BLOOD HARVEST to release SERPENT RITUAL demo on vinyl

Today, Blood Harvest Records and Helter Skelter Productions set July 27th as the international release date for Serpent Ritual’s debut demo, Nexvs Diaboli, on 12″ vinyl format.

An otherwise new (and mysterious) entity hailing from Italy, Serpent Ritual released Nexvs Diaboli as a cassette in a mere 50 copies, but so impressed by its ritualistic churn, Blood Harvest simply had to release it on vinyl! Indeed, Nexvs Diaboli is ritualistic churn par excellence, upending the usual “bestial metal” cliches by drawing hypnotic influence from the oft-overlooked likes of Demoncy’s Joined in Darkness, mid-period Beherit, and disciples Void Meditation Cult. It’s a creepy and unsettling 20 minutes, but Nexvs Diaboli fatefully works its black magick – join with Serpent Ritual!

In the leadup to its vinyl release, the entirety of Nexvs Diaboli is currently streaming HERE

Cover and tracklisting are as follows:

Tracklisting for Serpent Ritual’s Nexvs Diaboli
1. In Pvlverem Mortis
2. Death. Void. Khaos.
3. The Heinous Blessing

Death Metal barbarians Cemetery Urn premiere new track

Today, death metal barbarians Cemetery Urn premiere the new track “Down the Path of the Dead”.
The track hails from the band’s highly anticipated fourth album, Barbaric Retribution, set for international release on August 17th via Hells Headbangers. Hear Cemetery Urn’s “Down the Path of the Dead” in its entirety exclusively HERE.

By now, Cemetery Urn should need no introduction. A staple of the Australian extreme metal scene, for over a decade now, the band have been a study in staunch self-reliance, self-booking two highly successful tours across the United States as well as releasing their first two albums on their own Cemetery Recordings. Although Hells Headbangers would release those first two albums – 2008’s Urn of Blood and 2010’s The Conquered Are Burned – on vinyl in 2011, Cemetery Urn’s spirit is fiercely independent. Not to mention that they’ve a deep history in that Australian extreme metal scene: founding guitarist and songwriter Andrew Gillon also hails from reactivated Aussie barbarians Abominator, and previously played in the final lineup of Bestial Warlust; original vocalist Damon Bloodstorm was renowned as the frontman for Bestial Warlust and for Abominator from 1996-2001; and drummer Matt Crossingham, who’s played with such bands as Belligerent Intent, Scars of Sodom, and Draconis Infernum.

Following up the momentum created by last year’s poised ‘n’ powerful Cemetery Urn, Cemetery Urn strike with arguably their most vicious record yet. Ever aptly titled, Barbaric Retribution indeed makes good on the band’s self-branded “Australian Barbaric Death Metal” tag, taking the martial foundation of their earlier work and locating a blood-red-raw humidity which makes their incendiary maelstrom all the more overwhelming. Cemetery Urn have never been short on powerful production – always, a balance between crush and clarity is sought – but Barbaric Retribution, perhaps due to its take-no-prisoners title, pushes the intensity to near-suffocating levels. But within that unremitting savagery lurks a greater number of doomed-out down-tempo twists and some truly demonic soloing, all ever suggestive of the very literal Armageddon at the heart of their aesthetic. Above all, Barbaric Retribution truly proves that unrelenting intensity and top-shelf songwriting need not be mutually exclusive terms – or, more to the point, that Barbaric Retribution is indeed BARBARIC RETRIBUTION!

Now scaled back to a lean ‘n’ mean quartet, Gillon handled bass in addition to his guitar duties on Barbaric Retribution, but the record sees the arrival of new vocalist S. Geoffery, who’ll also be handling bass for live performances. Says Gillon, “I’d worked with S. Geoffery in Abominator live, so I knew he was capable of total unchained barbaric hatred, but the vocals recorded on the new album went beyond our most brutal expectations. There’s definitely some continuity from the Bloodstorm era of Cemetery Urn to the new era of Barbaric Retribution! The decision to continue as a four-piece will enable Cemetery Urn to get back on the road again and continue to brutalize metal maniacs worldwide! Barbaric Retribution is our manifesto to the stench of existence through this final stage of global decay.”

