Defeated Sanity Shred Like Maniacs on New Single

DEFEATED SANITY
Up the Punishment with
Accelerating the Rot

“Defeated Sanity have captured the throne of brutal death metal…” – Angry Metal Guy

Ever since their maniacal mastermind picked up his first pair of sticks at the tender age of six, DEFEATED SANITY have found newly inventive ways to spin death metal on its deformed head. This band of technical headbangers have broken onto the Billboard charts with jazz-infused chaos and even recorded a proggy split with…themselves?

But on their upcoming seventh album, DEFEATED SANITY are returning to the brutal slamming that cemented their legacy. The latest single off Chronicles of Lunacy is still plenty twisted, but Accelerating the Rot now stands as one of the fastest songs in the band’s history.

Chronicles of Lunacy comes out November 22 on Season of Mist.

Over the past 30-odd years, many esteemed vocalists have cycled in and out of Defeated Sanity. However, after a satisfyingly gruesome performance on their last album, Josh Welshman is back for Chronicles of Lunacy. His foul emanations bring a refreshing air of continuity. “Each song on the album delves into a different form of mental corruption”, Welshman says.

The album’s lead single stunk of religious fanaticism, but “Accelerating the Rot” races like the mind of a vigilante whose idea of justice is more than a little warped. “One by one, I decimate the miasmic masses“, Welshman roars above a bass line that scrambles all over the fretboard like a blood-hungry tick.

When it comes to death metal, Defeated Sanity understand that there’s more than one way to deliver a beating. After all, the band’s mastermind is one of the world’s sickest drummers. Since his father’s passing in 2010, Lille Gruber has composed the bulk of their imposing discography.

“We love experimenting”, he explains. Even though “Accelerating the Rot” is just a few scraggly chin beard hairs over three minutes long, Gruber never stops switching between different blistering tempos. And yet – whether he’s blasting, pinging or flaying his snare, the song never loses its oddball bounce.

“Lille’s drumming is just ridiculous”, says bassist Jacob Schmidt. “He’s still the face of the franchise, so we’re never going to abandon those head-scratching moments that have always set Defeated Sanity apart”.

The band’s previous single crept and crawled into the album’s most slam-heavy breakdown. Thanks to its lurching groove, the breakdown on the latest single from Chronicles of Lunacy will still scrunch plenty of noses, but “Accelerating the Rot” punches the gas and heads straight for the loony bin. Their maniacal timekeeper is still working the controls, but the blinding pace is set by new guitarist Vaughn Stoffey, who chews through chunky shredding and squeals of dissonance with fresh fingers.

“Accelerating the Rot is one of the fastest songs in Defeated Sanity’s history”, Stoffey says. “It gets back to the sheer brutality that fans love about Psalms of the Moribund and Chapters of Repugnance“.

The video for “Accelerating the Rot” was created by Obscenery Films.

More praise for Defeated Sanity:

“One of the most extreme things I’ve ever heard” – Decibel

A jazz ensemble hiding in plain sight as a brutal tech-death band” – No Clean Singing

“While the rest of us smooth-brained mortals are content with playing checkers or Connect Four, these guys are playing six simultaneous games of 3D chess with their swollen, pulsating minds” – Metal Sucks

“Should be up for some sort of award for being one of this offshoot’s most steadily morphing bands” – Last Rites

“Defeated Sanity’s brutality comes almost entirely from their demandingly intricate songwriting” – Toilet Over Hell

“Defeated Sanity has crafted a sound that is wholly their own” – Heaviest of Art

The underground lost their collective mind when DEFEATED SANITY announced Chronicles of Lunacy. Metalheads couldn’t wait to bang heads over the first pressing of their new album. Several of the color variants are already sold out, but anyone who missed out isn’t condemned to suffer in silence.

The second pressing of Chronicles of Lunacy is now available for pre-order. This pressing includes a translucent lime color variant that’s exclusive to the Season of Mist webstore. Don’t wait! This variant is limited to 150 copies.

DEFEATED SANITY is unequivocally one of the most unique, boundary-pushing and crucial bands in the history of extreme death metal. Their music is as technically coherent as it is mind-bending and memorable. Endlessly replay-able and full of discovery, their maze of riffs and musical passages is inspired by infamous classic bands in the extreme metal genre, while also heavily steeped in jazz and progressive classical elements.

The band consists of four members. They’re led by drummer Lille Gruber, who’s the son of deceased co-founding member Wolfgang Teske. Gruber is joined by bandmates Jacob Schmidt (bass), Josh Welshman (vocals) and Vaughn Stoffey (guitar).

As well as being the drummer of Defeated Sanity, Gruber is the multi- instrumental, songwriting mastermind behind the band’s deep and compelling catalogue of songs and compositions. He possesses a bag of tricks seen nowhere else in the genre, and a musical prowess which is on full display throughout their new album Chronicles of Lunacy.

“We love experimenting”, explains drummer and founding member Lille Gruber. “But we realized that some of our oldest fans might have gotten lost after our last couple of albums. With the new one, we wanted to focus more on neck-snapping brutality”.

Chronicles of Lunacy punches you right in the face. Press play and “Amputationsdrang” already has you pinned to the mat beneath its non-stop blasts. Get comfortable, too, because Defeated Sanity don’t let the album up for air until the very end of Track 4. But turns out, acting like knuckle-dragging cavemen isn’t so easy for a band that has a Mensa-level maestro like Gruber at the controls.

At the tender age of six, Lille Gruber picked up heavy guitar and drums. Inspired by killer American BDM bands like Disgorge, Monstrosity and Brodequin, the German wunderkind recorded the band’s first demo alongside his father, Wolfgang Teske. Since Wolfgang’s passing in 2010, Gruber has taken on the bulk of the composing for Defeated Sanity. Whether he’s hammering his snare, pinging between cymbals or riding a colossal groove, The Chronicles of Lunacy flows like a never-ending stream of filth.

“Lille’s drumming is just ridiculous”, Jacob Schmidt says. Schmidt – who toured with Obscura behind Cosmogenesis – joined as the other half of Defeated Sanity’s chaotic rhythm section for the band’s beloved second album. His nimble, belching bass give the new album’s lead single “The Odour of Sanctity” a dizzying bounce. “He’s the face of the franchise, so we’re never going to abandon those head-scratching moments that set Defeated Sanity apart”.

Indeed, Chronicles of Lunacy isn’t Defeated Sanity for dummies. Heck, the lyrics are wrapped up in the twisted ways that delusions can rot the human psyche. This heady concept was made flesh by none other than Jon Zig. Drawn in painstaking detail by his wicked right hand, the album’s cover shows that the birth of some ideas look an awful lot like a gory and sex-crazed nativity scene.

“Each song on Chronicles deals with a different form of mental corruption”, Josh Welshman says”.  “Odor” stinks of religious fanaticism. “A Patriarchy Perverse” cracks open the mind of co-ed killer Ed Kemper, while “Extrinsically Enraged” practically foams at the mouth with squealing hammer-ons.  “That one’s more literal”, says Welshman with a hearty laugh. “It’s about contracting rabies”. If it weren’t for Disposal of the Dead / Dharmata, then Defeated Sanity would’ve chewed through as many vocalists as they have albums, but after a brutal showing on their last one, Welshman is back with more guttural vengeance. His growls ooze from the pit of his gut on “Temporal Disintegration”, stomped out like the innards of a cockroach by the gravity-defying slams.

While it still hits from every odd angle, Chronicles of Lunacy does draw a jagged red line back to Defeated Sanity’s brutal origins. After all, the band now share a label with their namesake. In true, DS fashion, the first song written for this album was “Heredity Violated”, a headbanging grand finale that never stops chugging. “This album isn’t as tough on the brain as the last two”, says new guitarist Vaughn Stoffey, whose chunky riffs whip “Accelerating the Rot” into the fastest song in the band’s canon. “It’s rawer and more straightforward, which gets back to what fans love about Psalms of the Moribund“.

To dig up the sheer brutality that long-time fans have come to crave, Defeated Sanity returned to Thousand Cave Studios. New York City’s most vile underground hotspot also served as the excavation site for the Billboard-charting The Sanguinary Impetus, which shoveled a fresh layer of dirt over the “polished” production of Passages into Deformity. But the band encouraged producer Colin Marston to get down and dirty with Chronicles of Lunacy. “We still wanted some of the high fidelity that you hear on modern death metal records”, Schmidt says, “but this album has the same crushing low-end as Psalms or Chapters of Repugnance“.

