DEATHEPOCH set release date for PUTRID CULT debut, reveal first track – features guests from CULTES DES GHOULES, ACHERON, DIOCLETIAN+++

Today, Putrid Cult announces October 6th as the international release date for DeathEpoch‘s striking debut album, Abysmal Invocation, on CD and cassette tape formats. The vinyl LP version shall be released in December.

DeathEpoch is a band from Poland formed in February 2020. The band consists of Lord K. (Nekkrofukk, Sacrificulus, Goathrone, ex-Hate) responsible for vocals, drums, and electronic samples and Morgul (owner of the Putrid Cult label) responsible for guitar and bass parts. In June of this year, they finished work on their debut full-length, Abysmal Invocation, combining dark ‘n’ deranged elements of black metal, death metal, and war metal with ritual ambient and industrial noise. A bold fusion for such a new band, but one that’s haunting and suffocating in equal measures…

Comprising 10 songs across 51 frayed-ends-of-sanity minutes, DeathEpoch‘s Abysmal Invocation duly lives up to its title, and then some. To enter its tar-thick and just-as-black depths is to enter a charnel pit itself; the way forward is spread before the listener, but each step deeper reveals fathomless horrors. Much like a fever dream, the delirium-inducing decibels the duo present here paradoxically flow, flitting between crushed ‘n’ crushing metal one minute and otherworldly ambience the other, its jarring malevolence well and truly drawing that listener toward the outer reaches of madness. Indeed, genre parameters matter not to DeathEpoch when the goal is SONIC ANNIHILATION, utilizing every weapon at hand to evoke the unshakable feeling of Apocalypse in this increasingly desperate 21st Century. Adding to that arsenal are guest vocal parts from the esteemed likes of Mark of The Devil (Cultes Des Ghoules), Vincent Crowley (Acheron), and Kris Stanley (Sinistrous Diabolus, ex- Diocletian), and covers of Sodom and Acheron are given suitably malformed treatment within this Abysmal Invocation.

Given this span of stylistic antagonism, Abysmal Invocation is just as recommended for fans of Mz.412, Prurient, and Brighter Death Now as it is for Beherit, Revenge, and Archgoat. But, upon evidence of this frightening first strike, DeathEpoch have crafted a unique identity worth reckoning. This is the beginning of the end!

The first harbinger of that end can be heard with the brand-new track “Genocide III” (featuring Cultes des Ghoules’ Mark of The Devil) here:

OVER THE VOIDS… “Hadal” Over the Voids is back. The long-awaited sophomore album, “HADAL”, sports a masterful balance between atmosphere and aggression. Both melody and dissonance have their place here, and the forceful arrangements bristle with harsh energy. Interspersed with the frantic aural attacks are bleak passages, at times adorned with chanted clear vocals and haunting acoustic guitars.
With “HADAL”, main visionaire The Fall expands Over the Voids’ austere universe into new, yet oddly familiar, territories. Even though it is harkening back to the glorious 90’s black metal sound it is an evidence of how a fallen world can birth to something new and teeming with ominous potency. From the depths of
darkness, a new power emerges, spreading itself over the voids… Release date: August 28th

In recent years, many Polish black metal bands have found their way to the forefront of the scene. Sharing live musicians with the titans of Mgła, MEDICO PESTE approach common narratives in black metal from a darker and more twisted state of mind than their contemporaries. The five-piece embrace a different look at death, religion, the Devil and his work, by exploring the distorted views of a tormented, neurotic subject and his schizophrenic visions.

MEDICO PESTE was originally formed in early 2010 by Lazarus (vocals) and Nefar (guitar), shortly after joined by The Fall (bass), EVT (guitar) and Priest (drums). The band released a demo in 2011 and shortly after followed up with the debut: ‘א: Tremendum et Fascinatio’. With this first full length, the Polish band impressed fans worldwide with their distinct approach to black metal.

In 2014 the band parted ways with Priest, replaced by The Fall for the recording of the EP ‘Herzogian Darkness’.  The acclaimed EP came out in 2017 and in that same year and Desolator joined the band as permanent drummer. MEDICO PESTE continued working on their second record and joined forces with Season of Mist’s Underground Activists sublabel to release ‘ב :The Black Bile’ in 2020.

Themes such as madness, religion and nihilism form the core part of the band’s lyrics, accompanied by music which emanates psychopathic rage, intertwined with a wide range of non-metal influences like post-punk, avantgarde and cabaret music. ‘ב :The Black Bile’ builds on a specific vision of madness revolving around butoh theatre, ecclesiogenic neurosis, schizophrenia, dark grotesque and Jungian archetypes. Beware when you enter these nightmarish visions, emanating from a contorted mind..

ARKONA premiere “Age Of Capricorn”

[Press Release] ARKONA premiere “Age Of Capricorn”

Age Of Capricorn“, the seventh album from one of Poland’s leading Black Metal acts, ARKONA, is nearing its release through Debemur Morti Productions. With the album slated to drop in less than three weeks, Decibel Magazine is now hosting a stream of its mighty title track.

ARKONA is where the lightless spirits of second and third wave black metal assume modern form in an all too relatable maelstrom of degradation and disquiet, alienation and anger, hypnosis and horror. Recorded, mixed, and mastered at Impressive Art Studio, “Age Of Capricorn” is blessed with a crisp production that foregrounds a jackhammer relentlessness of near-industrial proportions, leaving the listener gasping for air as they are bludgeoned into inverted cathedrals of sound.

The album is completed with cover art and layout by Church Of Chaos Multimedia.Decibel writes in part with their premiere, “Aided by a flurry of icy riffs and an intense-but-clean production job, ‘Age Of Capricorn’ feels like the sonic equivalent to being trapped in the eye of a storm: despite the chaotic and turbulent nature of the song, ARKONA keep things neat and controlled. The end result is a song and album that black metal devotees would be mistaken to miss out on as the year and decade draw to a close.

Stream ARKONA’s “Age Of Capricorn” early only through Decibel right here.

Age Of Capricorn” will see release through Debemur Morti Productions on digipack CD, gatefold 12″ LP, a special edition gatefold 12″ LP limited to 100 copies, and all digital platforms on December 13th. Find preorders at the European webshop, North American webshop and Bandcamp.

ARKONA is currently plotting new tour dates to support “Age Of Capricorn“. The band is confirmed to play Metalowa Wigilia 2019 alongside SÓLSTAFIR, PRIMORDIAL, CARPATHIAN FOREST, and more on December 21st, and has already started confirming tour dates for the new year including Under The Black Sun Festival 2020 with NAGLFAR, MYSTIFIER and others on July 2nd.

Watch for updates to post in the months ahead.
