Funeral, and ’90s Osculum Infame: brave Ecuador’s Winterstorm!