The band execute this two-headed approach to monstrous effect on “Condemned to Vascular Famine”. At just under six minutes, the song delivers the longest ass beating on Chronicles of Lunacy. At times, all four members sound like they’re climbing up the walls in separate asylums, but after slipping in a brief nod to Bram Stoker’s Dracula, the band come slamming down into the album’s ugliest breakdown.

“That’s one of our favorites”, the band says. “It lands at a crossroad of the DS sound that we ended up with on Chronicles of Lunacy. Even though it gets pretty fucking weird at times, there’s still an emphasis on heavy, straight-up slamming”.

None of their albums are ever going to follow a straight line, but on Chronicles of Lunacy, Defeated Sanity return to sheer brutality.

NOGOTHULA set release date for BLOOD HARVEST debut – features VALDRIN member+++

Blood Harvest Records is proud to present Nogothula‘s striking debut album, Telluric Sepsis, on CD, vinyl LP, and cassette tape formats. The tape version will be released on October 25th, the CD on November 29th, and the vinyl on December 13th.

Hailing from Cincinnati, Ohio, Nogothula formed in 2021 originally as a trio, including vocalist / guitarist Colton Deem of the mighty VALDRIN and vocalist / bassist Eric Payne of regional heroes Verment. Alex Hooper rounded out the band on drums, and together they released the Gore Vortex Ascension demo a year later. The title itself gave more than a small indication of the sci-leanings the band would soon explore across their surging & slamming style of death metal. Guitarist Nick Moeller would later join, and as a quartet, Nogothula would record their debut album, Telluric Sepsis

Released digitally in April 2024, Telluric Sepsis now sees a physical release courtesy of Blood Harvest. And for good reason: sharper, strangely concise, and yet also more mind-bending, Telluric Sepsis is prime progressive-leaning death metal that never loses sight of the original essence of DEATH METAL. References are many – early 2000s Decapitated, Pierced From Within-era Suffocation, pre-Obscura Gorguts, late ’90s Cryptopsy – but Nogothula possess an elusive nous that minces and mangles those sturdy signposts in a manner that’s familiar and foreign in equal measure. While the sci-fi element isn’t as pronounced as, say, Nocturnus’ first couple albums, there’s nevertheless an undercurrent of “supernatural spaciness” to the overall atmosphere of Telluric Sepsis – part production, perhaps, or part songwriting itself. For the latter, the songwriting found within the nine-song / 43-minute album slices & sluices with deadly precision, keeping momentum always moving forward but equally unsettling the listener; linear trajectories are to be found here, but the sum effect is swarming and cyclonic. And even amidst the brutal breakdowns, the razor-wire riffing runs riot across Telluric Sepsis, peppered with fleeting-yet-furious leads while Deem and Payne’s dual vocals make that swarming / cyclonic effect hit that much harder. Feel the lacerating vibrations of Nogothula and behold their labyrinthian sunken spires!

In the meantime, stream Telluric Sepsis in its entirety here:

CANDARIAN sign with MEMENTO MORI, prepare debut album

In their endless quest to push and support current underground acts that perpetuate the odor of vintage death metal, Memento Mori are extremely thrilled to announce a new signing: Candarian, from Costa Rica.

Hailing from one of the most fertile scenes in recent years, Candarian was spawned in 2020 when Christopher (guitar) and Jose Pablo (bass/vocals) decided to start a new project inspired by old-school death metal from the early ’90s, like Autopsy and Incantation, with lyrics revolving around themes of gore and horror. After some rehearsals, Pablo (drums) and Felipe (guitar) were recruited, and the lineup was then completed. The following months, the band focused on finishing their debut demo, titled Stagnant Livor Mortis, and presenting it live throughout the local scene.

Candarian‘s malignant, odious, reckless, and groove-laden death metal could bring long-buried corpses bubbling to the surface in a quagmire of rottenness. It’s a putrescent and slimy soundscape of horror and doom that goes above the basic old-school worship, while including all the necessary filth that vintage death metal needs, to create something with a haunting quality, too, making for a much-more-unforgettable listen. Prepare to bang your head and drudge through the mulched layers of corpses that Candarian leave in their wake. The time is nigh to become possessed by real terror and carnage!

Candarian‘s debut full-length is due out by mid-2025. Memento Mori will release the CD version, and Me Saco Un Ojo Records will take care of the LP, tape, and digital versions. Further details to follow in the coming months. For more info, consult the links below.

Come on out and smash it to the wall with us and our pals Desolus – going to be wildddddddddddddddddddddd.”

In other Deceased news, the vinyl version of Children of the Morgue is now available for preorder HERE.

***

By now, Deceased need no introduction. One of the longest-running American death metal bands, since 1985, Deceased have been there for it all: death metal’s genesis, its creative peak, its commercial peak and subsequent sink into trendiness, the eventual fallout and “un-trendiness,” its rebirth at the hands of a new generation, and on and on. There they have stood, simply and 100% always Deceased, not caring what year it is or what is hip – simply, always, DEATH METAL FROM THE GRAVE!

And across their sizable-yet-succinct discography, at their heart, Deceased have always been a great HEAVY METAL band. They proved it with 1997’s landmark Fearless Undead Machines and continued to prove it with every album thereafter, with 2018’s Ghostly White showing that even this MANY years on, their pistons are pumping harder and more creatively than ever.

During those past three decades, Deceased have not been without ambition. Even when stretching the limits of complexity like on 1995’s The Blueprints for Madness, true-to-death storytelling has always been at the fore of their work, vividly illustrated by the characteristic throat of founder / former drummer King Fowley. And although Fearless Undead Machines was perhaps the apex of that storytelling, never before have Deceased attempted such an emotional, topically rooted-in-death album…until now!

Enter Children of the MorgueDeceased‘s darkest record to date. The album’s concept is on dying and all that it entails, and suitably do the band integrate nearly every element of their past and present arsenal into its 55-minute runtime. “There will be fast parts, slow parts, melodic parts, noisy parts, and everything in between,” Fowley claimed pre-release, and he’s not wrong! But how Deceased manage to thread everything together so seamlessly speaks to the strength of their songwriting – always recognizable, but never resting on past laurels. Here on Children of the Morgue, moody-yet-melodic riffing and lead-work take center stage as Fowley narrates this epic-length tale of life and death. The album’s exceptional pacing and engaging, always-going-forward song constructions heighten the sensation that the record is a lot shorter than it actually is; however, if one was to do some quick math, he’d surmise at least half these tracks are indeed EPIC – at or above the eight-minute mark. Nevertheless, the sum effect is mesmerizing and even majestic, unremittingly DARK as the subject matter may be. The final icing on the cake (or slamming of the morgue’s doors?) is the warm & rustic recording courtesy of Oblivion Studios, where the aforementioned Fearless Undead Machines and co-classic Supernatural Addiction were rendered onto tape.

Nearly 40 years since their formation, Deceased show no signs of stopping – and, in fact, are arguably more potent than ever. You can now add Children of the Morgue to their list of undeniable classics…but this is not the end! Cover and tracklisting are as follows:

ANCIENT MALIGNITY stream new INHUMAN ASSAULT album – features members of RITUAL GENOCIDE, TRIUMPH Nevada+++

Today, extremist death metallers Ancient Malignity stream the entirety of their highly anticipated second album, Dehumanization Dawn. Set for international release on October 1st via Inhuman Assault Productions, hear Ancient Malignity‘s Dehumanization Dawn in its entirety here:

Hailing from Nevada, Ancient Malignity made their public debut in 2020 with a self-titled full-length, courtesy of Inhuman Assault. The rabid assault of Ancient Malignity might’ve been unexpected – or, rather, unsuspecting – if it weren’t for the power-trio’s other concurrent bands, which include labelmates Triumph and Ritual Genocide. While Ancient Malignity‘s barbarity stacks up well next to those two bestial hordes, theirs has even deeper grounding in extremist DEATH METAL – and they’ve eclipsed that feat with their second album, Dehumanization Dawn.

Like a lost relic from the mid-to-late ’90s, Ancient Malignity‘s second album surges and slices with both palpitating precision and gangrenous gnarliness. Those maniacs out there who hold high the torch of such old gods as Order From Chaos, Imprecation, Sacramentary Abolishment, America’s Crucifier, old Vital Remains, and earliest Kataklysm should find red-eyed solace in the blitzed & bleary decibels on display across Dehumanization Dawn. Even the production itself sounds era-authentic – dank, dingy, and dungeoned, but no less muscular – and while tones and textures can form a solid foundation for many a death metal record, it’s the hands of those who build that noble foundation that matter most: Ancient Malignity thus duly excel at the art of labyrinthine-yet-linear songwriting, making Dehumanization Dawn a most enticing spelunk among ancient corridors.

