| Today, Purity Through Fire sets April 11th as the international release date for Nôidva‘s striking debut album, Windseller, on CD, vinyl LP, and cassette tape formats. A brand-new entity hailing from Finland, Nôidva feature members of Sacrificium Carmen and Riivaus. Although detectably Finnish black metal in sound and style, Nôidva uniquely focus on Laplandish shamanism for their first public work, the full-length Windseller. Freezing and furious, the black metal Nôidva unfurl across Windseller crucially contains a mystical element – folkloric, magickal, evocative of forgotten realms far from modernity – as well as a melodicism that stirs the more courageous side of one’s spirit rather than immediate and irrevocable bloodlust. As such, Winderseller poignantly imparts a favorably late ’90s aspect both in form and feel, and done with the undeniable passion Nôidva possess, the sum effect is refreshing as it is reverential. Above all, perhaps, Windseller doesn’t overstay its welcome: within six songs in nearly a half-hour, Nôidva get in and get out, their immediacy paradoxically long-lasting.
