BLACK METAL NOISE EXPERIMENTALIST CROWHURST SIGNS WITH PROPHECY PRODUCTIONS

July 27, 2018 – Los Angeles, CA – Prophecy Productions has signed prolific experimental harsh noise/black metal crossover superstar, Crowhurst. A project headed by Jay Gambit, Crowhurst stands as a testament to his ability to weave ethereal, engaging soundscapes without falling into the trap which befalls so many prolific artists – predictability. Over 75 releases, and each album remains a dynamic, disorienting exploration unlike the last.
Beginning as a strictly experimental project, Crowhurst grew to encompass various collaborations with artists and producers such as Jack Shirley (Deafheaven, Oathbreaker), who engineered & produced 2015’s I. The 2016 follow up, II was recorded in Manchester, England and produced at Machines With Magnets (The Body, Daughters). Crowhurst finalizes their trilogy with III, to be recorded with legendary producer & engineer Kurt Ballou (Converge, Full Of Hell) at God City Studios later this year, and will be Crowhurst’s Prophecy Productions debut. The effort features guest appearances from Tony Wakeford (Sol Invictus, Death In June), Ethan Lee McCarthy (Primitive Man), and Tara Vanflower (Lycia, Type O Negative) amongst a handful of other notables.

Crowhurst’s music has been featured everywhere from Vice, Decibel, and Terrorizer to The Tom Green Show. Meanwhile, Gambit has collaborated with Gary Mundy (Skullflower, Ramleh), Hiroshi Hasegawa (Astro, C.C.C.C.) and Eugene Robinson (Oxbow) amongst hundreds of others. Gambit is a person that you could talk music with for 6 hours and never repeat a single name. His taste changes across the board, and his music is reflective of this. His music varies, scares you, and leaves you hungry. Tiny Mix Tapes says, “Gambit is more along the lines of a 70’s Miles Davis”. Experimental, harsh, unrelenting and thoroughly unique.

Innovation is an important aspect of Crowhurst. On his signing with Prophecy, Gambit says, “With a roster who’s artists have a reputation for consistently breaking musical barriers and pushing genres in new directions, it is an insane honor to join the Prophecy family of artists.” With notable appearances at SXSW, Northwest Terror Fest and Days of Darkness II, Crowhurst is pleased to announce an appearance at the upcoming inaugural edition of Prophecy Fest USA in Brooklyn, NY this November.

Atmospheric blackmetal act Taur-Im-Duinath “Così Parlò il Tuono” track streaming

Atmospheric blackmetal act, Taur-Im-Duinath, has launched a video streaming for the first single “Così Parlò il Tuono” off the upcoming album “Del Flusso Eterno”, which will be released in fall 2018!

“Così Parlò il Tuono” (Thus Spake the Thunder) represents the broken circle, the stasis, a void of life as well as a journey through a desertic land no more kissed by rain.

The voice of Thunder is the promise of the water’s return, and the life it generates. It is the voice of the creator God, warning the wanderer: “Give, compassion, control”.

Further news will follow during the following weeks….

Australian black metal act, ILL OMEN announce Iron Bonehead 12″

IRON BONEHEAD PRODUCTIONS is proud to present a special mini-album from ILL OMEN, The Grande Usurper, on CD and 12″ vinyl formats.

Listen to it here

A prolific force within the Australian black metal underground, ILL OMEN has built a canon of enviably massive proportions – and not just “massive” in size, but rather in the heights/depths to which mainman IV aims. Much like he has in his death metal-oriented vehicle TEMPLE NIGHTSIDE, IV scours the murk with single-minded intent, but with ILL OMEN, he pursues a vision of black metal that’s ceremonial and sinuous, often slowly drifting like fog lingering across an empty grave. Such was the case with 2016’s massive Æ.Thy.Rift – arguably, IV’s perfection of slo-mo blackdoom – and here, he returns with his first recording since that critically acclaimed third album.