Preorder info can be found HERE at Inhuman Assault‘s Bandcamp. Cover and tracklisting are as follows:

The track is the second to be revealed from the band’s highly anticipated fourth album, To Lay Siege and Conquer, set for international release on October 25th via Adirondack Black Mass. Hear Blasphemous‘s “Martyr Complex” in its entirety here:

Philadelphia’s Blasphemous formed in 2003 with one intention: to write and record blackened death metal. A lot has changed in the past 21 years, but one thing has remained: the band’s sense of passion and willingness to persevere despite lineup changes, a hiatus, and the shifting of the music industry. Returning later this year with To Lay Siege and Conquer, their first LP since 2018, Blasphemous are a reminder that death and darkness will always prevail.

Led by founding member Ron “RK” Kaiser and steeped in influence from Morbid Angel, Deicide, Watain, Angelcorpse, and Immortal, Blasphemous have always been uncompromising in their approach to writing and recording. The band’s first incarnation released their first demo, Storm of Chaos, in 2005. Quickly establishing themselves as a force to be reckoned with live and in the studio, BLASPHEMOUS released their first album, Incineration of the Cult, in 2008. They quickly followed it up with a second album, Bearer of the Darkest Plagues, but lineup instability brought things to a close in 2013…for a time.
Feeling that there was more to be said, RK reformed Blasphemous in 2016, assembling a new lineup that included Engulf guitarist Hal Microutsicos, lead guitarist Steve Shreve, bassist Josh Guinter, and drummer Mark Vizza. Signing to Horror Pain Gore Death Productions, that lineup released the third Blasphemous album, Emerging Through Fire. It revealed a band more energized, more creative, and more ready for domination than ever before, leading to a number of short tours and one-off live performances.

Guinter departed the band and was replaced by bassist Dan Lee in 2020, during a time when live performances ceased. Forging ahead, Blasphemous wrote and recorded the Eternal Misanthropy EP, which saw release in 2022, supported by physical releases from Unchained Tapes and Born for Burning. With a solid foundation finally established, Blasphemous are once again prepared to make their mark on the underground when To Lay Siege and Conquer is released October 25th on Adirondack Black Mass.

Sweden’s CRYPTORIUM set release date for PERSONAL RECORDS debut, reveal first track

On November 29th internationally, Personal Records is proud to present the highly anticipated debut album of Sweden’s CryptoriumDescent Into Lunacy, on CD format. Iron Fortress Records will be handling the cassette tape version.

Hailing from Karlstad, Sweden’s Cryptorium started in November of 2022 by Fabian Larsen, Knalle Arvidsson, and a drummer who was fired within the first five months of the band. Due to lack of drummer, Fabian and Knalle continued writing material as a duo, which would later take shape as the Cryptic Bloodlust demo, which was released in July 2023. The demo was released digitally and as an independent cassette tape limited to 20, which sold out on preorder before the release date. The band later made 30 more independent cassettes, which all sold out within a month. Cryptic Bloodlust was also issued on cassette by Iron Fortress Records and on CD through Nihil Productions.

A week after the release, the demo was heard by Albin Holgersson, who would join Cryptorium and save them from disbanding completely. Now, as a trio, stronger than ever, Cryptorium started to write music for what was going to become their debut full-length, Descent Into Lunacy. The recording process was done parallelly with the band playing shows from December 2023 to April 2024 – and now, it’s ready to be unleashed.

Faster, louder, and ruder than ever, Cryptorium have risen from the ashes of the glory days of Swedish death metal during the late ’80s and early ’90s. Taking inspiration from such bands as Dismember, Entombed, Nirvana 2002, Dissection, and Gorement, Cryptorium‘s Descent Into Lunacy is aptly titled: madness, mania, METAL, all evil as fuck and gutted beyond belief. Unholy and uneasy, this eight-song / 30-minute slab doesn’t want to reinvent the wheel so much as rot it from within; no more but definitely no less, this is relentless, gloomy, and merciless HM-2-driven DEATH METAL made for the depraved to consume. Dare you Descent Into Lunacy? NOT FOR WHIMPS AND POSERS!

In the meantime, hear the brand-new track “Void of Life” here:

Defiled Premiere ‘Horror Beyond Horror’

DEFILED
Hone Their Legacy on
Horror Beyond Horror
Death metal masters now touring their new album throughout Japan
“‘Horror Beyond Horror’ again finds Defiled stuck on the upswing” – Decibel

For the past three decades, DEFILED have kept their blade sharp. Ever since Tokyo’s underground lost their minds over the band’s grotesque arsenal of finishing moves, Yusuke Sumita and his death metal samurai set off on a war path that’s left nothing but inevitable ruin in their raw wake. They’ve ransacked Milwaukee Metal Festival and joined forces with their fellow legends in Mayhem, Incantation, Morbid Angel and Cannibal Corpse.

Having now churned out three albums in almost as many years, metalheads can be forgiven for believing that Defiled had already reached the highest level. But the Japanese legends have topped themselves again on their eighth album. Horror Beyond Horror comes out this Friday, September 20, but you can hear all 14 slicing and dicing songs today by listening to the full album stream on Season of Mist’s YouTube channel.

Listen to Horror Beyond Horror here:

After they first took to the stage in 1995, Defiled needed nearly a decade before finally erupting with wrath on their debut album. But ever since the band’s lineup solidified around original member Yusuke Sumita, they haven’t stopped to look back and admire all the ugliness they’ve revealed. Horror Beyond Horror comes hot on the heels of the album they released just last year, which Metal Injection listed as one of the can’t-miss releases of 2023.

Like a poisonous dart, Defiled come shooting out of the shadows on Horror Beyond Horror. Blast beats pummel at unforeseen angles amidst “Smoke and Mirrors”. “Every lie has been revealed”, fearless frontman Shinichiro Hamada shouts, taking aim at perpetual frauds and tyrannical technocrats. The band charges into the pit behind bassist Takachika Nakajima’s greasy groove, which is snapping plenty of necks on their current Japanese tour.

“We wanted this album to be natural and realistic”, Sumita told New Noise. “We did not use any editing or artificial techniques in the recording process”.

With 30 years and eight albums under their belt, Defiled know where to stick the blade on Horror Beyond HorrorThe album’s title track shreds through the corrupted torment of mind control with riffs that are honed from the jagged influence of ’80s thrash and hardcore. “The time has come”, the band spit at their captors with utter disgust. “Death strikes you with derision”.

Defiled aren’t afraid to crack open people’s skulls, either. Horror Beyond Horror descends deeper and deeper into the psychological shadows the further you go down the track list. “Syndicate” conspires around a greasy, pit-dwelling breakdown but drummer Keisuke Hamada never stops chopping up the tempo. “The path to your elimination”, Shinichiro Hamada cries, digging in amidst a flurry of blast beats during the album’s final boss “To See Behind the Wall”. Whether they’re slicing, dicing or leaping into a furiously fast solo, the band’s riffs take no prisoners.

“We still love death metal and are very proud to be recognized as a death metal band”, Sumita tells Antichrist Magazine. “At the same time, it’s clear from our songs that we do not follow trends. Who would be interested in a Japanese bands that follows Western trends? We have our own perspective, and we have been going our own way for many years now, and we are convinced that we are on the right path”.

On Horror Beyond Horror, Defiled unleash the kind of old-school ass-kicking that only true masters can deliver.

More praise for Defiled

“The one-two punch of tight musicianship and an inclination to pummel into submission without the need for flashy antics makes for a dazzling experience” – Ghost Cult

“It’s phenomenal what they’ve done and can do in the realm of death metal” – Distorted Sound

“Encapsulates both the oldschool familiarity and the modern aesthetics of death metal” –Metal Trenches

“By the time you’ve become deep within the album, you’ll be wondering just what else they can possibly jut up when they’ve already hit you ten or eleven times already with completely unique songwriting” – The Razor’s Edge

In customary fashion, this fall, Defiled are welcoming Horror Beyond Horror with a tour of Japan. Watch these legends shred through “Horror Beyond Horror”, “Smoke and Mirrors”, “To See Beyond the Wall”, “Syndicate” and other nasty rippers off their new album for the very first time.

The band also have two very special shows planned for later this year. In November, they’ll bang heads with fans in Bangkok alongside Batushka and Malevolent Creation. Then, to cap off what’s already shaping up to be another gloriously hellish year in their 30-year history, Defiled will share the stage with Hellchild and Satanic Hell Slaughter in a joint celebration of Japan’s historic death metal scene.

“As a Japanese death metal band, we wanted to reflect on where our scene started”, says Yusuke Sumita, who’s been Defiled’s guitarist since the band started in 1992. “Hellchild and Satanic Hell Slaughter are legends who built the Japanese death metal scene in the early ’90s. We are honored to have them return to share the stage with us. We want the young Japanese metalheads to come to this show. Don’t miss it”.

From the depths of Tokyo’s darkest alleys, Defiled have emerged once again, claws sharpened, eyes bloodshot, ready to unleash a fresh dose of unadulterated savagery with their latest full-length studio album, Horror Beyond Horror. Marrying the grotesque with technical prowess, these samurais of sickness are poised to carve another notch into the archives of death metal’s sordid history.

Since crawling from the primordial soup of the underground scene in the early ’90s, Defiled have forged a path littered with broken souls. Their journey of destruction first sank its teeth into the international jugular with Erupted Wrath, mixed by the masterful Jim Morris in Tampa, Florida. This brutal assault opened gates to a global bloodletting, from leveling stages in South Korea to crushing skulls at the Milwaukee Metalfest, and not even the November to Dismember fest could foresee the carnage they’d bring.

Commandeering the technical tightrope between anarchy and precision, Defiled evolved, much like an aberrant spawn isolated on the Galapagos, grotesque yet ultimately superior. Their subsequent onslaughts — Ugliness RevealedDivination, and the sheer violence of In Crisis — built a monument to atrocity that ascends to new heights with Horror Beyond Horror.

Taking no prisoners in their three-decades-long campaign of terror, Defiled have become the indestructible behemoth of Asia’s death metal scene, powered by the relentless engine of their oldschool roots and the twisted wreckage of technical thrash and progressive rock innovation.

But enough with the history lesson, you came here for the carnage, didn’t you? Horror Beyond Horror is a 14-track massacre, riddled with riffs sharp enough to slit your throat and a rhythmic onslaught that’ll pulverize your pathetic bones. Each track, from the visceral “Smoke and Mirrors” to the haunting “To See Behind the Wall”, is a calculated strike, precision-engineered to leave no survivors. Let’s not forget the eponymous “Horror Beyond Horror”, a track that cements Defiled’s legacy as harbingers of the apocalypse.

With a sound as raw as exposed nerve endings and as unrefined as a mass grave, Defiled stands defiantly apart from the polished poseurs and shameless sellouts. They don’t peddle in cheap gimmickry or nostalgia; they deal in the currency of pure, unfiltered destruction. As they look out upon the charred landscape of the genre they’ve helped to define, Defiled is not content to rest on their laurels. Horror Beyond Horror sees them, once again, ascending to the blood-soaked throne of death metal sovereignty.

BLACK CURSE set release date for new SEPULCHRAL VOICE album, reveal first track

Behold, ye disciples of sepulchral darkness! With utmost pride, Sepulchral Voice Records annunciates Black Curse‘s sophomore album, Burning in Celestial Poison, to be released internationally on October 25th.

Four years have passed since Endless Wound left stigmatas on mankind, but be sure, the quartet will cut even deeper now. Burning in Celestial Poison is not only a statement and lesson in audio-violence, it is a 44-minute-long manifest of radical DEATH metal causing mental lacerations and chaos!

A record supposed to shock, because of its ecstatic ruthlessness and massive fanatical malevolence, hovering deep below the compositions. It opens the doors to a world that is so unbelievably vast that you risk losing yourself in it; its depths defy exegesis.

Four curses are woven into four hymns of utter death-magic, which will lead you into the black abyss of the grand divine.

Burning in Celestial Poison truly is an agonized infernal within, shattered and re-jointed into the darkness of the physical. Extreme intensity pointed cruelly towards the soul to extinguish the spirit.

The album was again produced by master Arthur Rizk, who cuts through all expectations with extraordinarily dense and destructive fidelity and production. Burning in Celestial Poison sounds like it was created with the magick, formulas, codes, and keys of a world beyond.

In order to understand the dark sublimity of this album, maybe other perspectives must be considered, which are not yet defined properly. In our world, it will be considered ugly and oppressive by those who are not able to succumb to its glorious depths. Intentionally breaking with modern listening habits (and avoiding all rules of song length and structure), it achieves the best result when experienced in darkness and at maximum volume.

Burning in Celestial Poison meanders and finishes with a prophetic roaring sound that surely comes from the world we have to face, which is the world in fire. MORTE MORTE MORTE.
