ASCENDENCY stream new ME SACO UN OJO / DARK DESCENT mini-album

Today, Danish black/death cult Ascendency stream the entirety of their highly anticipated new mini-album, A Manifest of Imperious Destiny. Set for international release on July 14th via Me Saco Un Ojo Records and Dark Descent Records on 12″ vinyl and CD formats, respectively, hear Ascendency‘s A Manifest of Imperious Destiny in its entirety here:

Prepare for the ultimate black/death metal assault by Denmark’s Ascendency… Following a punishing demo in 2019 and their equally merciless 2020 MLP, they now return with another tome of destruction. Four new tracks span an unforgiving half-hour of desecration.

While Denmark has offered some of the best contemporary death metal in the last decade or so, Ascendency are quite a unique beast within this. Their much darker, venomous black metal influences create disquiet with uncomfortable atmospherics that still retain that brutality, just with a much-more-unhinged twist. These new pieces showcase what the band has incubated in the last three years, which is feral and harrowing musical extremity with a sepulchral atmosphere and tremendous musicianship to boot. Reverberating howls and guitars send a chill through the ossuary while drums hammer through remaining skulls with ease.

While Ascendency clearly revel in delivering punishment, they do so with intricate and carefully constructed songs that contain more than enough nuance to really sink your teeth into. Melodic-yet-bestial riffs charge atop devastating percussion with demonic vocals while never straying too far from the cacophony of fury remains the heart of this untamed sound. The subtleties tie in with bludgeoning violence effortlessly and leave us with a truly potent, memorable, and distinguished record. Atmosphere and malice, when they coexist in such a manner, become an unstoppable beast, so prepare for annihilation if you seek out this mystical-yet-malignant gem of underground might. Delve into oblivion with these new offerings of unfaltering triumph and might. [text by Jørgen Sven Kirby, Nattskog webzine]

ASCENDENCY set release date for IRON BONEHEAD debut mini-album, reveal first track

Today, Iron Bonehead Productions sets July 17th as the international release date for the striking debut mini-album of Denmark’s AscendencyBirth of an Eternal Empire, on CD and 12″ vinyl formats.

Initially, Ascendency started out as solo project, formed by the strong desire to ignite the black flame of death. Here in the cover of darkness, concepts and ideas were slowly formed and refined over a number of years, until the enlistment of a competent drummer took place, elevating the band to newer heights and gaining them prowess musically. The band then recorded and made two promotional tapes, before the lineup was completed by the recruitment of a second guitarist, increasing the strength and power of the band once more.

Birth of an Eternal Empire was recorded in May 2019 and has since gone through an extensive process, in the pursuit of a fitting and impactful sound which could showcase the raw energy of Ascendency and leave its burning mark upon a sullied world. Consisting of four tracks, the 26-minute record chronicles the rise to power of an despotic tyrant and will be the first of a trilogy of short releases, with a continuous conceptual narrative, about the thirst for power and hegemony and the ultimate betrayal of ego and arrogance.

Musically, Ascendency‘s attack comprises piercing guitars and thunderous bass, with monumental and melodic riffs tearing through an eternal battlefield, accompanied by visceral and commanding vocals that spew forth tales of fiery conquest and herald a new dark era. All this is meticulously completed by a relentless bombardment of drums, which underline the songs with pure rhythmic punishment and primitive force. Indeed, this is a Birth of an Eternal Empire!

Hear the first sounds of that birth with the brand-new track “A Birth in Fire”
Cover and tracklisting are as follows:
