Glorior Belli embark on European tour

GLORIOR BELLI are about to embark on a short first string of dates in France, Germany, and Switzerland in support of their new album, ‘The Apostates’ with a show at the Coq d’Or in the Swiss town of Olten tomorrow, April 18th.

GLORIOR BELLI commented: “What could be better than seeing the release of a new album? Playing it live and loud! Introducing a brand new line-up on stage, we will be headlining the last four dates of the “Apricity European Tour” joining forces with ATRA VETOSUS (AU), PERENNIAL ISOLATION (ES), and DRAWN INTO DESCENT (BE) before coming home to Paris for an exclusive show with Greek masters of darkness HAIL SPIRIT NOIR. This is a journey as much as it is an invitation, so load up your haversack and hit the dusty road!”

For those who believe in deities and religion, an apostate is often far more despised and hated than followers of other creeds. The Greek word denotes a person who falls off and demonstrates that it is possible to leave the old faith behind to boldly go new ways and therefore shatters the image that any belief carries an undeniable ultimate truth. This defiant act is quite rightly identified as a threat to organised religion as others might follow the example and therefore was and is severely punished by excommunication or even death especially by monotheistic fanatics.

GLORIOR BELLI deliberately pierce this religious taboo with the title of their forthcoming seventh full-length, ‘The Apostates’, which should be understood as programmatic on many levels. Musically the French continue to grow out of their black metal roots, but each new song branches further outside the confines of stylistic orthodoxy. From the tell-tale opening “Sui Generis” to the unashamed heavy rock imbued title-track, GLORIOR BELLI obviously do not conform or bow down to any set of “rules” some self-proclaimed genre judges might try to impose.

GLORIOR BELLI emerged from the anger-ridden suburbs of Paris in December 2002. Their first statement of existence was a symbolic demo entitled ‘Evil Archaic Order’, which was released in June 2004.

From the raging, raw ferocity of their 2005 debut, ‘Ô Laudate Dominvs’ to their much praised 2007 release, ‘Manifesting the Raging Beast’ and further on to ‘Meet Us at the Southern Sign’ (2009), the French stalwarts steadily recalibrated their compass, moving exponentially forward towards the grim magnificence to be found on their fourth full-length, ‘The Great Southern Darkness’ (2011).

With a new deal under their belts, GLORIOR BELLI released fifth album ‘Gators Rumble, Chaos Unfurls’ in autumn 2013. This record has been described as a captivating mix of bluesy, heavy grooves, and some thickly distorting sludge. Yet their sixth opus, ‘Sundown’ (2016) came with another twist by redefining darkness again on the band’s own terms.

GLORIOR BELLI have always stayed true to the diabolical principles of black metal while carefully avoiding its most mind-numbing clichés. The band’s lyrics and themes reveal a recurrent penchant for rebellion and poetry.

With ‘The Apostates’, GLORIOR BELLI make a bold musical statement that reconciles the sound and tradition of black metal with a thirst for individualism and innovation. Don’t take these words on blind faith, listen for yourself!

GLORIOR BELLI: French Black Metal Juggernauts To Reissue Debut Album “Ô Laudate Dominvs”

Gallic black metal renegades GLORIOR BELLI are proud to announce the long-overdue analog-only repressing of their ferociously raw debut album, Ô Laudate Dominvs, due out June 1 via Ascension Monuments Media.

Pre-order the orthodox black metal magick AT THIS LOCATION.

Originally recorded in 2004 at Hybreed Studios in France and released via Eerie Art Records in 2005, Ô Laudate Dominvs is a brutal piece of satanic art, with a personal and strong identity attached to the then-newly founded war machine. Thundering and violent drum patterns, coupled with guitars squealing like freezing razors and profound bass pulsing straight from Hell, all backed by howling vocals that vomit blood, blasphemies and other extremities in a 30-plus-minute sonic bludgeoning akin to Watain, Antaeus and Deathspell Omega. Cover artwork was handled by the prolific Daniel Valencia of Fenomeno Design (Blut Aus Nord, Gloria Diaboli).

GLORIOR BELLI crept out from the temperamental suburbs of Paris in December 2002. What started as a notorious duo soon became a remarkable Beast, acting as a beacon for everyone looking to free themselves of the influence of the Demiurge.

Says Billy “Infestvvs” Bayou:
“Some things in life you don’t forget, whether they are traumatic events or the happiest times. Glorior Belli has been my own creature for a little over 15 years, and a lot can happen in such a while. In fact, it feels like an eternity today when I look back. What could possibly celebrate this 15th year anniversary better than a special release that consists of Glorior Belli’s most essential records, starting now with the raging, raw ferocity of 2005’s debut Ô Laudate Dominvs!”

“Glorior Belli has been steadily resetting its compass since then, creeping exponentially towards the grimy magnificence to be found on their upcoming new record, The Apostates, which will be released April 6 via French label Season of Mist.

“This long awaited reissue of the debut deserves only the best quality, thus we have chosen to work with a very promising new Southern California-based label Ascension Monuments Media for a vinyl & cassette ‘analog assault.’

“On a side note, Glorior Belli’s twin project, OBSCURUS ADVOCAM, which took a life of its own back in 2007 with the band’s only album released on CD via now-defunct Battle Kommand Records, will be reissued on vinyl & cassette as well after being out of print for 7+ years!”

Over the course of four full-lengths, GLORIOR BELLI has progressively developed to become a more sophisticated musical entity, while conversely exploring the devolution of black metal’s heritage. With a captivating mix of bluesy, heavy stoner grooves, doom-laden lyricism, retro prog-rock flourishes and some thickly distorting sludge, the band has reaffirmed the diabolical principles of black metal while avoiding its most mind-numbing clichés.

Lyrics and themes explored over the years reveal a sincere inclination for rebelism and developed sense of poetry. The experience would be described as an intriguing and almost hypnotic journey through dark deserts and evil fields with Lucifer as personal guide.