And yet, The Grande Usurper is a grand break from the gooey, stretched-out expanses of Æ.Thy.Rift. No less murky, instead, IV sends the listener on a wild ride through the most bestial recesses of the characteristic ILL OMEN sound. Across its four-song/25-minute runtime, The Grande Usurper roils and revels among the filth, pulsing with barely contained rage, as mind-melting solos yawn slowly up from the crypt, invoking that same sense of delirium as Æ.Thy.Rift but faster. Altogether, it’s a record that consolidates all the gnarled ‘n’ gnarling weapons within the ILL OMEN arsenal, but wields them in obscene and horrifyingly new ways. Hideous energy, slipstreaming songwriting, coffin-bound atmosphere crushed: here is revealed The Grande Usurper.

RODENT EPOCH set release date for SATURNAL debut, reveal first track

Today, Saturnal Records sets October 12th as the international release date for Rodent Epoch’s striking debut album, Rodentlord. An exquisitely nasty work, Rodentlord proves that the filth & fury for which Finnish black metal has become renown in this millennium is far from dead. In fact, it’s UNDEAD, and Rodent Epoch are here to exhume the sound and bring forth their own epoch.

Rodent Epoch was founded in 2009 in Oulu, Finland. Upon the band’s formation, the primary influences fueling their filth & fury became darkness, sickness, cosmos, war, death, intoxication, psychedelia, horror, metal of all kinds – be it black, death, thrash, or doom – punk and rock ‘n’ roll. Suitably armed, Rodent Epoch proceeded to release their debut demo, EOR, in 2011, with the Hellbastard EP arriving a year later, both laying bare the band’s crude ‘n’ rude aesthetic.

Now arrives Rodentlord, which is a journey cathartic sweat: Rodent Epoch murder your ego and reveal your filthy animal host. Cosmic (un-) learning, noise worship, blood, fire, demons, trance and psychosis…all this and plenty more filth goes into the paradigmatic Finnish black metal lustily unleashed across Rodentlord’s 45-minute runtime. Yet, compared to many of their contemporaries both past and especially present, there’s a distinctly punkish and daresay-rockin’ thrust to Rodent Epoch. Their eight animalistic hymns sing thus:

RODENTLORD IS ALIVE
WE HAVE ALL RAISED HIM
WE ARE ALL GUILTY

Piss on purple candles, burn the robe… Come to me and my companions, come to the obscure dominions. We drugged the planet. Welcome to the mayhem, Me and You…
Molten black metal is already pouring down the tower walls. The monster awakens. WAKE UP! Necroseer, wake up! Necroseer, pure guts, pure man…

FUNERAL NEMESIS
MASTER NECRO
FUCK THE WORLD

The gutters explode, and your funeral has arrived. Its name is Rodentlord, and its vessels are the arrogant bastards of Rodent Epoch. Herald the Epoch’s arrival with the new track “High on Hades”

Cover and tracklisting are as follows:

Tracklisting for Rodent Epoch’s Rodentlord
1. High On Hades
2. Rodent Lord
3. Cult Of Mission
4. Mayhem In the Courtyard Of God
5. Red Heavens

Ukraine’s DIS ORCUS stream FOREVER PLAGUED debut album

The most (unbeknown) anticipated album of 2018 for True Black Metal…today, is the Dis Orcus’ debut album, Somnambulistic Visions. Set for international release on July 27th via Forever Plagued Records, hear Dis Orcus’ Somnambulistic Visions in its entirety exclusively HERE.

In these days, where black metal has lost its essence, replaced by dialogue from those who have no intrinsic affinity, Forever Plagued presents to you the debut album of Ukraine’s Dis Orcus. Bringing the very core of what has been lost, against the trends that have turned this genre into subjugated ruins, once again feel the reverberation of chaos and darkness with soulless certainty. Known in the underground for his work in Primogenorum, Haruspex has muted the defiance and created sounds that we call worthy to be defined as “true,” and Lucifug with his haunting vocals were conceived through servitude and pain to the chaos within!

Hear all of it for yourself exclusively HERE.

Cover and tracklisting are as follows:

In 2015, ALTARAGE unleashed a demo simply entitled after its year of release, ‘MMXV’ generated massive interest in the extreme metal scene around the globe. This was followed by the debut album ‘NIHL’ (2016), which received high praise from critics and fans alike.

ALTARAGE return to mercilessly drag you into an abyss of nightmares and twisted meanings. ‘Endinghent’, in their own words, calls the doom inhabitants to reach a whole nothing. Welcome to this new dimension of sonic darkness.

WITCHGÖAT: Black/Thrash Quartet Streaming The Opening Track From The Debut Demo “Umbra Regit”

Salvadoran black/thrash metal force WITCHGÖAT is only a week away from unleashing their debut demo “Umbra Regit” through Morbid Skull Records. The tapes were sold out within a few days after enabling the pre-order option.

Proclaims the band: “The lyric of this song reflects our indisputable conviction to keep creating metal efforts exhumed from any egocentric bullshit that is present in our local scene, unleashing these efforts from the shadows and always praising the dark evocations as the driving force for our personal development.”

In the mid-2016, veteran Salvadorian guitarist P. Scyther started composing music with the idea of erecting a black/thrash metal project that would carry off the effervescence of old school European and Latin American thrash metal, the brutality and the precariousness of the 80s extreme metal, and the melodic ideas of the 90s blackened death metal. Thus, the expedition of conjuring a raw and bona fide old-school sound that is out of any technological refinements had begun. In the beginning of 2017, the drummer E. Driller had become a part of this deadly project and the recording process started immediately under the moniker of WITCHGÖAT. The missing limbs of the ensemble appeared in the middle of 2017 when M. Miasma brought his vomitory vocalizations and creativity and recruited the devoted bass player C. Fog. Since then, this unholy alliance has kept framing mephitic tunes for the debut offering, which they are hoping to produce in the second half of 2018. First demo tape “Umbra Regit” — a ten-plus-minute exhibition of profound malignancy and unstoppable demolition — will be released under the flag of MORBID SKULL RECORDS on July 31, 2018 as a prelude to the debut full length album.

“Umbra Regit” demo tapes, limited to 20 Black Shells + 13 White Shells Stained with Putrid Blood, were sold out immediately upon issuing the pre-order.

ROTTING CHRIST have reached another peak in their long career that now spans over more than three decades. The Greeks have literally stood the test of time. With a steady core line-up and their well-honed live delivery, ROTTING CHRIST are filling concert halls and reap enthusiastic crowd reactions wherever they go. This demonstration of love from their followers is not just driven by nostalgia as the band has managed to evolve and grow, while staying relevant beyond the classics with their highly acclaimed latest albums such as ‘Aealo’ (2010), ‘Κατά τον δαίμονα εαυτού’ (2013), and ‘Rituals’ (2016).

With more than 30 years, 12 studio albums, a dozen EPs, singles and split releases, as well as more than 1.250 shows under their belt, it is about high time to take a retrospective look at this band’s fascinating musical development by picking a select choice of key tracks covering the many facets of ROTTING CHRIST that have sparkled over the years. With such a massive catalogue such an undertaking will always lead to controversy about certain additions as well as omissions from the final list, but the involvement of frontman Sakis Tolis in this extremely difficult task ensures that the result is at least relevant.

ROTTING CHRIST were founded by Sakis Tolis and his brother Themis in the year 1987. Starting out on a basis of death and grind, the Greeks had already embarked on a darker musical journey by the time their debut full-length ‘Thy Mighty Contract’ (1993) was revealed. On the following seven albums covering a ten-year period from ‘Non Serviam’ (1994) to ‘Sanctus Diavolos’ (2004), ROTTING CHRIST steadily defined their own distinct style by experimenting with elements from death, heavy, and gothic metal without betraying their black roots. At the same time, the band went from underground heroes to headliner status. With the highly acclaimed ninth album, ‘Theogonia’ (2007), the Greek stalwarts added an unmistakable native element to their sound, which has remained with them as a signature trademark ever since. Exploring the mythical legacy of cultures around the globe let to ROTTING CHRIST’s massively successful latest release, ‘Rituals’. With ‘Their Greatest Spells’, the Greek metal icons musically revisit their exciting legacy and even contribute a brand new track entitled “I Will Not Serve” to connect their past with the present.

BLOOD HARVEST to release SERPENT RITUAL demo on vinyl

Today, Blood Harvest Records and Helter Skelter Productions set July 27th as the international release date for Serpent Ritual’s debut demo, Nexvs Diaboli, on 12″ vinyl format.

An otherwise new (and mysterious) entity hailing from Italy, Serpent Ritual released Nexvs Diaboli as a cassette in a mere 50 copies, but so impressed by its ritualistic churn, Blood Harvest simply had to release it on vinyl! Indeed, Nexvs Diaboli is ritualistic churn par excellence, upending the usual “bestial metal” cliches by drawing hypnotic influence from the oft-overlooked likes of Demoncy’s Joined in Darkness, mid-period Beherit, and disciples Void Meditation Cult. It’s a creepy and unsettling 20 minutes, but Nexvs Diaboli fatefully works its black magick – join with Serpent Ritual!

In the leadup to its vinyl release, the entirety of Nexvs Diaboli is currently streaming HERE

Cover and tracklisting are as follows:

1. In Pvlverem Mortis
2. Death. Void. Khaos.
3. The Heinous Blessing

Death Metal barbarians Cemetery Urn premiere new track

Today, death metal barbarians Cemetery Urn premiere the new track “Down the Path of the Dead”.
The track hails from the band’s highly anticipated fourth album, Barbaric Retribution, set for international release on August 17th via Hells Headbangers. Hear Cemetery Urn’s “Down the Path of the Dead” in its entirety exclusively HERE.

By now, Cemetery Urn should need no introduction. A staple of the Australian extreme metal scene, for over a decade now, the band have been a study in staunch self-reliance, self-booking two highly successful tours across the United States as well as releasing their first two albums on their own Cemetery Recordings. Although Hells Headbangers would release those first two albums – 2008’s Urn of Blood and 2010’s The Conquered Are Burned – on vinyl in 2011, Cemetery Urn’s spirit is fiercely independent. Not to mention that they’ve a deep history in that Australian extreme metal scene: founding guitarist and songwriter Andrew Gillon also hails from reactivated Aussie barbarians Abominator, and previously played in the final lineup of Bestial Warlust; original vocalist Damon Bloodstorm was renowned as the frontman for Bestial Warlust and for Abominator from 1996-2001; and drummer Matt Crossingham, who’s played with such bands as Belligerent Intent, Scars of Sodom, and Draconis Infernum.

Following up the momentum created by last year’s poised ‘n’ powerful Cemetery Urn, Cemetery Urn strike with arguably their most vicious record yet. Ever aptly titled, Barbaric Retribution indeed makes good on the band’s self-branded “Australian Barbaric Death Metal” tag, taking the martial foundation of their earlier work and locating a blood-red-raw humidity which makes their incendiary maelstrom all the more overwhelming. Cemetery Urn have never been short on powerful production – always, a balance between crush and clarity is sought – but Barbaric Retribution, perhaps due to its take-no-prisoners title, pushes the intensity to near-suffocating levels. But within that unremitting savagery lurks a greater number of doomed-out down-tempo twists and some truly demonic soloing, all ever suggestive of the very literal Armageddon at the heart of their aesthetic. Above all, Barbaric Retribution truly proves that unrelenting intensity and top-shelf songwriting need not be mutually exclusive terms – or, more to the point, that Barbaric Retribution is indeed BARBARIC RETRIBUTION!

Now scaled back to a lean ‘n’ mean quartet, Gillon handled bass in addition to his guitar duties on Barbaric Retribution, but the record sees the arrival of new vocalist S. Geoffery, who’ll also be handling bass for live performances. Says Gillon, “I’d worked with S. Geoffery in Abominator live, so I knew he was capable of total unchained barbaric hatred, but the vocals recorded on the new album went beyond our most brutal expectations. There’s definitely some continuity from the Bloodstorm era of Cemetery Urn to the new era of Barbaric Retribution! The decision to continue as a four-piece will enable Cemetery Urn to get back on the road again and continue to brutalize metal maniacs worldwide! Barbaric Retribution is our manifesto to the stench of existence through this final stage of global decay.”

Indeed, Cemetery Urn will be back on the road this fall touring Europe with Necrowretch – dates below. In the meantime, hear the new track “Down the Path of the Dead” HERE

Cover and tracklisting are as follows:

Presented by Killtown Bookings, the tour kicks off in September and will see both bands razing a dozen cities across eight countries.
