NATTVERD reveal second video from new SOULSELLER album

Today, Norwegian black metallers Nattverd reveal the new video “Det Stormer I Norge.” The track is the second to be revealed from the band’s highly anticipated fourth album, I Helvetes Forakt, set for international release on May 26th via Soulseller Records. See & hear Nattverd‘s “Det Stormer I Norge” video in its entirety here:

Hailing from Bergen, Nattverd was initially started in the ’90s, but due to reasons beyond control, the band’s official formation was delayed until 2014. A few tracks were written during this period by founders Ormr (vocals, guitar) and Atyr (guitar), which later culminated in Nattverd‘s debut album, Vi vet gud Er En Løgner, in 2017. On this album, Ormr and Atyr recruited Serpentr on drums, and the record received great critical acclaim in the underground scene. A year later, they released the EP Skuggen, which featured Skjolden on guest drums, from Norway’s infamous Fester. Shortly after this EP, they wrote their second album, Styggdom, and recruited drummer Antichristian (ex-Tsjuder) and bassist Sveinr (Nordjevel, ex-Ragnarok).

Thereafter, Nattverd scored a record deal with Osmose Productions, and eventually released Styggdom in 2020 through the label to high praise in the media. In 2021, they released their third album, Vandring – also through Osmose – and were signed by Flaming Arts Agency to take their music to the live arena. On this album, Aven joined the band on guitars, and after the album, they parted ways with drummer Antichristian. They were then joined by drummer Renton (ex-Urgehal, ex-Sarkom), which then led to the band recorded their fourth album in Caliban Studio Storsjøen.

Titled I Helvetes Forakt, Nattverd‘s fourth album is their first with new label home Soulseller Records, longtime fans of the band. Much as its cover art forecasts the contents ahead, I Helvetes Forakt effortlessly transports the listener to wintry, alluringly desolate landscapes, working as much atmospherically as they do aggressively. More than ever, Nattverd embody the cryogenic majesty of classic Norwegian black metal, conjured during the glorious 1990s but by no means tethered to that past. If anything, the quintet have their sights set on the distant future, patiently pushing their sound forward to icier heights (and depths) whilst maintaining their distinct poise and personality. And to punctuate the release of I Helvetes Forakt, Nattverd are confirmed to play Steelfest Open Air 2023.

Also hear the previously revealed “En Poesende Eim I Vinden” HERE, also at Soulseller‘s official YouTube channel. Preorder info for world can be found HERE while preorder for the Americas can be found HERE. Cover artwork, courtesy of Misanthropic-Art, and tracklisting are as follows:

Norwegian black metallers Nattverd stream their highly anticipated third album

Today, Norwegian black metallers Nattverd stream their highly anticipated third album, Vandringl. NATTVERD reveal first track from new OSMOSE album – also reveal cover art, tracklisting

With their sophomore full-length album, Styggdom, set for release on Osmose Productions on January 31st, 2020, fans of Norwegian black metallers Nattverd get their first taste of what to expect from the album with the debut of the track “Dragsvoll,” which can be heard here:
Formed two years ago and with a lineup of extremely experienced and talented musicians – comprised today of Serpentr on vocals, Ormr on vocals and guitars, Atyr on guitars, Sveinr on bass, and Antichristian (Tsjuder et. al.) on session drums – Nattverd has always sought to keep the actual identity of those musicians private, preferring that the band be judged purely on its music, as opposed to any former, current, or future bands or releases its members may be involved in.

Nattverd‘s extremely successful debut album, Vi Vet gud Er En Løgner, showed a band that played black metal in the traditional way: cold and nasty and filled with fury and hate. But with Styggdom, Nattverd have grown and expanded, here coming up with a much more varied and atmospheric album – an album that shows just how versatile this band can be when it comes to delivering black metal.

Drums, bass, guitars, and vocals for Styggdom were recorded at Velvet Recording, Spydeberg, Norway and engineered by Nattverd and Christer Krogh. Mixing and mastering was handled by Tore Stjerna at the Necromorbus Studios.

With artwork, layout and design by Khaos Diktator Design, Styggdom will be available in CD, vinyl LP, and digital formats. Preorder info can be found HERE.

Aforementioned cover art and tracklisting are as follows:

NATTVERD sign with OSMOSE, set release date for new album

Norwegian black metallers Nattverd have inked a deal with Osmose Productions for the release of the band’s second album. Titled Styggdom, it is the follow-up to 2017’s debut album Vi Vet gud Er En Løgner and is set to hit the streets on the January, 31st 2020. Work on the album has been completed, and more details will follow. When Nattverd first announced their existence two years ago, they were absolutely adamant that they should be judged purely on their music, and not on any former, current, or future bands or releases the members may be involved with. And this is a philosophy Nattverd adhere to today, with the only additional information being a slight change in lineup, with original members Ormr still on vocals and guitars whilst Atyr concentrates on guitars and hands over bass duties to new member Sveinr, whilst former session drummer Serpentr takes on vocals and AntiChristian (Tsjuder et. al.) takes his place as session drummer. So what exactly does the music itself reveal about Nattverd? Most obvious is the fact that this is a band that plays black metal in the traditional way: cold and nasty and filled with fury and hate, with the occasional foray into more atmospheric and melodic realms, keeping the whole thing interesting and original. The other thing that stood out about Nattverd from the debut album was the confidence and musical skill demonstrated by its members, marking the individuals out as extremely experienced and talented musicians, and definitely not fledglings dipping their toes into the black metal pool for the first time. More Nattverd news – including cover art, tracklisting, and preorder for Styggdom – to be revealed shortly.
