Revered Swedish experimental black-metal band OFDRYKKJA will release their third full-length album, Gryningsvisor, on November 29th with AOP Records. The band has debuted the record’s latest offering, “Swallowed By The Night,”
Commenting on the song, Pessimisten (vocals, horns) says, “The lyrics of ‘Swallowed by the Night’ is written in short sequences, like nightmares a sub conscience would create, based on the current state of mind. Stories made out of unprocessed emotions. It is truly a dark song, as dark as the night – but even the longest of nights will have its dawn, and while this song tells the stories of a long struggle, it is in fact about those first, warm sun rays piercing through the trees, after a very long and cold night.”

Formed eight years ago out of necessity to cope with agonizing depression, debilitating addiction and endless pain, OFDRYKKJA has seen the light amongst the darkness for their latest record, which translates to “Ballads At Dawn.” After years of self-inflicted turmoil and suffering, the trio has found solace in healing and self-reflection which is heard on their latest evolution, Gryningsvisor.
Eight years ago, three darkness consumed men seeked to ventilate their seemingly endless struggle through addiction and mental illness conjured their first album “A life worth losing“.
Drabbad was gunned down by police and spent a three year prison sentence, with most of the songs on their second album written from within the prison walls. Having hit rock bottom, the band sought a way out of that dark wilderness, releasing “Irrfärd” (which translates to ‘Aimless journey’). Following the release the band went their separate ways to pursue personal journeys that eventually led them to find peace in sobriety and awakening purpose, and ultimately to their forthcoming record, Gryningsvisor.
Drabbad adds, “Ofdrykkja has always been an instrument of therapy for us, and therapy exists to help one evolve. It would serve us no purpose to walk in old footsteps, and neither would it be authentic to force it. We hope you appreciate our evolution, both personal and musical.”

Today, fast-rising Swedish black metal cult Malakhim stream the entirety of their highly anticipated new mini-album, II. Set for international release on March 8th via Iron Bonehead Productions, hear Malakhim’s II in its entirety HERE:
One of the most electric newcomers Iron Bonehead has come across in recent years, Malakhim originally self-released their debut recording, Demo I, on cassette during the autumn of 2017, and it sold out within a day. Not surprising, that, if you listen to the three songs comprising their opening salvo: patiently unfolding vortexes of orthodox black metal with more than a bit of death metalled muscle, all in obeisance to the powers of The Beyond, and coalescing into a fever-dreaming fury of hellish hysteria. Iron Bonehead released Demo I on CD at the beginning of 2018 and then on 12″ vinyl five months later, such was the demand.
Now, Malakhim continue that upward/abyss-ward trajectory with their second recording, a four-song/21-minute mini-album fittingly titled II. Taking all the same rudiments of their debut recording and fleshing them out in bolder, more Beyond-pushing shapes, II takes the listener deep into a slipstreaming black (w)hole of malignant majesty. Simultaneously timeless and modern, Malakhim here breathe a confidence that’s blanching to behold, exhibiting a dexterity of songcraft and poise of execution that takes most other bands years to achieve, if ever. That should be no surprise, given the wealth of experience within the ranks of the band; names could be dropped, but all five members believe – quite rightly – that Malakhim should stand on its own merits. And with II, that claim is more justified than ever.
Yet another foretaste of the ominous doom and dread ahead, with II do Malakhim tease what their imminent debut album for Iron Bonehead will manifest…beware, and bow down now! Bow fully before II exclusively HERE:
