ENSNARED reveal first track from new INVICTUS / DARK DESCENT album due next year

Following on stylistically from 2017’s critically acclaimed Dysangelium debut, Inimicus Generis Humani is a dark, dense, uncomfortable, and intense listen over its 40-minute duration. It’s undeniably Ensnared, but undeniably more.

Benighted enter studio for new album!

Extreme French metal outfit  BENIGHTED have entered the studio for the recordings of their brand new album “Obscene Repressed” which will be released via Season of Mist in 2020. Drummer Kevin Paradis has kicked off the drum recordings last weekend at the Kohlekeller Sudio in Germany.

Vocalist Julien Truchan commented: “Fellows, it’s about time to give birth to the very twisted and violent little brother that ‘Necrobreed’ deserves. We are back to the Kohlekeller Studio (Powerwolf, Aborted, Cremator) in Germany and if some of you thought that it would be difficult to go even further in brutality and insanity than Necrobreed, we are impatient for you to throw an ear on this new piece of our guts… Our humanoid machine Kevin Paradis started yesterday recording the drums for the upcoming album called ‘Obscene Repressed’ and we can’t wait to deliver you the most intense stuff we’ve ever made!”

Julien continues:
“This concept-album is about the story of a schizophrenic young man, with a cleft palate and serious oedipal issues that lead him to think and do extremely delusional things that you will discover among the songs… Hope you will enjoy this new beautiful love story! Ah ah! Stay sick, my friends!””

The new album is scheduled for release in 2020 via Season of Mist

Madness reigns! BENIGHTED deliver the radical soundtrack to these savage times.

BENIGHTED were spawned by members from French Death and Black metal bands DISHUMANIZED, DARKNESS FIRE, and OSGILIATH, who joined forces in 1998 for a more brutal, heavy and modern way of expression. When their first self-produced and self-titled full-length hit the streets in 2000, it immediately had a strong impact. This turned a side-project into a main act. A fast-growing fan base was built by a string of acclaimed albums: ‘Psychose’ (2002), ‘Insane Cephalic Production’ (2004), ‘Identisick’ (2006), and ‘Icon’ (2007) were all enthusiastically received. With their latest full-length ‘Necrobreed’, the French sidestepped the steadily growing complexity of their previous albums ‘Asylum Cave’ (2011) and ‘Carnivore Sublime’ (2014) by recalibrating their sound along their roots. ‘Necrobreed’ came based on a theme revolving around the abysmal potential of the human psyche.

On the live front, BENIGHTED quickly started to capture audiences with sweat driver performances that bulldozer any resistance mercilessly aside. This allowed the French to climb up the ladder fast and soon came invitations to all major European festivals including Neurotic Death Fest, Hellfest, Wacken, Brutal Assault, Summer Breeze, and Inferno Festival among many more.

After their 20th anniversary, it was time for BENIGHTED to capture the live madness on ‘Dogs Always Bite Harder Than Their Master’ which not only contains three brand new tracks and the brutal  AT THE GATES cover of ‘Slaughter Of The Soul’, but also live recordings with guest musicians such as Sven Decaluwé (ABORTED), Nikita Kamprad (DER WEG EINER FREIHEIT), Arno (BLACK BOMB A), Niklas Kvarforth (SHINING) and Ben Wright (UFATHOMABLE RUINATION).

‘Dogs Always Bite Harder Than Their Master’ gives yet another extreme musical voice to the madness lurking within!

CANNABIS CORPSE release second new track of ‘Nug So Vile’

Stoner death metal icons CANNABIS CORPSE are now releasing the second new track, taken from their upcoming album ‘Nug So Vile’, which will be released on November 1, 2019. The new offerin ‘Blunt Force Domain’ is now streaming
Phil Hall comments on the track: “Hey stoners! Here is another pot-provoking jam from the forthcoming album “Nug So Vile”. Just a quick lyric video to satisfy anyone jonezing for some weed metal. Stay tuned though! We just finished shooting an amazing video with My Good Eye Visuals that should be finished in the next couple weeks! “
CANNABIS CORPSE have previously revealed the artwork and track-list of ‘Nug So Vile’, which can both be viewed below.
Tracklist:

Bonus track:

CANNABIS CORPSE’s latest strain of weed-metal is another potent dose of bong ripping brutality laced with tasty riffs, vicious drumming, and powerful THC. With a title inspired by CRYPTOPSY’s seminal album, ‘Nug So Vile’ is a horrifying look into the mind of a hardcore marijuana abuser with the demented fantasies of a reefer addict fully on display. The record is more than just a mere follow up to 2017’s ‘Left Hand Pass’, but rather serves as a solid companion piece, seamlessly picking up right where the band left off.

Sharing a passion for marijuana and death metal, brothers Phil ‘Landphil’ Hall (MUNICIPAL WASTE, IRON REAGAN) and Josh ‘Hallhammer’ Hall formed CANNABIS CORPSE in 2006 in Richmond, VA as a loving homage to the genre’s forefathers. The brothers decided from the start to separate themselves from the pack by infusing a green sense of humour into their horror-inspired lyrics. Meanwhile, it has become a badge of honour for many of the Halls’ idols to have one of their titles parodied by the Richmond outfit.

Now, CANNABIS CORPSE has returned as a three-piece and despite slimming the line-up down since ‘Left Hand Pass’, ‘Nug So Vile’ still sounds as full and thick as ever, solidifying their place among death metal’s elite. So, roll a blunt, grab a neckbrace, and prepare yourself for another nasty assault from the kings of weed metal.

ORTHODOXY set release date for THE SINISTER FLAME debut, reveal first track – includes DOMAINS member

On October 31st internationally, The Sinister Flame is proud to present Orthodoxy‘s highly anticipated debut album, Novus Lux Dominus, on CD, vinyl LP, and cassette tape formats.

A so-far shadowy entity, Orthodoxy hail from Spain and formed sometime during the past decade. In 2015, the band’s first demo, Shaarimoth, burst forth from the womb, displaying a band fully, frighteningly formed. Indeed, this collective were no mere youngsters; the band’s founder hails from well-respected cult Domains, also a part of The Sinister Flame‘s very selective cabal. However, that demo was but a mere taste of the salacious, supernatural slime to follow…

At last, it arrives in full-length form, bearing the title Novus Lux Dominus. Howling from a black void, Orthodoxy arrogantly stride forward with far more focus and utterly gutted execution. No more but certainly no less, Novus Lux Dominus is all-caps DEATH METAL – pure and proud, dark and sinister, sidestepping all the muddled miscegenation of nowadays “death metal” – and duly delivers a nine-song/44-minute journey below the bowels of the Beyond. Magickal in every sense, Novus Lux Dominus weaves an alternately hypnotic and disruptive spell, beckoning the listener ever deeper into their devastating energies, only to flay both body and soul with a sadism borne of incomparable darkness. Thusly, Orthodoxy create a Metal of Death that’s haunting and crushing in equal measure. A cursory reading of some of the album’s component song titles – “Flame of Primordial Essence,” “Residues of an Obsolete Trance,” and “Voluptuous Death” among them – should more than spell out the righteous diabolism that awaits…

Strident, almost martial, Orthodoxy‘s Novus Lux Dominus heralds a new era of ageless darkness. Step forward to that New Era with the new track “Flame of Primordial Essence” here:
Cover and tracklisting are as follows:
Tracklisting for Orthodoxy’s Novus Lux Dominus
1. Evocative Darkness
2. Key to Victory

5. Eerie Presence

Seven long years after the release of their sophomore album, ContragenesisIgnivomous return with their third full-length, Hieroglossia,unveiling eight tracks of organic, primal death metal — the kind the band has become synonymous with in its 13-year existence within the death metal underground.

Borne out of the members’ desire to see a resurgence of a heavier, more dissonant style of death metal, Ignivomous were among the first wave of bands to reignite interest in the genre in the first decade of this century. Hieroglossia preserves the core membership of the band present throughout its tenure — Sean Hinds (guitar), Chris Broadway (drums), and Jael Edwards (vocals) — and presents the recording debut of Lewis Fischer on guitar (Altars) and Chris Jordon (Inverloch, Eskhaton) on bass, both of whom have cemented the band’s live assault for the previous few years in a campaign of high-profile shows in their native Australia. This lineup in its current form has secured and built upon the band’s unrelentingly legacy, oozing raw, sinister death metal pushed a step further into the void, creating an album which synthesizes the band’s influences with a definitive and individual vision. While projecting a murky and atmospheric take on the death metal template, Heiroglossia avoids sacrificing the primacy of the riff for reverb-drenched formlessness or songwriting in favor of dissonance for its own sake.

Thematically, Heiroglossia continues Ignivomous’ investigation into topics of Philosophical pessimism, influenced by the works of Thomas Ligotti and E.M. Cioran, and Gnostic concepts of the fallen and hostile nature of the material world, presented throughout with a literary sensibility which should be accustomed to those familiar with their previous output.

Pending the general issue of the album on vinyl and CD via Nuclear War Now!, a strictly limited tour edition digipack version of the album will be available for purchase during the above-mentioned tour. In the meantime, hear the brand-new track “Thalassophobia” here:

UNAUSSPRECHLICHEN KULTEN set release date for new IRON BONEHEAD album, reveal first track

Iron Bonehead Productions sets October 18th as the international release date for Unaussprechlichen Kulten‘s highly anticipated fifth album, Teufelsbücher, on CD and vinyl LP formats. Also on the day of release shall Iron Bonehead reissue the band’s cult second album, 2008’s People of the Monolith, on vinyl LP format as well as a special compilation of their 7″ EPs and their live performance at last year’s inaugural Never Surrender Fest, curated by Iron Bonehead and Nuclear War Now!

For 20 years now, Unaussprechlichen Kulten have built a commanding canon of eldritch death metal DARKNESS. From their early demos to later splits and especially their preceding four full-lengths – not least of which, 2014’s Baphomet Pan Shub-Niggurath and 2017’s Keziah Lilith Medea (Chapter X), both released by Iron Bonehead to widespread critical acclaim – this Chilean cult have explored the furthest reaches of primordial dread and ancient mysticism, all through pure ‘n’ authentic Metal of Death. And now, a whole two decades after their formation, Unaussprechlichen Kulten continue to push themselves toward the beyond with the mesmerizing Teufelsbücher.

Although one can easily say that Teufelsbücher encompasses the signature Unaussprechlichen Kulten aesthetic – songwriting that slithers through the slime with a preternatural grace, execution that’s barbaric and crusted in mud and blood, production that plumbs the foulest ends of the sonic spectrum – uniquely, this fathomless fifth full-length is arguably the band’s densest and most dissonant work to date. Unleashing morbid fascination regarding superstition and witchcraft, Unaussprechlichen Kulten once again suffuse their increasingly angular ruminations with a thoroughly researched thematic grounding.

Teufelsbücher – literally, “The books of the Devil,” written in German – had their pinnacle since the end of Luther’s existence in 1545, until 1604. During that consolidation period of the amendment, with 39 original copies, they are in great deal the precursors from the great house of witches. The Devil acquires strength step by step, which will reach its zenith in the 16th and 17th centuries when Europe granted an enormous attention to the Devil. The Teufelsbücher sentenced sharply that every mortal committing a sin would inevitably fall under the powers of the lord of Hell. Written with the purpose of denouncing vices and sins back then, theologists and inquisitors wanted to contribute on this particular fight against evil writing treaties where nature, knowledge, cunning, and the power of Satan were questioned, and where means were established to fight spells, omens, charms, vane healers, the notorious art, etc. Through hundreds of pages, prodigious, fantastic, wonderful, and scary stories were included, as well. However, along with revealing their own perversion finally instead of warning men, they ended up causing fascination and unleashing morbid fascination regarding superstition and witchcraft.

With this quite-literally medieval foundation firmly in place, Unaussprechlichen Kulten proceed to plow through 42 minutes of exceptionally epic and challenging territory. Totaling six stout labyrinths of song, Teufelsbücher twists and turns in diabolically obscene / obscenely diabolical ways, retaining immediacy and urgency despite those daunting song lengths. No less feral and frightening than before, Unaussprechlichen Kulten bend the listener’s mind (and body) to their unholy will, slipstreaming with a devilishly nuanced grace paradoxically at odds with their blunt-force trauma. Of course, hallucinogenic tension reaches a fever pitch here on Teufelsbücher, as the powerless listener pleads for sweet release…only to find ever-more-treacherous territory, each barb more gnarled than the last.

Unaussprechlichen Kulten have built a nigh-unchallenged canon that takes all the urgency ‘n’ ugliness of classic death metal and upends it into the realm of high art. When, this late into their career, they could easily coast into crowd-pleasing catchiness, these revered Chileans take the path less travelled and speak ever stranger tongues: verily, Teufelsbücher.

Begin speaking their dense, dissonant language with the new track “Cranquiluria” here:
Cover and tracklisting are as follows:
Tracklisting for Unaussprechlichen Kulten’s Teufelsbücher
1. The Evil Out of Control
2. Keziah Lilith Medea
3. Cranquiluria
4. A Search and an Evocation
5. Flapping Membraneous Wings
6. Necromancy and Torment

NEX CARNIS set release date for new BLOOD HARVEST EP

Today, Blood Harvest Records sets September 27th as the international release date for a brand-new EP from Nex CarnisBlack Eternity, on 7″ vinyl format.

Hailing from Iran and with an album and demo to their name, Nex Carnis are a steadily rising force, wisely parceling out their releases – Black Eternity makes three total since 2012 – and delivering quality over quantity every step of the way. This new two-song 7″ is no different, and shows that Nex Carnis are effortlessly making their Metal of Death craft that much more powerful and provocative. Utterly dark and disgusting, hammering and dizzying in equal measure, Black Eternity indeed sounds much like its title and suitably drags the listener down into labyrinth after labyrinth of untold horror. And yet, for however vile ‘n’ virulent the band’s brand of death metal may be, there’s a strangely hummable magick to it that further elevates Nex Carnis‘ classicism. Behold Black Eternity and begin drowning in DEATH! Drums on this EP were recorded by Alvaro Sequeida (Occidens, Melektaus, Godagainst).

ABYSMALIST set release date for debut CALIGARI demo, reveal first track

Today, Caligari Records sets August 23rd as the international release date for Abysmalist‘s striking debut demo, Reflections of Horror, on cassette tape format.

Abysmalist was formed by two veterans of the Bay Area scene whose collective experience in various punk, metal, and hardcore bands is prolific, to say the very least: Federico Davila, who’s played in Unurnment, Primal Rite, Permanent Ruin, and DeadEyedStare among others; and Jeremy Meier from Cøndition, Sanctum, Primal Rite, Scalped, Yadokai, Ritual Control, Effluxus, etc. They are currently based in Sacramento, California, and Reflections of Horror is their first public recording as Abysmalist.

Despite being an essentially “new” band, Abysmalist‘s crushing ruminations are heavily influenced by Bolt Thrower, Obituary, and other “pre-blastbeat” death metal. It’s a comfortingly familiar and enduringly classic sound, but done with the conviction of true acolytes. And not for nothing is the demo titled Reflections of Horror: its subject matter and lyrics are inspired by the writings of Clive Barker, Patrick Süskind, and “romantic” horror/fabulism in general, with its four component songs – “Lascivious Rapture,” “Black Lacquer,” “The Engineer,” and “Chain Ripper” – as unsettlingly titled as the next, with haunting touches of clean guitar occasionally applied to heighten that supernatural atmosphere.

Suitably wrapped in sweaty ‘n’ slimy analog, Abysmalist‘s Reflections of Horror is 18 minutes of eldritch lurch ‘n’ crunch, and suggestive of more gutted glories to come. Partake in the first gutted glory with the new, aforementioned track “Black Lacquer” here:

Beyond Creation release new video ‘The Afterlife’

BEYOND CREATION are now premiering their brand new live video for the track ‘The Afterlife’, which is taken from the band’s latest album ‘Algorythm’.
The Canadian masters of progressive technical death metal are streaming their new offering here:

We shot this during the ‘Algorythm’ album release show, on December 8th 2018, at Le National in Montreal. There are reasons why most metal bands will agree that Montreal is one of their favorite stops on North American tours ; the energy, the fans, the crew and the venues themselves make up for one particularly unique vibe, and this video perfectly captures that! We are proud of our hometown and the impact it has been having on the metal scene! Huge thanks to everyone who came out that night and made it such an unforgettable one! Stay tuned, we have more content to share from this gig! Enjoy, share, like and subscribe! Peace!”

Feel the onrush of sweeping arpeggios, crushing waves of fretless bass, complex rhythmical patterns and erupting scales peppered with jazzy feeling and masterful execution under the mark of ‘Algorythm’, which names the third full-length of BEYOND CREATION.

The French part of Canada is home to a vibrant culture of technical Death Metal fostered by outstanding acts such as GORGUTS, CRYPTOPSY, MARTYR, and NEURAXIS. This illustrious family tree has produced many sprouts in the past, yet none of them are as brilliant as Quebec’s amazing scion: BEYOND CREATION!

BEYOND CREATION saw the light of day in 2005 in Montreal, Canada but it wasn’t until 2010 that the band was ready to hit the stage with their original line-up consisting of Simon Girard, Kevin Chatré, Guyot Bégin-Benoît and Dominic ‘Forest’ Lapointe. A year later, the band self-released their debut full-length album ‘The Aura’ (2011), which quickly became a highlight in the genre. Since then, BEYOND CREATION has been known as the progressive, innovative and exciting new metal sound of their homeland, Quebec.

In late 2012, the band had Philippe Boucher (Ex-FIRST FRAGMENT, INCADESCENSE, CHTHE’ILIST, DÉCOMBRES) take Guyot’s place on drums and things started moving at a faster pace in 2013, when they joined Season of Mist, re-releasing ‘The Aura’ and touring North America and Japan. In 2014, BEYOND CREATION released their second masterpiece ‘Earthborn Evolution‘.

After the addition of Hugo Doyon-Karout (BROUGHT BY PAIN, EQUIPOISE, CONFLUX) on bass, the band focused on touring as much as possible on the ‘Earthborn Evolution’ album cycle compiling 3 North American tours, 3 European tours, countless shows in Canada, appearances in Mexico, Colombia and Dubaï, sharing the stage with heavy weights like ARCH ENEMY, HATE ETERNAL, MISERY INDEX, DYING FETUS, PSYCROPTIC and OBSCURA. They also took part in multiple large-scale music festivals such as Hellfest (FR), 70 000 Tons of Metal (US), UK Tech-Fest, Montebello Rockfest (CA), Heavy MTL (CA) and Damnation Fest (UK).

In 2018, BEYOND CREATION recorded their highly-anticipated third album ‘Algorythm’ at The Grid Studio in home land Canada, which is set for release on October 12th, 2018. With the new album, BEYOND CREATION delivers a ferocious blend of technicality, melody, and brutality aided by fang-filled growls, which is interwoven with beautiful progressive interludes. Prepare for the lightning evolution of the progressive technical death metal revolution!