Indeed, Cemetery Urn will be back on the road this fall touring Europe with Necrowretch – dates below. In the meantime, hear the new track “Down the Path of the Dead” HERE

CEMETERY LUST stream new HELLS HEADBANGERS album

Today, filthy deathrashers Cemetery Lust stream the entirety of their highly anticipated third album, Rotting in Piss. Set for international release today via Hells Headbangers, hear Cemetery Lust’s Rotting in Piss in its entirety exclusively HERE.

For nearly a decade now, Cemetery Lust have been perfecting their crazed craft, first with a handful of demos, and then two full-lengths for Hells Headbangers, 2012’s Screams of the Violated (which the label widely released in 2015) and 2014’s Orgies of Abomination. Across those two albums, these Portland sleaze-bangers put forth a form of thrash yet was fun yet filthy, and feral at every turn, spitting forth lyrical depravity amidst a sonic backdrop of ’80s German proto-black, San Francisco speed metal, and even South American proto-death. No big changes on LP#3, Rotting in Piss, nor should there be: this is vile and violent METAL, above all, which pisses on all party-thrash pretenders. If anything, Cemetery Lust sound even more manic here, with witching solos divebombing right and left across the album’s fierce ‘n’ full 33 minutes. Plus, they’ve found a production style that possesses a disarming amount of clarity while simultaneously making every dirty nook and cranny sound that much more depraved. If you didn’t know any better, you’d mistake Rotting in Piss for some lost deathrash classic from 1989!

With a slew of touring lined up for the summer and no limit to the depraved depths to which they’d sink, Cemetery Lust devilishly invite you to keep Rotting in Piss! Step forward to get fully soaked exclusively HERE

UK BLACKENED DEATH METAL HORDE HECATE ENTHRONED SIGNS WITH M-THEORY AUDIO

July 19, 2018 – Los Angeles, CA – The North West, UK-based blackened death metal sextet HECATE ENTHRONED – whose “brutal epic scornful metal” has earned extensive acclaim over the past two decades – have signed a worldwide recording contract with the American label M-Theory Audio. The group plans to release a new album – their sixth full-length, and first in five years – in January. More information about the recording will be revealed in the coming months.

Originally co-founded in Wales by guitarist Nigel Dennan in the mid-1990s, HECATE ENTHRONED is dedicated to delivering their own brand of evil metal with little regard to politics or the trends of popular demand. The group’s 1997 debut full-length, the Andy Sneap-produced “The Slaughter Of Innocence, A Requiem For The Mighty” (Blackend Records), was a seminal release in the then-burgeoning orchestral black metal movement. Since then, several full-lengths and EPs and numerous live performances have firmly established the band as one of extreme metal’s most important voices, a sentiment that the group’s forthcoming album will surely reinforce.

“It is with a great amount of pride that we announce this deal with M-Theory Audio,” says longtime bassist Dylan Hughes. “We feel M-Theory is the right label to take the band on to where we want to be, and we have total confidence in them to handle the new album as it deserves to be. Marco’ s reputation and character is second to none, and we look forward to working and developing together. Along with Extreme Management Group, we have a great team behind us and can honestly say that this marks a new era for HECATE ENTHRONED. We would like to thank all our fans for their patience during these months of uncertainty around the new album but be assured – the wait will be worth it.”

HECATE ENTHRONED will next perform live at the MetalDays festival in Slovenia on July 23 alongside the likes of Behemoth, Skeletonwitch and Carpathian Forest. The group has also announced a September 15 headlining show at London’s Black Heart. Advance tickets are on sale now for just £8. Additional tour dates will be announced in the near future.

HECATE ENTHRONED live:
July 23 – MetalDays Festival – Tolmin, Slovenia
Sept. 15 – Black Heart – London, United Kingdom

VREID were formed in 2004. The Norwegian metal brigade rose from the ashes of WINDIR after the tragic perishing of the “Sognametal” legends with the declared mission of exploring new musical paths.

The Norsemen proved true to their words and have so far delivered 7 albums and one DVD, which each received high praise from critics and fans alike. VREID chose a course of constant evolution that is marked by thematically denoted phases regarding their often historically inspired lyrics.

This became particularly clear with albums ‘I Krig’ (2007) and ‘Milorg’ (2009), which both revolved around concepts dealing with resistance and liberation of Norway during World War II. With their following three records, VREID returned to their Norse roots, especially on latest full-length, ‘Sólverv’ which received high critical acclaim in 2015.

VREID have hammered out their success partly by being a heavily touring band. The four-piece performed more than 500 shows in 25 countries so far. Their everlasting march to conquer new territories has led the Norwegians to headline tours in Europe, North America, Japan, and India.

VREID’s style is often referred to as black ‘n roll and Metal Hammer UK described their music as “a unique time travel in metal” as elements of 70’s rock, 80’s classic metal, and Norwegian black metal are all clearly audible.

Now with eighth album ‘Lifehunger’, black ‘n roll is back! With eight brand new tracks, VREID are ready for the next chapter.

PROPHECY PRODUCTIONS ANNOUNCES PARTNERSHIP WITH AMERICAN BLACK METAL LEGENDS XASTHUR

July 17, 2018 – Los Angeles, CA – From the very beginning, Xasthur has left a deep impact on the US black metal scene and evolved into becoming one of the genre’s most notorious and mysterious acts. Starting as a one-man band, Xasthur has always been noted for its extreme introversion and commitment to dwelling in the shadows. Since 1995, Xasthur has been releasing records that have been viewed as mandatory listening within the scene.

By the early 2010’s, Creator Scott Conner, formerly known as Malefic, wanted to reach beyond black metal. Today, Scott pursues a different artistic vision, which is free of scene boundaries, with a more resonating ideology; ‘doomgrass’. This self-coined term encompasses doom inspired vocals, disharmonic touches and a dark atmosphere while integrating instrumentation and complexity seen in folk genres such as blues and bluegrass. For this, Conner has changed his formula completely by opening up to a collaboration and establishing a three-person line up. The new compositions are dreamy, yet comprehensible pieces stripped down to three instruments crafting vast sonic landscapes. While Xasthur’s past creations embraced more traditional black metal themes, Conner now has abandoned the genre completely, and uses his lyrics to tackle abysmal and explicit realism.

In the pursuit of bringing their sound to new audiences, Xasthur’s signing with Prophecy Productions’ ever-expanding roster is the next logical step. Prophecy will launch this partnership with a new, limited edition EP that functions as an exclusive preview of Xasthur’s upcoming full length, building on his new doomgrass style. The EP, Aestas Pretium MXVIII, will be sold exclusively on his forthcoming, extensive US tour – 30 dates, starting on July 21st, accompanying Six Organs of Admittance and Wino. In 2018, Xasthur is full of energy and ready to expand.

Xasthur is:
Scott Conner – guitar, bass, music, lyrics
Chris Hernandez – guitar, bass, vocals
Rachel Roomian – bass

Chilean black metal sorcerers PYREFICATIVM premiere new track

Today, Chilean black metal sorcerers Pyreficativm premiere the new track “Emanations From the Drakonian Vessel” . The track hails from the band’s bold ‘n’ visionary debut album, संसार का पथ, set for international release on August 11th via Living Temple Records. Hear Pyreficativm’s “Emanations From the Drakonian Vessel” in its entirety exclusively HERE.

An mesmerizingly vast and deliriously dense work, Pyreficativm’s संसार का पथ plunges the listener deeply into the Beyond – and then beyond even that. Totaling nine tracks in 76 time-evaporating minutes, this is black metal at its most ceremonial, stripped of ornamental excess yet suffused with a supernatural essence, of ritualism begetting transcendence, of sound utilized as a living weapon born of blood and steel, fire and brimstone. For those who dwell within the depths of the underground and heard Pyreficativm’s two earlier demos, where the rawness was almost otherworldly, संसार का पथ casts the aesthetic of sole visionary Melek R. N. in a starker, more focused light, bringing forth a clarity that sacrifices none of the swirling sting on which he originally made his name. Here, the stretched-to-infinity canvas on which he paints is brushed with bold strokes, invoking a fever-dreaming sense of wonder and mania, as nebulous fog and vibrations from the abyss swirl into recognition to create an austere construction that ensnares the listener’s very subconscious. It is very easy to get literally lost in Pyreficativm’s संसार का पथ , but the question remains: why would you want to return?

A statement from Melek R. N. reads: “I raise front of the great mysteries greater, spirits of the life and death. On this sacred night of blood together to you oneiric veil, the key to the eternal dream of the Dragon I invoke you…

“This intricate work within this temple crowned Pyreficativm, संसार का पथ is a vehicle and ritualistic vessel. To express the sacred words and prayers of the ancient mysteries… the hidden faculty of the intellectual Man in this Era of iron, lets you embraces the true skin of the mystical arts. Dreaming freely through the intricate labyrinth of the consciousness. Experience exalted in the higher planes and sacred cosmic notes are the real material to examine various atavistic passages of this science and art. Through this new manifestation, this temple crowned with the internal fire of Man, speak directly to the inner void, a supra-mundane states, the connections between the Eastern esotericism and the Al-chemy of the higher. Exposes intrincate examinations within the Gnostisism and Eastern esotericism. Amrita 181.”

EOSPHOROS set release date for IRON BONEHEAD debut, reveal first track

Today, Iron Bonehead Productions sets October 12th as the international release date for Eosphoros’ striking debut album, Eosphoros, on CD and vinyl LP formats.

Eosphoros hail from Portland, Oregon and formed in 2016. Although an otherwise-new entity, the band houses a wealth of experience in the thriving Pacific Northwest underground, including as they do ex-members of Shroud of the Heretic, Triumvir Foul, and Shrine of the Serpent. Whilst retaining suitably comparable levels of griminess of the aforementioned, as Eosphoros, the power-trio exude a surging ‘n’ spectral sort of mysticism, grounded in the ancient black metal of the 1990s (particularly in southern Europe) but wholly brimming with the esotericism that’s brought the Pacific Northwest BM scene to international attention.

Comprising six epic-length songs in a sinuous 46 minutes, Eosphoros is the epitome of album-length journey. With wanderlust as their only guide, Eosphoros dig deep and dredge forth a feral intensity that forever coils, like the mighty Ouroboros, whipping forth delirium and diabolism in equal measure. But, for however hysteric their attack may be, the band never sacrifice dynamics, offering just as much light as shade; not for nothing are they guided by the illuminating light of Lucifer. Those component tracks – “Promethean Fire,” “Dross,” “Trance of Annihilation,” “Feral Heart,” “Solitude,” and “Sylvan Apotheosis” – are all as aptly titled as the next, evoking the same illumination, the same wanderlust unto delirium, that has guided Eosphoros from the beginning…only now, those fires burn brighter than ever.

Eosphoros light a unique torch with their self-titled album: will you take that torch, or get burned? Feel the first flame with the new track “Feral Heart” HERE.

Cover and tracklisting are as follows:

Tracklisting for Eosphoros’ Eosphoros
1. Promethean Fire
2. Dross
3. Trance of Annihilation
4. Feral Heart
5. Solitude
6. Sylvan Apotheosis

BONEHUNTER set release date for new HELLS HEADBANGERS album

Today, Hells Headbangers sets September 28th as the international release date for Bonehunter’s highly anticipated third album, Children of the Atom, on CD, vinyl LP, and cassette tape formats.

If Bonehunter’s debut album, Evil Triumphs Again, became the first and last word on how to do Bathory worship – and becoming something of a mini-classic in the process, especially after their much-talked-about performance at Hells Headbangers’ Hells Headbash 2 in 2015 – and last year’s Sexual Panic Human Machine became the shocking sound of the band asserting their own identity with equally compelling results, then Children of the Atom is Bonehunter hitting a fucking fever pitch. It would not be untruthful to say that Children of the Atom is the perfect synthesis of Bonehunter’s first two albums: the dungeon-bred grit of the debut meeting the streamlined cruise of LP#2, without the faintest hint of self-consciousness nor repetitiousness. But – and this is absolutely crucial – the devilish charisma and unfuckwithable confidence with which the band roll out each anthem after another here bespeaks something else together. Simply, Children of the Atom is the new (and very now) sound of Bonehunter breaking into the bigtime.

After the stage-setting “Initiate the Sequence” intro, Children of the Atom literally EXPLODES from the speakers. Charging hard like the veritable post-apocalyptic Road Warriors that they are, Bonehunter truly make their self-proclaimed “Devil Metal Punk” a subgenre unto itself here. It’s one of those sounds that’s immediately familiar – again, earliest Bathory will always loom large – but with a wealth of era- and globe-spanning influences all freely fed into their engine, from ’80s Japanese metalpunk to the deepest South American blackthrash, what emerges on Children of the Atom is indeed a mutation like no other. And it’s absolutely ADDICTING: hooks upon hooks are doled out effortlessly, inciting possessed headbanging and air-guitaring, and all with a breathless abandon that’s a wild wonder to behold. Additionally, Bonehunter’s rhythmic arsenal has kicked it up a notch or five, as well, hitting speeds previously unapproachable for the band but here delivered with authority and elan. Not to mention that the production’s been roughened up again, bloody raw but belying a clarity of intent.

Featuring unforgettable cover art courtesy of the master Joe Petagno, Children of the Atom is the ultimate nuclear assault from Bonehunter! A statement from the band reads: “We envisioned an album that sounded like songs written by the synthetically-revived cadavers of Chris Witchhunter, HIDE, and Petrus Steele after blasting Sacrilege, Atomkraft, and Immortal in a military bunker through the heart of a nuclear winter. Läjä Äijälä, frontman of the infamous hardcore act Terveet Kädet, gave birth to the intro track ‘Initiate the Sequence.’ The only man who could be trusted to handle the album cover for Children of the Atom was the legendary artist behind Motörhead’s Snaggletooth, Joe Petagno. Hails to Hells Headbangers for helping to spread our noise, filth, and fury and to Läjä and Joe for their contributions! This is the ultimate Bonehunter album – turn up the evil!”

In the meantime, hear the new track “The Reek of Reaper’s Scythe” HERE

Additionally, Bonehunter will be joining labelmates Midnight on a North American tour later this year, in support of Children of the Atom; dates will be revealed in due time.

Cover and tracklisting are as follows:

Tracklisting for Bonehunter’s Children of the Atom
1. Initiate the Sequence
2. Demonic Nuclear Armament
3. Sex Messiah Android
4. Children of the Atom
5. The Reek of Reaper’s Scythe

WITCH KING set release date for BLOOD HARVEST debut, reveal first track

Today, Blood Harvest Records and Helter Skelter Productions set September 14th as the international release date for Witch King’s highly anticipated debut album, Voice of the Ossuary, on CD and vinyl LP formats.

Hailing from Rhode Island, Witch King have been a prolific force in the American black/death underground. Since 2008, this power-trio have been patiently perfect their craft over a slew of demos, an EP, and a split album with the considerable likes of Bestial Mockery, Obeisance, and Manticore. The Witch King aesthetic has been firm from the beginning, but with Voice of the Ossuary, they take it to the darkest and most disgusting depths.

Wasting no time whatsoever – no ceremony, no hope, no fun – Witch King blast into Voice of the Ossuary with primeval abandon. Theirs is an ancient sound, bucking nowadays trends, and returning to the foul recesses of classic blackgrind, informed by early Blood, Archgoat, Naked Whipper, and of course, the almighty Blasphemy. But whereas so much parallel “bestial metal” crams in non-sequitur riffs and transitions – or simply forgets them altogether, just plowing through one riff monochromatically – Witch King actually possess songwriting, and unfurl one flowing fountain of filth after another. These songs gnaw at your very being, but they remain in the subconscious long after play has commenced. And that’s not to mention the pure physicality of Voice of the Ossuary: all muscle, no fat, total 3D crush.

Hark! Hear the Voice of the Ossuary, for it is Witch King’s, and there’s nothing but absolute dread and doom on the horizon… Hear for yourself with the new track “Savage Conquest Upon Holy Lands” HERE

Cover and tracklisting are as follows:

Tracklisting for Witch King’s Voice of the Ossuary
1. Rejection Of The Light
2. Void Emissary
3. Apocalypse Tribe
4. Voice Of The Ossuary
5. Savage Conquest Upon Holy Lands
