MAVORIM set release date for new PURITY THROUGH FIRE album, reveal first track

Today, Purity ThroughFire sets December 25th as the international release date for Mavorim‘s highly anticipated fifth album, In Omnia Paratus, on CD, A5 digipack, double-LP vinyl, and cassette tape formats.

By now, the name Mavorim should be more than familiar to those who follow the crimes of Purity ThroughFire. Since the band’s formation in 2014, mainman Baptist has restlessly and relentlessly pursued his stark, austere style of black metal, resulting in four full-lengths and seven other shorter-length works. In just a decade, Mavorim have come to define – and influence – the new breed of German black metal that hearkens back to the old guard: Teutonic to the bone, harsh and harrowing yet heralding triumph.

Following a busy 2023 – the release of fourth album Ab Amitia Pulsae, plus Purity ThroughFire unearthed four full-length demos dating back to 2017, all of which directly preceded their Silent Leges Inter Arma debut album – Mavorim return with In Omnia Paratus. Picking up where its predecessor left off – Baptist’s subtle-yet-concerted integration of keyboards and other synth sounds, which altogether added an exceptionally dynamic contour to otherwise-straightforward aggression – In Omnia Paratus sees a stridently cleaner, more martial Mavorim. It’s a tradeoff that works in spades: the usually quick-galloping pace feels even more breathless and bravado-laden, and the synths swirl with even-more-magickal mysticism, still very much a secondary element but a crucial one nevertheless. As such, Baptist’s riffing feels fierier and airier simultaneously, a paradoxically ice-cold swoosh of heated hatred; the sharp ‘n’ taut drumming underpinning it all keeps a comparable clarity, making this one of the nastiest “clean” black metal records around. Which is all to say that Mavorim‘s content is consistent, righteously and remarkably so, even if the form becomes more refined. And it all comes to a dramatic climax in ten-minute closer “der letzten Sonne Untergang,” which is not to be missed. Bavaria über alles!

MAVORIM set release date for new PURITY THROUGH FIRE album, reveal first track

Today, Purity Through Fire announces April 22nd as the international release date for Mavorim‘s highly anticipated fourth album, Ab Amitia Pulsae, on CD, A5 digipack, and vinyl LP formats.

By now, the name Mavorim should be more than familiar to those who follow the crimes of Purity Through Fire. Since the band’s formation in 2014, mainman Baptist has restlessly and relentlessly pursued his stark, austere style of black metal, resulting in three full-lengths and seven other shorter-length works. Collectively, Mavorim have quickly come to define the new breed of German black metal that hearkens back to the old guard: Teutonic to the bone, harsh and harrowing yet heralding triumph.

And so the battle wages on with Mavorim‘s fourth album, Ab Amitia Pulsae. Immediately and dramatically, this is classic Mavorim – charging hard onto the battlefield, bloody swords raised, rough-yet-rousing melodicism to the fore, with Baptist’s gruff, exhortative throat leading the charge – but as Ab Amitia Pulsae plays on, new vistas of their signature sound are revealed. While still qualitatively a black metal record, Mavorim‘s fourth album displays deft layering of sounds, particularly Baptist’s subtle-yet-concerted integration of keyboards and other synth sounds, altogether adding an exceptionally dynamic contour to otherwise-straightforward aggression. Further, his guitar leads display a much wider swath of feeling as well as texture, each song seemingly featuring something quite new in the greater Mavorim dialect, while drumming co-conspirator Valfor occasionally add his choral voices to poignant effect. And it’s gripping and urgent all the way through to the 53-minute album’s end…again and again and again.

At times tragic, at times folkloric, melancholy giving way to bloodlust, Ab Amitia Pulsae proves once again that Mavorim are uniquely adept at fully coloring within the lines of black metal with the boldest and bravest hues.

Behold the hues of the brand-new track “Ein Zerrbild aller Leiden” here:

EISENKULT set release date for PURITY THROUGH FIRE debut – features members of MAVORIM, TOTENWACHE, MUECHELMORD

Today, Purity Through Fire sets July 15th as the international release date for Eisenkult‘s striking debut album, …gedenken wir der Finsternis, on CD, vinyl LP, A5 digipack, and cassette tape formats.

Although a brand-new entity, Eisenkult is a blood pact shared among members of Mavorim, Totenwache, and Muechelmord, so naturally, it was only logical for Purity Through Fire to further the propaganda with the release of the band’s debut album, …gedenken wir der Finsternis. Righteously and resolutely traditionally-minded, Eisenkult first strike is a swift, splendorous journey into the more folkloric and fantastical reaches of second-wave classicism. The poignant 8-bit-style intro immediately whisks the listener away to forgotten realms, where the band then proceed to plunge into icy waters of raw-yet-melodic black metal brewed exclusively in the mid-to-late ’90s. Medieval is the atmosphere, austerely Teutonic is its feel, swords sharpened and aloft and with no shortage of chainmail to spare, Eisenkult‘s …gedenken wir der Finsternis is simply 28 minutes of dark melodrama for dreamers, journeyers, and all others against the modern world.

No more but definitely no less, Eisenkult create an authentically ancient landscape worth wandering, and it bears the name …gedenken wir der Fisnternis. As is often the case within the Purity Through Fire stronghold, the past is always alive!

Begin roaming that ancient landscape with the brand-new title track “…gedenken wir der Finsternis” here:

Cover and tracklisting follows:

MAVORIM set release date for new PURITY THROUGH FIRE album, reveal first track

Today, Purity Through Fire sets January 31st, 2020 as the international release date for Mavorim‘s highly anticipated second album, Axis Mundi, on CD, vinyl LP, and cassette tape formats.

For the last five years, the defiant warlord otherwise known as Baptist has put forth a stark, austere style of black metal under the Mavorim banner. With a couple demos, splits, and then 2018’s Silent Leges Inter Arma debut album through Purity Through Fire, Mavorim has swiftly come to define the new breed of German black metal that hearkens back to the old guard: Teutonic to the bone, harsh and harrowing yet heralding triumph.

And just last summer, Mavorim continued that momentum with the double-EP Aasfresser, which presented six brand-new songs alongside four unreleased demo songs. If those new tracks lit the fire of anticipation for the second Mavorim full-length, then the ensuing Axis Mundi is bound to be the devastating dynamite. Everything here is taken to its limits: the songwriting bolder, catchier, more epic, and most definitely more dynamic; the execution burning with an undeniable passion, betraying a confidence heretofore revealed by the mainman; the production robust and muscular, clear and cutting yet not once cheating into the realm of overly slick; and the album’s overall arc taking Mavorim‘s signature style of mini-suites into a staggeringly vast experience that canvasses a wealth of emotional/spiritual terrain for a mere black metal record. Of course, Baptist doesn’t not play “mere black metal,” and everything that’s come before under the Mavorim banner can be found here, immediately recognizable as ever, but especial note must be made of the spectral synth touches across Axis Mundi – classicist and daresay classy, but awe-inspiring any way you cut it – as well as Baptist’s stirring clean tenor, which gives the album a heroic aspect that never borders on the cheesy.

Suitably, for an achievement this grand, Axis Mundi comprises 13 songs for a total of 67 minutes. The track “Wie ein Sturm” features Sarkrista‘s Revenant on vocals, while the closing “Kaiserjägerlied” is a cover of the Minenwerfer track. The cover art has been painted by Maxime Taccardi of K.F.R and Griiim infamy. Richly detailed storytelling in black metal form presently doesn’t get any better than Mavorim, and now they’ve upped the ante on themselves with Axis Mundi!

In the meantime, hear that aforementioned cover of Minenwerfer‘s “Kaiserjägerlied” here:

MAVORIM set release date for new PURITY THROUGH FIRE mini-album, reveal first track

Today, Purity Through Fire sets August 19th as the international release date for a special mini-album from Mavorim, titled Aasfresser, on A5 digipak, regular CD, and LP formats.

For the last five years, the defiant warlord otherwise known as P. has put forth a stark, austere style of black metal under the Mavorim banner. With a couple demos, splits, and then last year’s Silent Leges Inter Arma debut album through Purity Through Fire, Mavorim has swiftly come to define the new breed of German black metal that hearkens back to the old guard: Teutonic to the bone, harsh and harrowing yet heralding triumph.

Continuing that momentum, with Aasfresser, Mavorim presents a special record that’s something of a double-EP: six brand-new songs comprising its own mini-album, and then four unreleased demo songs that are no less mighty. Epic to the very end, P. here casts Mavorim in a blazing obsidian light, drawing together orcish violence and coldly stirring melodies, often breathtakingly touched with spectral synth. It’s immediately memorable and exceptionally “catchy,” even if it (thankfully) doesn’t employ rote rock-music structures – or rather, the breath of night is blown across mini-suites that are storytelling in black metalled form. And at 55 minutes across 10 songs, Aasfresser is a richly satisfied work that be experienced in whole or split into two equally compelling halves.

While the next full-length propaganda is prepared, witness the iron-willed ascent of Mavorim with Aasfresser!

The first iron fist can be felt with the new track “Missraten und verkommen”
Tracklisting for Mavorim’s Aasfresser
1. Victoria

8. Hort der Seligkeit
9. Verhallt in Dunkelheit
